RE: CLASSIC F2 LEAGUE - FINAL ROUND - INDIANAPOLIS - REPORTS - 1959nikos - 23-07-2017

That was looong!

After a quit start i thought I was doing okayish.

I didnt do any mistakes, Bruce had crashed in front of me and took Tobias with him, much more than I could ask for Big Grin

Paul in front of me took an early pit and I thought I had him.

I went into pits by lap 22 as the leaders were ready to lap me, so to save lost time obeying blue flags I went in.

Then, a rare for me thing happened, I overspeeded at the lane.

Coming out of the pits confused, I followed the side roads more or less slowly, so I lost tons of time to serve that Stop and Go penalty.

When I came out, Paul was a lap ahead.

Accepting my fate, I went along, till, 10 laps before the end, Paul went and hit the wall and I was back in front of him.

He was much faster than me though, so he kept closing on me every lap, till, last lap last turn, he moved inside to pass me.

I thought I knew where he was and I believe I was defending my racing line.

From his shouting inside teamspeak and from my mirrors seeing him fly up in the air, perhaps I was wrong.

Mr Race Coordinator please take a look at my incident with Paul and take the appropriate measures regarding points.

Thank you
The Bad Guy

This was a total mess for me , i forgot to change my gearing for the race so i was hitting the limiter before i could draft past others , then following Ron down the back straight he just disapeared for a couple of seconds and then reapeared on the end of my bonnet so we both went off , sry Ron nothing i could do to avoid you you were already on top of me . I pitted and restarted ok , i was lapping at a good pace , came up to lap Tim , I lined him up on the exit of 4 and started to draft pass but didnt realise he was pitting i tapped him before i could stand on the brakes , fortunately he didnt go off but i clobbered the wall and removed a corner , after that i decided to give up as it just wasnt going my way

RE: CLASSIC F2 LEAGUE - FINAL ROUND - INDIANAPOLIS - REPORTS - Keeper - 24-07-2017

Yeah, darn connection to Europe dropped out right when we were in a pack! I did my best Scott Dixon impression, amazingly the car continued running but was way squirrelly, so had to pit for repairs and took the four tyres. I did the remaining 51 laps of the race on that set of tyres. She was a bit loose at the end as the right rear burned off, but manageable. Unfortunately she also was about 2-3 mph off pace the entire rest of the race.

I was hanging behind the leaders two laps down for a good while in their draft, but then had a freeze up and suddenly they were half a straightaway ahead.

Lonely running after that. Finished on the lead lap at least, as the leaders had pitted in the mean time.

Those first nine laps were good, though. I just stayed in line as the top group pulled away from the rest of the field, then when Santiago started losing ground to the cars ahead of him I decided it was time to pass him. Kept doing it that way until everyone wanted to fight over 4th place, then our kablooie happened.

Yeah, very nice laps, I was enjoying my first time ever in the front group ( I think has to do with setups) sadly, came the Keeper ping incident that I saw in slow motion: After initial laps, Kiko, DJ, Rusell & Hart were leading the race in a very tight group and Minges, Coyne Keeper and me were running glued a few seconds behind, then, in the middle of the back straight Keeper disappeared in front of Coyne (I was just behind him) then reapears, Coyne hit him, I took the left way out to avoid crashing they but Keeper flew just over me and hit me very hard. I reached pits with difficult, trying repairs but the car was impossible to drive straight. DNF.

well it was better than I thought it would be I was having fun racing Dan back n forth and all was going well till I brushed the wall and it would not let me go then when it did it sent me right into the inner wall and I lost two spots and lost speed so Dimitris got me at the end. Dave I tried to stay down low on exit of 4 to pit I am sorry if I messed you up I really didn't even feel you tap me I will have to watch it Sorry if I hurt your race.

NP Tim it wasnt your fault at all , down low through 4 was my normal line , i got a run on you and went left expecting you to move over to the wall for the straight but you pitted as you had every right to ,so it was my own actions that caused my problems . Maybe we should fit these cars with indicators ;D

RE: CLASSIC F2 LEAGUE - FINAL ROUND - INDIANAPOLIS - REPORTS - Dimitris Papps - 24-07-2017

What can i say?
Defense and keep out of trouble!
Bad setup,no practice at all.
Did 58 low something in the practice before race but never managed to reach it again inqualy and race.
I took a spy look at how the fast boys were lapping and realised ....they took the corners flat out!!!!
I didnt, had to lift before turn the wheel and then flatout!
Tried to do so but the time and setup didnt let me.
So back to my slow style, avoid traffic and one on one fights.
Lost a loooot of time entering pits and getting out.
Tim was damaged in the end and 10th place i think was very good!
A lot of secrets about oval racing.
When at the beginning saw the race schedule i thought not to race last 2 ovals as not to be dangerous for others.
Well here i am now, raced both and very satisfied!

It was a great season,glad to know you guys,learned a lot,raced a lot!!!
Apologies to everyone i ruined their race and fun....
It was our first date,so didnt know your habbits and racing style!
Middle season started to figure out everyone's style.
Nikos was i big help to this!
Thanks Nikos!
You all are great guys and racers!

Looking forward to next season!!!!
Count me in!!!!!

RE: CLASSIC F2 LEAGUE - FINAL ROUND - INDIANAPOLIS - REPORTS - Dan Minges - 24-07-2017

Lots of fun!

I can't believe there were no yellow flags! I was real proud of how well my car handled until I spent some time drafting Kiko. Maybe its my driving -surely not...
Here is my setup: http://mf2raceIndy on Google Drive.

Spent most of the race drafting with Cruickshank. It wasn't as fast as I had hoped. Seems like the front car didn't benefit as much as it should. I was also overdriving corner entry which burnt up the right front and slowed me down. Moments of terror though.

At the end I smacked the wall in 1-2 and damaged the car. I couldn't keep up anymore so limped in 4th.

RE: CLASSIC F2 LEAGUE - FINAL ROUND - INDIANAPOLIS - REPORTS - Bruce - 25-07-2017

My cunning plan did not work. I used wings which allowed to go flat out all round. Was slower on straights, but faster in corners. The idea was to keep in the draft to stay up and on the last corner use my faster cornering speed to take the lead and win the race.

Needless to say it did not work. I tangled with Tobias on the first corner and then hit the wall. Took 130 seconds to fix damage. After that I never caught up. Pretty quiet race, hit the wall once after that but not enough damage to need a stop, then ran out of fuel with 2 laps to go so had to pit again.

Never mind, I'll get you all next time Big Grin
