RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - gorgias1976 - 12-06-2015 ![]() Sim Racers 4 Life welcomes you to Season 5 of our Historic's League. After four seasons driving open wheelers, this season we take a little step forward in history and get to drive the historic Lola T280, a car that provides both a powerfull engine and adjustable wings. This tenth event will take place on June the 21st in the Mountain Peak Speedway. The Mountain Peak Speadway is a super fast oval where overtaking gets difficult due to its peculiar main straight (split by two K turns). This track will demand the most concentration of the drivers as a single mistake at this speeds will throw your car against the wall for a painfull crash. Note: Race start will be standing so be sure to practice enough race starts as the car's tail can have a tendency to move to the left due to the slight banking in the main straight. The event will be a single 200 mile race.
SR4L wishes you good luck for the season.

RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - gorgias1976 - 12-06-2015 Thanks Niko, Please everyone notice the special pitstop instructions. They are the standard procedure in oval tracks to avoid incidents when cars want to enter/exit pits. RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - DJCruicky - 12-06-2015 Looks good.
RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - 1959nikos - 12-06-2015 I was just asked by a new member if I use asymetrical setup for the oval. So, I remembered this http://www.simracers4life.com/index.php?topic=744.msg8757#msg8757 Take a good read at it gents, it really helps you set up for ovals. RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - jerry 33 - 13-06-2015 Nice Gorka ![]() hope to be able to attend this race - It is Father's day here in the states and Family stuff "might" interfere - we shall see. although my eyes will go :o after 200 laps ;D RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - gorgias1976 - 13-06-2015 200 miles, Jerry, not laps. Anyway 137 laps will be very demanding. ;D RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - DJCruicky - 13-06-2015 Arrrrh, I don't even know how to begin test for this race. I'm guessing 3 pit stops, but 2 could be possible on very worn tyres. Laps so short, there could be lots of traffic. Wonder if anyone finishes on the lead lap. RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - gorgias1976 - 13-06-2015 Considering pitstop time is high I think it will be always better to do a single pitstop and take care of the tires while driving. But as I only did a few laps test to think in laptime calculation I cannot judge it properly. Is the problem the right front tire or both right tires? RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - Paul Swire - 14-06-2015 After a 20 laps race going flat out I was down to 37% tread on my front right. I think it may have to be a 3 stop race if I want to carry on at that pace. RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - gorgias1976 - 15-06-2015 Everybody torturing the front left should look for a bit less understeery setup so effort can be shared between the front and rear tires. It will demand a bit more driving effort but that could be a difference. RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - Axe - 15-06-2015 what should I do when I will be lapped? how to handle blue flag? To choose upper line? or keep the racing line and lift off on straights? Steer to the left on the straights or keep and let faster guy to choose his way? or keep completely and only avoid contact when side by side? RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - 1959nikos - 15-06-2015 Axe Wrote:what should I do when I will be lapped? how to handle blue flag? To choose upper line? or keep the racing line and lift off on straights? Steer to the left on the straights or keep and let faster guy to choose his way? I was thinking about that last night. Since blue flag comes so early (almost before half a lap), and since there is going to be so much overlapping with such a small lap, if you keep leaving your line and slow down to let others pass, then you will loose half race being lapped. I think in this race we should keep our line and of course yield when side by side. What do you think guys. RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - gorgias1976 - 15-06-2015 I think the safest way is to just ease off a little bit at the backstraight just enough to be passed and not changing your driving line. During the rest of the track the best is to remain driving normally untill getting to the backstraight. I think in the server setting the "sensitivity" of the blue flag can be modified so it is waved not that early. I've done a little testing (with permission of my hand) and getting around 1% front left tire wear per lap (with a very tidy driving). At the limit of a single stop. I'm sharing the setup with you in case it helps though I find it very difficult to drive, very sensitive to steering inputs. For me the key in this track is: Turn 1, early entry not pushing the car, the banking will just get the car into the apex. Then remain at the very inside until opening the line for turn exit (Through the central mirror you should show no tire marks here). Turn 2, latter entry, don't try to enter too early or you'll run wide. When getting in to the apex be a bit aggressive (like a little push to the left to the steering wheel) so the car won't go wide and then remain in the line. At the second half of the corner try not to push the car to keep the very inside line or the front left will burn (mirror should show the minimun of tire marks here). RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - Ricknau - 20-06-2015 Weird that you can't load a saved real road in single player mode. Change the weather setting so it displays "scriptted" , I think it's then when you can chose the road file. RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - Ricknau - 20-06-2015 That did it. Thanks! Always some trick I didn't know. Slow learner. (and driver!)
RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - Ricknau - 20-06-2015 I wish we could get some folks onto the server for some practice racing. Just hot lapping alone will not prepare one for a race here. I need a practice race. RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - Paul Swire - 21-06-2015 Server is set for tonight's race. Good luck don't get dizzy ??? RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Lola T280 Season - Round 10 - Mountain Peak 200 - c.pucher - 21-06-2015 Hey guys, I'm sorry but I won't race tonight. I'm more or less taking a brake from sim racing at the moment, not on purpose (to start with) but at the moment I just can't set my mind for racing. I don't find the amount of time I want to spend on sim racing so I end up not touching the wheel at all. I need a "fresh start" and within the next weeks, after the exams, I should be able to do so Wish you guys lot of fun tonight, have a nice race!
