Psinet Wrote:"We" being careful will not save you from being rammed. The replay showed the guilty parties. Sadly, they managed to get through and put their lights on.

Anyhow, for the record - was there a headlight warning or not?
Did we just miss it? I'm guessing that has to be it - I had them on at first...

Yes there was a headlight warning , its just that its not on for very long, if your concentrating on a corner you miss it , we could do with an audible alarm or a greater period of grace to switch them on

Here is the full video of my terrible first lap (all went terrible there),
Very scary moment at 1:00 ???
Also I hit Adam T from behind at 1:29 , sorry mate Sad, I was trying to overtake you when you also turned the same direction I was heading to avoid your damaged car.

Note: important not to overtake during yellow flags as it was at turn 2-3-4 (don't know if you get a penalty there but I was aware of it)

RE: SR4L Fun Race Sebring 24 hr time scaled - giorgetto giaguaro - 13-01-2013

I managed to overcome the areas of accident, and there started a good race for me. Untill the half hour where i had programmed my stop. Before entering in the boxi hit the wall dardlly and did a big damage (160secs). So my good race was gone and i finished in 14th position.

It was a great race with a great atmosphere and good sportmanship. The car and the track are wonderfull!

RE: SR4L Fun Race Sebring 24 hr time scaled - OldSlowFred - 13-01-2013

clearly I have not been spending enough time in rF2 ???
how do you all get such great replays?
I use triple screens and to say that my replays (or even watching race online after getting DQ) are crap is a bit of an understatement Sad
My replays consist of a horizontally challenged window surrounded on two sides by 'something' and what is in the center window is barely passable to view...

Maybe it's because of the tripple screen. In my replay what you see is as I see it on my monitor.

RE: SR4L Fun Race Sebring 24 hr time scaled - KnightofRedemption - 13-01-2013

Yeah triples cause a bit of an issue at the moment in rF2, sometimes I see them on the centre monitor, sometimes it seems all three screens are squashed into one, and sometimes it half appears on my right hand monitor.

I think this says it all.

We never have restarts at scheduled races, and this is as it should be, because if we start this, there is no ending it.
Quite simply, who is to judge for it and for what reason? Why shouldnt be a restart if Im left out when there was a restart when you went out and so on.

Also, people have timetables and they come in a scheduled race, expecting it to run according to schedule, we always do that, I really cannot understand all this fuss.

Very strange for me racing for an hour, I managed to keep my consentration more or less, avoided a big mistake, so I managed to finish the race in one piece, that was very rewarding.
What annoyed me, was all this chat during race, it went on and on and on.
So, I decided to stop looking at it, so of course I missed warning about headlights, but I had the sense to turn them on when things went dark.

All in all a very satisfying experience, I propose to do this every second week at our championship tracks.
(did I say I love the Lola? If I didnt, lets say it again, Lolalolalola!)

RE: SR4L Fun Race Sebring 24 hr time scaled - vittorio - 13-01-2013

After three days babysitting I enjoyed the race alot (even with less practice)! I had some luck (or could it be that im not a rookie anymore Smile ) in the first lap and could avoid a crash. But at the end of the race i couldnt sustain concentration and nikos got closer every lap .. thrilling! Since doing a 24h ( real 24h with driver swap) rfactor2 nordschleife (with a better mod) race sometime is one of my big dreams, i guess i have to work on sustaining concentration Smile

And yes, i love Lola too (24h nordschleife with lola!)

+1

the constant flashing of messages on the chat screen was very distracting especially when it was just someone joining the server and saying hello , i found i needed max concentration on these cars or they bite you

RE: SR4L Fun Race Sebring 24 hr time scaled - KnightofRedemption - 13-01-2013

The decision is made by the race steward and it is only done when a race start is like what we saw today, multi car pile ups. It really isn't rocket science. The race can be shorted by five min if that means folk can't finish because their schedule is that tight (unlikely). It is done in other leagues I race in with no problem...But it has been made clear here that restarts are not the way you do things...As I have said elsewhere, on this we must agree to differ.

I have no I idea, but I would say he was looking to the left looking for Johannes and he moved through him undeliberately, but causing the disaster.

Its not for me to decide these things, I find it logical personally, if you think a better way, PM Bryan as he sudgests in above thread, or start a thread about it.

I think that everytime a new event is announed we should do a pilots briefing to analyse the track, white lines that can or cannot be crossed as pit entry or exit lines, places not recomended to overtake, what to do if something like today happens, and a lot more things.

Theres a black spot. E.g. I have no chance (with correct FOV setting) to see the driver left/right behind me on start. I guess this was the case here too, and thats why i have so much expectation when finally getting a head mounted device with high FOV and head tracking (like the oculus rift). The black spot really makes me anxious.

Heh there was one or two folk cutting through the bollards coming out the pits. I think the expectation of a restart was probably behind most the frustration, myself and another driver actually pulled over we were so sure there would be one. Lesson learned! No restarts, no expectation of one Smile

There is an option in the multiplayer.ini to turn off chat while in car. We may be implementing this for future events.

Unfortunately it cannot be set for race sessions only. So it would mean no messages while in car for all sessions. You will only be able to chat while in pits.
