How was the race? It looked very warpy and laggy in practice so I gave it a miss. Did see on liveracers that Bill had made pole for first race, well done you Smile

Lol; I never realised the fun event was going on......
I stepped in during the last 2 minutes of warming up for R2 I presume (everyone left after that one, so must have been R2) and loaded a setup I made earlier this week.
No time to drive, start race. I just saw 21 laps and filled her up and still had no clue Smile

I just thought I'dd drive in the back and have some practice.
Had a good start, overtook one or two cars but let the ones closing into me by; no use in blocking when I didn't practice for a while with this beast of a car.
As it turns out; driving "relaxed" saved my day........I didn't make the mistakes I did in practice and so I could manage to not be last Smile

From what I've seen; it was a clear race with some grass trimming here and there, but no accidents.
Ow; halfway the race I started realising it was the fun event Wink

RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Fun Event - Lola T70 at Brianza - gorgias1976 - 20-02-2017

Warping was still there during the races.
Also during practice there were several "Synchronizing" moments.
Just 8 seconds to the beginning of race 2 a "Waiting for server" message appeared, fortunately it just lasted for about 4 seconds.

RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Fun Event - Lola T70 at Brianza - jerry 33 - 20-02-2017

yes, warping as per normal - sprinkle in "synchronizing" and "waiting for server" messages. 2nd race i was on front row, looking at waiting for server message and watching the field take the green! Gorka did that to me cause he was scared of my driving greatnest! Tongue
speaking of my driving greatness - first race - lap one, i put myself over the fence at the parabolica which you can NOT get out of that area - race over.
second race, i looped car in lesmose all by my lonesome.... but other than that - it was Greatness - for sure....... ;D

RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Fun Event - Lola T70 at Brianza - gorgias1976 - 20-02-2017

I started from the second row, went on side by side with the cars on the front one. Then looked left and suddenly Jerry you weren't there, not even in the mirrors. I was wandering what had happened.

thanks Harri,,, was able to hit a PB on the last lap of qualifying (1:25.671) to take the pole (gotta take advantage of those times when DJ doesn't show up Tongue) then of course I promptly blew the start :Smile(both races - there was no grid reversal), allowing Gorka to take the lead and ended up 2nd in both races....but yeah the warping was still there, and also was disconnected twice during practice - so no joy in that regard

Had some issues with my laptop. strange because it was alright on Saturday.

I had my laptop cleaned out, it was a little dusty!! Check the attachments.

Obviously it had been running a bit hot with the help of a tower fans and SpeedFan it was just coping.

After I got it cleaned it was running well without the tower fan, so afterwards I decided to clean up the software and removed SpeedFan as I thought it would no longer be needed. I used Logitech ARX on my iPad to monitor the temps. The CPU was running in the 50s but the graphics card started to heat up and went into the 90s and the laptop shut down during the first race. I moved the tower fan back into place and joined the 22nd race after it cooled down. After a while the GPU temps started going through the roof again, and I decided to leave the race before the laptop shut down again.

The only difference between the first test and the fun race was the removal of the monitoring software. I put it back on and Ran rF2 in an offline race. I started a race and let the AI drive my car and left it running for a few hours. After a little while the temp got up to 79c, I then turned the laptops fan on and the temp settled down to 72/3c. So it seems to have cured the problem.

I'll check it out tomorrow night. Hopefully the tower fan can be saved for the summer heat wave.

wow Bruce! that is getting pretty Hot.. I ran an alienware X51 before, it is just a little bit bigger than a Laptop and had TONS of heating problems, i hope you can move up to a tower - maybe you will hit the Lotto, if you do - remember your Friends...... ;D

RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Fun Event - Lola T70 at Brianza - Harri Mac - 20-02-2017

Bruce, I have a laptop that's always on, has only been turned off a couple of times in the last 6 years. I have it on a laptop cooler, it makes a huge difference to how hot in runs, you can get gaming laptop specific coolers. Not recommending this one, it's just an example https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Portable-Computer-Cooling-Pads/TeckNet-Gaming-Notebook-Cooling-Adjustable-Temperature-Display/B0164R65YC

Mine needs to be taken apart and have thermal paste reapplied, which will also help with heat.

RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Fun Event - Lola T70 at Brianza - Bruce - 20-02-2017

Mine is an MSI GX660R, in its day (it is over 5 years old) it was one of the top gaming laptops, up there with Alienware.

I use it pretty much all the time, it goes on after breakfast and stays on until the wee hours, then it goes on standby overnight.

I do use a cooling stand similar to that I have about 3 of slightly differing designs. I use one in the front room and another in my game room.

While testing the cooling this today I made an interesting discovery. I have been using Logitech ARX to monitor my Laptop temps, and while I was running rF2 I was getting differing results. At Monza running windowed I was getting around 60 with the load mainly on the graphics card. Later I tried the same test at Sebring and was on getting half the framerate. I changed to full screen and was getting better framerate but still only about 40. The strange thing was most of the load was being taken by the CPU (like it was with FSX). Not sure what is happening here?

If I get an influx of cash I may get a tower (I have 3 around the house; 1 is dead but the other 2 still work with there AGP graphics and single core processors), but for now I'll have to make do. Most of the time I get on well with my trusty old MSI. After all that dust and the rock hard thermal paste I'm going to get it cleaned and repasted each year. It still does all the non gaming work very well, and I do have my Xbox One S for playing Assetto Corsa.

RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Fun Event - Lola T70 at Brianza - Harri Mac - 20-02-2017

I've recently build an intel machine after years of AMD. Bought most the parts from ebuyer as they have good customer care, novatech are a bit cheaper though. Took a punt on an ebay graphics card but it's turned out to be a good one.

We live in the same town. If you decide to build a new tower and run into problems, just give me a shout, happy to visit and lend a hand if required Smile

RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Fun Event - Lola T70 at Brianza - gorgias1976 - 20-02-2017

Big layer of dust you had, that was completely choking the laptop.

FSX, eh? I really miss flying.... no time for it.

RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - Fun Event - Lola T70 at Brianza - Bruce - 20-02-2017

Cheers Harry, used to build my own PCs back in the day. One still running in my bedroom with yolk and pedals just a bit old. That has FS98, FS2000 and Century of flight. Struggles a bit with FSX but has a copy installed. AMD XP3000 can't remember what card it has. It was the fastest for AGP.
