RE: Rnd 10 Potnam Park Race Reports - Fergy - 27-05-2013 Cars as far can see :-) RE: Rnd 10 Potnam Park Race Reports - gorgias1976 - 27-05-2013 Qualy ------ Did my 12,3 laptime early in the session and then tried to get in the 11s. I knew that was possible as I reached to get a -0.4 in the second sector but due to mistakes and mainly traffic I could not get a clean lap. It was quite annoying that some drivers in their outlaps did not give their position and that ruined several laps. Race 1 ------- Made a good start and reached T1 parallel to DjC but as I was in the green side, tires cold, brakes cold, and didn't want to miss the inside and create a mess decided for an early braking and took it easy, remaining in my 4th place. At turn 4 went a little wide and David Coyne passed me. I took back my position at the straight. My front tires started to get hotter and car started to understeer, what increased the problem (only way I could find a quick setup here, a handicup I knew I had to deal with). Jason brought some fight and finally took my position (went a little wide at penultimate curve trying to catch a lapped car). I was 5th about 2 sec behind Jason, lap 9 and decided to pit at that moment, make 3 quick laps with the fresh cold tires and try to get back 4th place. Pitstop took 48 seconds. Did a couple of fast laps and when Jason came out of his pitstop we reached side by side to turn1. We had a little contact there and he took the worst of it losing some seconds. The remaining of the race was trying not to make mistakes and dealing with the heavy traffic in such a short track, finally ending in 4th place. Race 2 ------- Similar start than race 1 but this time I did not remain in the inside line for T1 and Jason took advantage of it and took my position in the braking. At lap 3 I was hit by D Coyne at the braking for turn 7 causing me to spin and stall the engine. Got back to racing at the mid-back of the pack and decided to do an early pitstop to avoid that many traffic. Did my pitstop and tried to drive not pushing that hard trying to prevent front tires from overheating. Robert reached me and we had some good laps battling. In the final lap he passed me as my tires started to overheat again. Race 3 ------- Clean start avoiding trouble. Approaching turn 1 some cars crashed in front and a lot of smoke arose. Heavy braking I was able to avoid all crashing and spinning cars but suddenly I was strongly hit from behind being thrown to the grass and getting back on track with a damaged car. I went for a repair and tire change and got from the pits right behind the two Fergusons. Bryan let me pass him and then battled Neela for position. I was able to pass her in the straight thanks to her wings' draft. Laps went by trying not to overheat the tires and when I saw in my display that Marcel W. was the driver ahead I realised I was driving second place. Rikard was approaching quite fast and even though I reached to hold him for 3 laps, understeering at final turn was becoming a big issue and finally he got pass me two laps to the end. I was about to finish third but at final turn I saw rikard trying to lap a car and having contact with it going to the grass so I was lucky to gain back second place. Luckily the Putnam hell was finished. RE: Rnd 10 Potnam Park Race Reports - troffeo - 27-05-2013 Hi all I starting first....because yesterday i was last ![]() Let me say that type cars isn't my choices for racing. I love, i admire, i like much, but for the time being .... I must start learning it! Qualy My laps is same as did all week. A problem at the wheel gave me the feeling lost center but set it a little more force feedback and made it little better. Race In the first race started from 22nd position, I started very well and pass some cars, but at the first corner someone hit me and the suspension had to be repaired. Here I must say that I have no experience with rf2 so I did not know that at the pit stops I can do repairs ... So I entered the pits later, can't could see were is the point I had to stay, plus 50 seconds for repairs, so the 21st position rather good. A little to much so went the other two races, where both of 2 walked in the first round for repairs (even in the third race who i started at the end of grid).More or less my final positions are same as 1st race. Hope this time i did not create any problem for the fastest drivers in the process of overtaking. Finally I want to say that I enjoyed immensely was amazing to see so many cars and drivers on the track. Congratulations to all and especially to SR4L!! Also many congrats the winners, Congrats again to SR4L!! RE: Rnd 10 Potnam Park Race Reports - ~IsR~ Jason - 27-05-2013 Fantastic nights racing again, loads of people made for exciting races on this great circuit from the legendary Feels3. In practice, I knew I had a 1.11 in me and 1.12.3 was achieved easily. In qualifying, I couldn't get as smooth as I would have liked and only managed a 1.12.5, putting me in 5th on the grid. I was on for a 1.11 easy last lap but messed up the final turn. 5th on the grid. Race 1 - Got an ok start but DC came flying past at the entry to T1. I was chasing him and Gorka for a while, then I was able to overtake DC on the straight after he got a bit out of shape on the exit. Gorka was my next target. Caught him up and put him under some pressure and he went wide. I was past him and into 4th place. Pitted on lap 10 I think, but came out of the pits with Gorka coming screaming down the straight behind me and was level going into T1. Our wheels touched and I went spinning off. Got back on the track and proceeded to chase him down again through the traffic. I ran out of laps though and had to settle for 5th. Race 2 - This time I was able to gain a place going into T1 as Gorka sensibly backed off to avoid incident allowing me to take the inside line and overtake him. The race was relatively straight forward, I knew I had the pace to keep 4th place safe and after pitting and getting through the traffic, I began to gain on DJC in 3rd but I wasn't as consistent as I'd like and he pipped me to the line by 0.3 of a second. Race 3 - Got an ok start and was on the inside line on the approach to T1. To my surprise, I saw DJC in my right mirror attempting an overtake from half on the grass! Not a great decision, I thought, and was proved right when he attempted to get back on the track and clipped me. Well, we all make bad decisions at times. I went spinning off with damage. I got back on track and made my way through the traffic til I caught K.Knorpp on the the fabulously drifty left turn after the hairpin. I was well on the inside but he unfortunately oversteered and lost control from the outside line and as he lost traction and his back end came round, he hit me and I picked up more damage! Chased a few more down and was in 9th, catching 8th but ran out of laps. Finished a disappointed 9th. Awesome nights racing, more lessons learned, thanks to all participants and the great admin for the part we all play in making SR4L such a popular and competitive league. RE: Rnd 10 Potnam Park Race Reports - giorgetto giaguaro - 27-05-2013 It's nice to see SR4L growing up with a lot of new drivers. ![]() As my first race with H shifter and clutch I didn't care so much about qualifications, so I departed in 19th position. Race1: A clean start and a clean race al most. I made some little mistakes not caused by shifting. Finished in 16th position. Race2: Don't know why I started in 22th position... btw. There was an accident in front of me and I couldn't avoid to hit Niko and to broke my left front spring (the most important in this track I think). I decided to continue and to not repair the damage. Final position, 19th. Race3: Started in 5th position, after turn 1 was in 2nd, then Neela (in 1st) pitted and I was in first position (!). At 2nd lap Everon was behind me for some turns, untill I spun my car and hit him at the fast corner before the hairpin (so sorry Everon). Get back on track in 23th position. Other mistakes and my race finished in 19th position. Despite the results I had a lot of fun. Glad to see the usual sportmanship on track! ![]() Kudos to the podium but also to first 10th, I think it wasn't so easy to get a point position last night. RE: Rnd 10 Potnam Park Race Reports - deecee52 - 27-05-2013 Qualy I went out early and managed to get my best time on lap 3 after that I just couldn’t improve , its so easy to overdrive this track and overheat the tyres which was what I was doing , qualified 6th which I was pleased with . Race 1 Got a good start behind Gorka who flew off the line , I just tucked myself in behind him and let him open the door for me , managed to pass him when he made a mistake but then I cocked up the last turn and he was back past me , did an early pitstop which went ok came out in clear track and got my head down and finished 6th . Race 2 Got a good start and tucked in behind Gorka again , chased him hard for 3 laps but then going into turn 7 I locked my brakes and tapped Gorka into a spin (Mega Sorry Gorka) , I toured slowly round waiting for him to repass which he did on main straight, but we both had lost a lot of places , I then went wide onto the grass a couple of times as I was annoyed with myself and was driving badly , so I pitted to calm myself down , came out and caught Yerke and had a great race with him , I was faster but he defended well and there was no way past . Race 3 I started 13th which should have been a warning to me , got a good start watching carefully the cars around me , whoever was on my outside was squeezing me hard and I was just managing to stay on the black stuff , saw the start of a crash in front so braked but got hit from behind , this put me on the grass but got hit again , tried to rejoin but got hit again , this time car was damaged and crabbing , so took to the infield and slowly rejoined in last place , made my way to the pits for a 90 second stop and while I was there I got hit again which put me head on to the Armco , I had to reverse out of my pitbox to point the right way , I wish to protest against the person who pinned the target on the back of my car , after that I just got my head down and drove to finish , phew . Great turnout and a good nights racing , well done SR4L RE: Rnd 10 Potnam Park Race Reports - jpalesi - 27-05-2013 Race 1 : Good clean race till the end, or my end I should say. I was racing for 6th I think, and then I got to meet Nikos, nice to meet you ;D I saw you way too late (I hated that corner all night), and couldn't go enough on the inside. Suspensions done, I had to retire. Race 2, I started dead last, and there was a flying car midfield which caused panic, and time lost. Fun race going through the field, and I got a top 10. Race 3, the expected mayhem happened, I arrived in turn 1 and there was a wall of cars and smoke I couldn't avoid => damaged car. That crest before turn 1 couldn't have been placed better ![]() With even more understeer, it wasn't much fun, but got another top 10. Congrats to the winner, and thanks for the race 8) RE: Rnd 10 Potnam Park Race Reports - 1959nikos - 27-05-2013 jpalesi Wrote:Race 1 : Good clean race till the end, or my end I should say. Suspensions done, I had to retire. Not the proper way to meet you, clearly my fault, Im very sorry of this disaster. You would have avoided me if I stayed still, I usually do, I guess adrenalin got the best of my sense this time. RE: Rnd 10 Potnam Park Race Reports - baddie100 - 27-05-2013 Qualifying: Was struggling a lot with understeer, couldn't put the power down anywhere otherwise I would understeer wide onto the grass. I was hoping to end up in the top 10 after qualifying but that dream shattered quite quickly. I managed to do a 1.13,6 if I remember correctly. Which put me in 15th place. Wasn't that pleased with the time, but was really the best I could have done with that car. Race 1: Many people were a bit sleeping during the first green light, I think. Managed to get 3 places just on the run down to the first corner. But I was being a bit cautious the first 2 laps, which many people took advantage of and lost already 2 places. I was having a pretty good first stint. Had some small fights with Everon, but didn't really commit to overtaking him. Because I wasn't much faster then him and he can be quite rudeless (not illegally) in defending, as I have found out many times. Then it started to go downhill fast. I had a big fieldtrip in the grass, because I was very close behind a car on the straight and when he shifted gear, his front suspension went downwards and it gave the impression that he was braking, so I completely slammed my brakes and steered away from him. With me ending up in the grass. This put me a bit "out of the zone" and made me make 3 consecutive mistakes onto the grass. Went into the pits at lap 11, and hit Mel Fisk who was already in the pits. So I ended where I started at 15th place. Race 2: I had again a good start, Baumann went to the right and opened a gap and he didn't notice me being on the left and almost had a crash at the start. But Baumann did his best to avoid this ;-). Most duels ahead of me ended in the grass. Which gave me a couple of places. Then I was driving behind Mel Fisk I presume, for a very long time. Didn't challenge him or anything. I was actually driving the best race I ever had, just because I was driving very consistent times of 1.14,5. Which aren't the best times to be honest, but I ended up first at lap 12, when everybody was having their pitstops. Which was a bit of a personal achievement. Went into the pits and while I was in the pits I was looking at track map. Looking where I would end up after the pit stop. But I was SO focused on the track map and my position, that I speeded in the pits... -.-. This was really unfortunate because I came out on 9th position after the pitstops. But now I had to do a drive-through. I was a bit pissed at myself and started making mistakes as well. Even though with the extra drive-through and the couple of mistakes I made at the end I managed to get 15th place again. Race 3: I had a good launch of the start, but was blocked in front so couldn't do much about it. The first corner Baumann braked very soon, very hard, while there wasn't any traffic in front of him. I was to close following him and tried everything to not hit him. But still bumped lightly in the back of his car, which was enough to spin him. And because I was braking so hard, somebody hit me in the back and a lot of cars crashed as a result of all that. Which I apologize for. I had 3 wheels after that accident and had an 320sec pitstop. I didn't want to leave the race, because of the lagg it brings a long with it and just drove some anonymous laps around until the end. Ended last with 4 or 5 laps behind the leader. Overall not so pleased with my performance, really have to work towards consistancy and stop making those stupid mistakes! But really liked most of the drivers clean and behaved racing! Good job to all of you! Also a Thanks to the admins and moderatorsof SR4l for all these races! Kind regards, Thomas Vandenberghe RE: Rnd 10 Potnam Park Race Reports - Txus - 27-05-2013 Qualy: My PB before qualy was 1:13:5XX, I didn't even dream about getting that lap time because in my last two nights of practicing I hardly went below 1:14 a couple of times. About 5 minutes left, my best time was 1:13:9XX, 14th on the grid. After a thousand of laps of practice that was the best I could do :'( But then, I remember Mel's advice: "I gained .5 seconds slowing down" I went out again and did an amazing unexpected 1:13:20X ... 7th in the grid! That was pretty exciting and scary too, because I had some guys clearly faster than me behind... Races: I was lucky, did 3 good starts 8) and avoided almost all accidents in all races. 1rst and 2nd races were almost the same, tried to hold fast guys behind until my pit stop (49secs) in ninth lap, getting out in 14th from pits but without traffic and no accidents, reached the 8th position. 3rd race was spectacular for me, good start from 15th, gained a lot of positions in firsts corners due to mistakes made by drivers in front and reached 2nd place in 3rd lap. I got hit and I loose a position and some time, but surprisingly, I reached 1rst position (lot of accidents and early stops I guess) before my pit stop. I got out from pits in 7th and even reached 6th but then, JP Campmajo caught me, I hold him for a couple of laps but he was quite faster than me. Robert Hedlund joined us and I watching them fighting on my mirrors, thinking that it might be my chance to get away from them...when I miss the entry of the last turn, went out of the track and they overtook me. Thanks a lot to SR4L for this great racing evening and also my admiration for those using clutch in this track, that looks really impossible thing to me. I would like to remark too, the nice and sportmanship driving of JP Campmajo, I hold him for some important laps in first and last race, slowing him down a lot I think, however he didn't loose his nerves and didn't event touch me once (maybe once) the hundred times he tried to overtake me, even getting side by side. Thanks JP. RE: Rnd 10 Potnam Park Race Reports - gorgias1976 - 27-05-2013 ~IsR~ Jason Wrote:Race 3 - Got an ok start and was on the inside line on the approach to T1. You've learnt that DjC is like Ayrton Senna when fighting for position. He'll never back off wether there's room or not, so it's up to you how much risk you want to take. That's why I backed off at race 1 turn 1, it wasn't worth the risk at such an early stage of the race.

RE: Rnd 10 Potnam Park Race Reports - Lecram - 27-05-2013 That was not a mistake. He had Ai behind his name and so I booted him. His mortal self joined minutes later again.
RE: Rnd 10 Potnam Park Race Reports - Neela - 27-05-2013 First of all it was an amazing league race with 26 ppl on track and congrats to my teammie Marcel who did a great job finishing in all 3 races first. 8) Qualy: Did a 1.15.026 what was my PB. Race 1: I had a good start but because of the winged spark I was slow on the straights but stable in the corners. I had some good laps with Niko who started behind me but passed me easily on the straight. So I tried to stick behind him and was waiting for a mistake from his side. After a while he was too fast in a corner and spun and I got my position back and finished 17th Race 2: Start was ok and could avoid the crashes. But again on the long straight I was slow and others passed me easily. I saw Everon behind me who wanted to pass me as well but touched my right back wheel by mistake. So we both spun and I spun unlucky into the barriers. Right back wheel was gone. I tried to go over the gras to the pit but after a time my engine died as well. That was the end of race 2 :'( Race 3: because of the reversed grid I started on pole LOL My tactic was to survive the first lap on pole and do the pit stop. My plan went perfect. I got out of pits on position 18th and had here and there a battle, got hit by someone but no damage and went from 18th to 10th where I finished. I think that was my best race so far ![]() Thanks everyone for a great race night
