RE: TAGELE Sprint - Race reports, chat etc. - bullwinkle - 10-11-2022 well what a day. I was expecting a pretty good race but noooooooooo not for me. Race one had a spin, I had never spun out in all the practice so I dont know why, messed up some other guys went I couldn't stay low on the track, very sorry guys. Race 2 When I pitted my fuel settings were wrong and it would not let me fix it so not enough fuel, then got slammed into wall, had to pit again for fuel so I said heck with it and clicked out. Very disappointing day sorry to all I messed up. RE: TAGELE Sprint - Race reports, chat etc. - Myles (Mr Fox) - 10-11-2022 bullwinkle, post: 32043, member: 333 Wrote:well what a day. A number of us remarked that the grip in Qualy seemed different to practice (it should carry forward) and we were experiencing more understeer for no particular reason. We also think we noticed that the car balance changes quite a bit with fuel load - high fuel seems better than low (maybe that’s why we felt the Qualy grip had changed….) I might take a look at the car physics later - the original BMW M1 mod (that we have extensively developed for next years leagues) had a kerazy ‘bug’ in that the centre of gravity of the fuel in the tank could fall below the floor of the car (even under the track!) due to sloppy conversion/modding. Something similar might be at work here in low fuel situations. RE: TAGELE Sprint - Race reports, chat etc. - deecee52 - 10-11-2022 There is hardly any difference in laptimes between full and half full tanks , i set my time on full tanks . The understeer maybe due to arriving at the corner faster when drafting , i didnt really notice a difference on raceday , but when we had a session on Monday laptimes where way faster and we had more grip , ambient temp maybe ? RE: TAGELE Sprint - Race reports, chat etc. - giorgetto giaguaro - 10-11-2022 Indianapolis Oval: Unexpectedly a beautiful race, perhaps the best so far, I'm talking about the second one as the first unfortunately saw me take a car out of control and I had to stop for 150+ seconds. In race two I started second thanks to the inverted grid, I managed to start well and take the lead until the third lap then it was time to let all the fast guys pass, after that I had two / three laps of beautiful battle with john Cook until the pit stop. I had planned to change only the RF to be able to start again in a short time and this made me gain other valuable positions. After a few laps there must have been some accidents so I gained some more positions, I was passed by Mel and I had Seb very close behind, we both kissed the wall on the last lap and in the end I managed to get an incredible P6 . I too saw that I was faster with a full tank, even before qualifying. In reality it might be possible, perhaps in the curves but not in the straights. A nice thing I noticeed about rF2 is the degradation of the tires, very well done! It was a different and beautiful race with a good grid of participants! Great job Myles! Jons glitch co-happened at almost the exact moment with Tim's accident where 2 drivers lost their front bumpers. I know with me I get a stutter if someone crashes, even if it was cars on the other side of the track to me. deecee52, post: 32040, member: 19 Wrote:Followed DJ into the pits for our stops but blew it by changing all tyres instead of just the outsides so DJ gained a lot of time on me .Yes it was good that, thinking where is he ![]() I did join the server 15 minutes early to test pits to see what gave the best stops. No tyre change gave the best time, but was only a little faster than a 2 tyre change so a 2 tyre change is what I picked. Oddly testing 1 tyre change was longer than a 2 tyre change which was odd. Of course we can not do this in Sundays race as the rule for Sunday League is all tyres to be changed. RE: TAGELE Sprint - Race reports, chat etc. - bullwinkle - 10-11-2022 lol it was the least I could do RE: TAGELE Sprint - Race reports, chat etc. - Myles (Mr Fox) - 11-11-2022 There is an element of randomness to the pit stop times - or at least there’s supposed to be if you look at CarStat. It’s entirely possible that your one-tyre stop, @DJCruicky, incurred a random delay and your two-tyre test stop didn’t. I’m glad that the feedback on this track has been good so far - thanks go to @deecee52 (I think) for suggesting an oval in the pre-season planning. I was a bit worried that it might be a bit dull - hence the decision to increase the fuel usage to force pit stops and also to use this as Mystery Track #1 rather than #2 (didn’t want the season-ender to be a damp squib!) Mystery Track #2 still isn’t set in stone but is intended to be a challenge for which you’ll be glad of a seasons’ worth of experience

Interesting that both sides of the event sound identical - ‘usually’ the experiences can be quite different.ED am i correct in saying that you have done a clean install of windows and that if you exit RF2 and then restart the program you dont get the crash? RE: TAGELE Sprint - Race reports, chat etc. - Edvvc - 11-11-2022 I did a clean install of windows not that long ago (a few months?) and have little appetite of doing it now since I have barely enough spare time to play the game itself. If I exit rfactor2 and restart the program I don't seem to get the crash. My trace files from when I have the crash always end at about 6000 seconds. RE: TAGELE Sprint - Race reports, chat etc. - deecee52 - 11-11-2022 do you play any other games ? RE: TAGELE Sprint - Race reports, chat etc. - Edvvc - 11-11-2022 not on this rig. rfactor2 is the only program that gets significant use RE: TAGELE Sprint - Race reports, chat etc. - Myles (Mr Fox) - 11-11-2022 Edvvc, post: 32063, member: 582 Wrote:not on this rig. rfactor2 is the only program that gets significant useAh well. You have a workaround. Just try to remember to implement it! we’ll try to remind you! RE: TAGELE Sprint - Race reports, chat etc. - deecee52 - 11-11-2022 did you reload Steam ? - try running this program then reload latest vid drivers https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html To me this almost sounds like the memory is not being flushed and its just accrueing info until it falls over RE: TAGELE Sprint - Race reports, chat etc. - Myles (Mr Fox) - 12-11-2022 deecee52, post: 32065, member: 19 Wrote:did you reload Steam ? - try running this program then reload latest vid drivers https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.htmlYep - or something is creating a substantial and predictable log that hits a file-size limit. Dunno if Cruicky has already asked what your rf2 logging level is set to….? I’m guessing from old half-remembered conversations that you don’t log to Motec - and did you check to see if rf2 replays are set to record to memory or disk? Whichever it is, try the other… It’s frustrating but you’ve got two excellent points in your favour - it is repeatable and seems directly related to rf2. Should be like shooting fish in a barrel o_O RE: TAGELE Sprint - Race reports, chat etc. - cookie - 12-11-2022 before you go thinking everyone was happy - nope - it was terrible .....do they run ovals in britian without yellow flags or something ? jeez man if your going to run ovals at least use oval racing norms ....crappy time..... i got wrecked in both races ....yellow flags change the game ,.......laps dont have to count under yellow either ....thinking ill just skip sunday RE: TAGELE Sprint - Race reports, chat etc. - deecee52 - 12-11-2022 We dont run ovals in UK Cookie so got to admit we are not au fait with the rules etc but we are open to advice from members RE: TAGELE Sprint - Race reports, chat etc. - Myles (Mr Fox) - 12-11-2022 deecee52, post: 32070, member: 19 Wrote:We dont run ovals in UK Cookie so got to admit we are not au fait with the rules etc but we are open to advice from membersYep. Didn’t even occur to me to change the default flag-rule settings. That said, we don’t run pace cars etc. in normal races - if you crash (for whatever reason), the rest of the world carries on. The only deliberate choice was to use a standing start as that’s what we’re all used to and previous experience suggests that rolling starts get very messy on the formation lap. To be fair, with the tight timing of the Sprint evenings, safety cars could play havoc with the evening and R1 at Indi was only *just* achievable without a pit stop. RE: TAGELE Sprint - Race reports, chat etc. - bullwinkle - 16-11-2022 Well, it's just not my time. Race 1 good start doing good had freeze hit curb flipped on side finished last. race 2 was going ok had big freeze then ctd got back in race finished 7th. I have to look in race 2 I was passed on back straight they pulled in front and hit brakes and I plowed them very sorry did not expect brakes the instant you got in front of me. Very sorry if I ruined your race. Well, when I had ctd I lost first half of replay so I don't know who I hit again sorry |
