RE: Wed night Fun Races (2021) - Myles (Mr Fox) - 20-08-2021

I ended up using a variation of Ed’s too - his original wasn’t far off mine anyway so a couple of minor tweaks gave convergence.

’Interestingly’…

…it’s clear that individual drivers need quite different brake bias for the same setup (Petrolhead went further forward, I went slightly more rearward), and…

…the setup from Vallelunga seems to work well out of the box with (almost) all the tracks I tested yesterday for future races. Cool Hopefully, this augurs well for keeping the field tight.

RE: Wed night Fun Races (2021) - Myles (Mr Fox) - 25-08-2021

Some great racing again tonight - several new (to me at least) names taking part. The Mercs are doing very well…

Quite a few incidents but all (bar one - unacceptable conduct explained and dealt with offline) handled amicably, I believe.

I’ll get the next package up tomorrow (Thursday) hopefully - same cars but at a more flowing, open circuit I think….Big Grin

Looking foward for Suzuka or Donington!

I have just tried Snetterton 300 and its also a very suitable track

Yes, even Outlon Park or the Sachsenring. Telling the truth I didn't like so much Jarama.

Donnington National Circuit is up now - it’s a refreshingly fast and flowing short circuit and the laptimes suggest a nine lap race will fill the 10 minute target race time nicely.

We’ve done Oulton recently in the BMW 2002s but could go back. Sachsenreng looks interesting from YouTube videos of the GT masters - I like a track that isn’t flat! I’ll give it a try offline and maybe add it to the list, thanks.

You mean to tell me that some one did worse than me for crashing into everyone? Think I made contact with every one, sorry about that to all Rolleyes .
Donnington should be fun, I not drove there is years.
Thank you for hosting Myles.

I definitely think you won gold for the most number of collisions From what I could see:p

Donnie looks good so far - I decided against the GP circuit with its loop as the National flows very nicely and gives people a break from heavy braking!

RE: Wed night Fun Races (2021) - Myles (Mr Fox) - 02-09-2021

More close racing last night - possibly too close as it was virtually impossible to pass unless someone made a mistake and these cars don’t seem to draught worth a damn…

Apologies to Speedracerseven in the final race - I’ve looked back at our incident and IMHO it was a tiny kiss at just the wrong time.

Next track should be up by this evening - I had a brief test this morning and am perhaps leaning towards Portimao (Algarve) with the first-corner chicane as it’s a track that can generate a few different lines and opportunities (I.e. mistakes!)

RE: Wed night Fun Races (2021) - DJCruicky - 02-09-2021

Thank you for races again Myles. Good fun. The track was getting faster and faster each race as the rubber was getting laid.
Had the moment in one race where my G27 wheel went nuts on me recalibrating by it's self when on track and making me crash twice. I think it's down to a dodgy USB port that I have it plugged into (it's a bit loose). I switched to another port and all was good again for the rest of the races.
I still get booted after each session, I still not found the fix for that.

Portimao is good, I enjoyed our races with the Porsche RSR on it.

RE: Wed night Fun Races (2021) - Myles (Mr Fox) - 02-09-2021

I’ve (deliberately) loaded the Portimao/Algarve version with the T1 chicane for now. The big stop might shake up the nose-to-tail trains we had last night where no one could pass. It’s a shame these cars don’t generate a tow…

I’ll finalise the track layout by Saturday at the latest.

RE: Wed night Fun Races (2021) - 7th Samurai - 03-09-2021

is kissing allowed on this server? omg! hehe. no problem, Myles,
- it was an unusual, fast and dangerous place for an overtake that
might have startled you. i should have known better after an earlier
identical accident with (by) another car.

It started at the first corner with me running wide - which allowed you to come alongside - but then I had to compromise between leaving you space and making the left hander. I think we were both in compromised positions at that point - you needed to come across to the left to make the uphill right hander and I couldn’t keep tight left as I made the left.

Anyway, Algarve (Portimao) is up and running for next week - I’ve decided to keep the T1 chicane  Wink

RE: Wed night Fun Races (2021) - 7th Samurai - 03-09-2021

my idea about such overtakes is to always leave the left (in this case) line free until i'm fully through.
it might have looked bit wild, but i'm not a banzai, out'a my way kind of guy Wink and had space reserved for you.
now, whether i would have succeeded to slow down in time to keep at the right lane, we'll never know.

RE: Wed night Fun Races (2021) - Myles (Mr Fox) - 09-09-2021

A small turnout last night - partly due to some cracking weather in parts of the UKs waning summer - but some great racing (from my point of view at least) at Portimao.

I thought (and still think) the T1 chicane version of the track suited this kind of car pretty well and did tighten up the pack quite nicely without any daft incidents (other than the one where I drafted and passed Rick and Giorgio down the main straight but snapped completely sideways under braking over the crest….

As usual, I’ll try to get the next track up later today (Thursday) or Friday. We might revisit Portimao T1 at some point as I think it deserves a bigger field.

RE: Wed night Fun Races (2021) - giorgetto giaguaro - 09-09-2021

Yes, very funny night, even with a small field. The best combo so far for the 190e in my opinion.

I managed to have my first victory, but watching the replay I think I was not so correct with DJ at the last corner. I think the view of the mirror of this car is too mutch wide: I think that you can steel see the entire car (behind of you) even when it is starting to pass you by your side.

I totally agree to have another turnout at Portimao with abigger field.

RE: Wed night Fun Races (2021) - Myles (Mr Fox) - 11-09-2021

Matsusaka (International layout) this week - otherwise known as Suzuka….

Watch out for the final chicane - unfortunately none of the available layouts have a ‘nice’ final chicane that is easy to spot. The ‘old chicane’ version is probably the easiest to see - but it’s so tight that you’d have to negotiate it at walking pace!

RE: Wed night Fun Races (2021) - Myles (Mr Fox) - 16-09-2021

Note to self: Try to remember which buttons you’ve mapped to glance left/right and actually use them when rejoining the track after a spin at one of the fastest sections….!

Apologies (again) to Petrolhead for the initial accident (objects in the mirror really *are* closer than they appear) and Rick for pulling in to his path (I thought everyone was probably past and I forgot about the glance buttons).

My wrist is still slightly sore and my knuckle bruised after the ensuing SC2 Pro DD wheel whip!

Anyway, another pretty good turnout and evening of racing - it’s a great track (but I wish there was a better chicane layout…)

I’m away next week (22nd September) but DJ Cruickshank has agreed to look after the race evening - manny thanks for thatCool The reverse grids might be a challenge as DJC won’t have access to the server-side tool I use to flip the grid and the client-side method requires a lot of quick and accurate typing through the chat box…

I should be back on race-day on the 29th and should be able to remotely reset the track after the race on the 22nd.

I’ve reloaded Portimao T1 just now but might hold this back for the 29thWink so that I can ‘arrive and drive’…

RE: Wed night Fun Races (2021) - Myles (Mr Fox) - 17-09-2021

Right - decisions made!

For the 22nd, we’ll go back to Portimao with the T1 chicane. We had a cracking race with a small field a few weeks ago but there were many absences and we agreed we’d give it another go. DJC will admin - for technical reasons he probably won’t be running reverse grids (random grids if possible).

The following week, I’ll be back for the 29th, hopefully. We’ll visit the excellent Rouen Les Essarts ’74 track - I’ve just had a quick test and it should be another cracker…. Cool
