RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - BT44 Season - Round 8 - Nordschleife - Reports - 1959nikos - 29-01-2017

Never say Ill never crash at Green Hell, you will.

I hit barrier at second lap, I thought I wouldnt make it through race.

I did, I actually suited my driving with bent steering and I even had a good battle with Oscar, I was staying comfortably ahead.

Then, at 6th lap, I suddenly found coming after me Billy, Tobias and everybody??? What the heck where all these guys came from???

I panicked, hit barrier hard again, the steering stopped benting left but straightened up lol but car wasnt responding as it should.

as it was pointing straight, I decided to keep on but slower, so i finished a cool 14th, I hope Tim doesnt find an excuse to give me no points Tongue

Bad things tonight?
Paul was out at first lap (clever way to chicken out Swire)
Coyne missed the race
Hedlund didnt show up again

Great things?
Our man Jesus showed up after so long time Smile
(for those who dont know, Jesus is one of the members here from this league's start and a long time friend)

Place your reports here people.

Shocked
I had trouble making two laps at practice and felt like I would have a bad day. Qual 10th after only one lap no sense trying to climb it wouldn't work, but then the race I followed Bill awhile and his car was everywhere not of his doing I am sure then it cleared up, some fun with Harri then clear again for nine laps glory be my team mate right in front of me too (yea old guy)s. Turns out only thing I hit in 9 laps was the gate going out of pit stop opps thanks all, hard race for me.

RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - BT44 Season - Round 8 - Nordschleife - Reports - Harri Mac - 29-01-2017

Much lag, warp and invisibility. I had a crash in lap 1 when everyone went invisible and reappeared, crashed avoiding guy in front but it was probably lag. Sorry to all involved, you just can't brake on that corner without it being an issue.

I think I drove through a couple of people while all other cars were invisible too. Think you reappeared almost on my rear wing, hope no damage was involved.

Then the dead elephant effect came into being and the car was unresponsive and very heavy, hard to make it move but sometimes it went too loose and over responsive. It's just strange driving as it is now. Amazed I didn't end up more severely damaged, at least it was drivable.

Hope this is a bug in the update, hope it's fixed soon. At least I didn't have to park up to let the cat out, small blessings Big Grin

Santiago, Tim and I were running pretty close to each other and we all finished. Glad that Tim and I made some points - Nice.. Wink Good racing to all here - that was a tuff challenge. not only that track, but with all the warping and stuff..
Big thanks to all that make it happen - especially all that Paul is doing - keep at it Paul, we are ALL Hoping and Praying..... Smile
sorry not to see DC with us today, he was amazingly fast all week!
Congrats to Podium and us ALL!

Yeah, pretty close racing, very nice that all we finished.

My P5 in Q and Race was the best I could do on this place and on this time.

My first time surviving 9 laps at the Ring... driving as fast as I can...

I had very good sensations in the car yesterday, it all felt as if car always did what I wanted it to do.
Weather was not set on the server, and maybe that even helped me being more competitive.
Qualifying took a while to find the time. I went out as early as I could behind David just to get a clear road ahead. But not for a quick lap attempt but for a clean outlap and then make the time attack on the second lap. But I found several traffic on that lap and I had to abort.
The next attempts I also found traffic and only by the end of the session I had a clean lap good enough for pole position.

I had mainly practiced a no pitstop strategy with a heavy car, but seing I was in pole position I decided to go for a single pitstop and a lighter car to ensure I was not overtaken during race start.

Race was quite uneventful. Once I reached T1 in first place I drove the first lap quite cautiously. I saw I was making a gap so in the doubt David was going to do no pitstop and in the fear of getting trapped behind him after refueling and spending the rest of the race behind him (my car was not set up for overtaking) I started pushing hard.
By the end of lap 3 I was about to make my pitstop when I saw David had suddenly lost 10 extra seconds (maybe a crash) so I went out still in first place with David 8 seconds behind.
When David did his pitstop I had Ramon 30+ seconds away so I took it easy and drove taking less risks, finally making it to the end in a single piece.

Gratulations to all who finished the race on the Nordschleife!

Q – Although I didn't come close to my PB I still made it to P3, which was absolutely fine for me.

R – in a nutshell: I was third after the first corner and that's where I finished the race.
I went for a NO STOP strategy because I was a bit bewildered by the pits at the tourist layout. Since the tires should last if not stressed too much, I avoided the risk of f***ing up my race at the pits. So I tried to nurse the tires through the race, especially after I managed to open a gap to Santiago after the first laps. By mid-race I suddenly was 2nd when DJ pitted. However, he was closing fast and was on my back at lap 7. I briefly tried to push a bit to make it harder for him to overtake me, but my tires didn't want to play the game. I immediately went wide and opened the door for DJ. Anyway, he was out of sight quickly. During the last lap I had some traffic and I approached the lapped cars with caution. That allowed Dieter to close in during the last lap, but I managed to keep some advantage across the finish line.

Great track, great race, great result – although Andi couldn't make it to the race, RBR is still 2nd in the team championship. exciting!

The entire field was vanishing and reappearing from the start. Was driving close to Nikos' rear end so was a bit dicey. Since everyone in view was blinking in and out I figured it was me with the problem so I bailed out mid lap one.

RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - BT44 Season - Round 8 - Nordschleife - Reports - myself9 - 30-01-2017

For me this race was a reminder that, at Nords, it's driver vs the course rather than driver vs driver.

Qualied 11th. Which was a surprise to me. My goal any time I race is to finish better than I qualify. I knew that would be a tall order here.

I avoided some of the early race shenanigans and was up to 7th or 8th in the first minute of the race. Got distracted by teleporting cars and brushed up against a wall, damaging my alignment.

I thought I could survive the race with the damage -- I was only down a second or so per split, so I decided to push on with my steering wheel turned about 20 degrees when going straight. THAT delusion lasted about half way into the second lap. My car became undriveable.

So I decided to make an unscheduled pit stop. Fresh tires. Damage repaired. BUT I smacked the fence on the left on the way out of the pits and screwed up my suspension twice as bad as it was before I pitted.

Lap 3 -- I spun a number of times and dropped to 16th place. Time for unscheduled pit stop #2. Before the pit, I realized that DashMeter had incorrectly calculated the amount of fuel I was using per lap during practice. Fresh tires. More fuel. Damage repaired.

I fought my way back up to position 10 by lap 8. But, of course, I was a gallon short of having enough fuel to finish the race. SO, unscheduled pit stop 3. Tobias flew past me while I was refueling and I never saw him again. The final lap was my fastest lap of the weekend. A bittersweet victory.

Damaging my car while still in the pits immediately after repairing my car nearly made me ragequit.

RESPECT THE NORDS! Smile
