RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 1 - KYALAMI - REPORTS - 1959nikos - 11-03-2018

It feels great to be back, I hope I can keep on.

Race one I struggled to remember how its done, like putting the right fuel in Tongue

Race two much better, I managed some points for the team and Im very happy after so much time away.

What about you all.

RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 1 - KYALAMI - REPORTS - dan bayford - 11-03-2018

It's great to have you back man I had 2 solid races got my fuel a bit wrong race 1 ok for race 2 couldn't catch john Sad nice racing though I'm sorry Harri holding you up in the pits thanks everyone

RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 1 - KYALAMI - REPORTS - Bruce - 11-03-2018

Did well in first race (for me), start not that great, was chasing Nikos, he went off I passed him, and in my enthusiasm wen toff at the next corner. I pitted early and took on enough fuel to finish race. Managed without any more incidents and was pleased to have finished 18th I think in front of Nikos and Paul (I think)>

started well in second race but hits spinning cars (sorry couldn't brake in time). Car damaged so did my pit stop, not ideal carrying full fuel load but it was OK in race 1. Got back on track and damaged car hitting debris on track. pitted but not fixed. So far back now gave up and went iRacing. That was interesting.

RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 1 - KYALAMI - REPORTS - 1959nikos - 12-03-2018

Btw I liked the short private quali.

It tends to screw fast peoples' laps so Im for it 100% Big Grin

RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 1 - KYALAMI - REPORTS - gorgias1976 - 12-03-2018

Kyalami is a track that really suits me and that showed on track. I don't think I'll have such good result in other tracks.

Qualy
-------
Almost ruined my lap as a I kissed the walls off the exist of the last corner in my outlap. Car felt very grippy during the lap and only had a bit of a moment going a but sideways on the final corner again.
1.19.0, good enough for third place.

Race 1
--------
Had a good start and went first into turn 1. Couldn't get Kristijan out of my tail, which was normal so when he finally went for the pass I didn't battle him much. Just decided to better keep the pace and try to open a gap to the pack behind.
By the end of lap 12 I went for my pitstop which took 50 seconds. Kristijan seemed to have some kind of trouble on his pits as he lost a lot more time and I overtook him there.
In the meantime Maciej was doing very quick laps and when he came out of his pitstop he did it ahead of me. I tried to chase him for the remaining of the laps but we was just too fast. Finishing finally in sencond place.

Race 2
--------
It was a bit of a disaster and I can't understand how I managed to finish again in second place.
I started avoiding incidents but on lap 2 or 3 braking for turn 1 side by side with other cars I lost a bit the rear on the dirty side of the road going for the inner kerb and taking a yellow car with me (was it Harri?). My apologies.
After the incident I was about 13 or 15th and held in a bit of traffic for several laps until it cleared. I also had a spin before the final corner after kissing the left wall.
Cars ahead started getting into trouble and that helped me getting to 4th place, 13 seconds from the leading pack.
Pitstop came, 49seconds and after it I found I was just a couple of seconds behind DjC and virtually in third place. Chasing him I could see his car moving a lot and he wasn't going as fast as expected. That helped me overtake him and end the race in second place.

RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 1 - KYALAMI - REPORTS - Harri Mac - 12-03-2018

Race 1 was ok, a few incidents some caused by me some not but I had fun and that was most important.

Race 2, was horrible but that was because I was very tired and not giving my full attention. I was enjoying driving with Jon Rarity but started making too many mistakes. Seemed best to quit and not get in everyone's way at that point. Funny thing was, 3 laps later I lost connection to steam so would have been booted from server anyway Big Grin

Was nice to see Paul in his skin Smile

DJ will be with me for next league race so I will bow out and just do the odd fun race and my Tuesday league with Jon Rarity.

Until next time gentlemen.

RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 1 - KYALAMI - REPORTS - bullwinkle - 12-03-2018

I usually don't say much here but I am a little aggravated at things right now. I wont even go into the wrecks or who is at fault but I will say the 50% damage is way to much of a penalty. With no damage after a wreck you could at least try to gain some spots back and have some fun racing after two long weeks of practice but with the damage if you pit for repair you go down laps and can never get them back or if you drive with damage you can not drive the car to your potential so its no fun that way either so you might as well park again after weeks of set ups and so on.
Maybe I am wrong but I thought we did this for fun for all not just the fast guys. As I watched race 2 I saw DJ do something I didn't even know was possible and it messed up another racer so I don't know guys maybe I am in the wrong league. I hope something changes soon to make it fun again.
I am sorry to bitch but it's just how I feel.

RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 1 - KYALAMI - REPORTS - gorgias1976 - 12-03-2018

It's interesting what you're saying Tim.
I think we could have damage disabled. I don't think anyone here is going to try to make an advantage in hitting walls. Also we around here never drive in such an aggresive way that would require damage to be enabled.
Considering we are racing short 30 minute races, time lost by an incident (like going off track and hitting a wall) usually is enough penalty as you lose several places in it..
In endurance races, damage has more sense as you can still repair and expect to recover some places but I don't think it's necessary here. Besides the BT-20 car becomes an useless car to drive with damage and there's nothin more frustrating than having to wait for 5 minutes inside the pits in a 30 minute race.

What do you think?

RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 1 - KYALAMI - REPORTS - 1959nikos - 12-03-2018

Even while Im one that got hit twice and almost lost my points in second race (btw some guys in here follow Kamikaze rules, Bruce was taken out first race with such a move) I cannot agree to have no damage.

Reckless driving should have its sequences, if there is no damage what would stop these guys to hit and take out everyone that slows them down?

RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 1 - KYALAMI - REPORTS - gorgias1976 - 12-03-2018

I'm not sure how black flags configuration could take part in it. Maybe getting a drive through if you go into reckless driving that causes an incident?

RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 1 - KYALAMI - REPORTS - sdancourt - 12-03-2018

Those leagues with higher damage % usually have more responsible drivers than those with lower or non damage at all, because damage percentage is a strong deterrent for bad driving behavior and bumper car races.

Actually, damage % force people to drive better and the better you drive, more fun you get.

Hi Tim, could you say what you feel I did wrong?
Because you have not written anything about what happend makes people think I did something manic when I did not.
If you are talking about my pitstop with Tobbis, well, I enter the pits from 2nd position to find him in my pit spot. I see to the right of him part of my red box showing and I park on it. Lucky for me the pit crew start doing my pit. Unlucky for me when Tobbis pit was finished and he starts moving forward his rear wheel got locked up with my front wheel. My timer is still ticking so I could do nothing until finished. He reversing and going forward lots of times, while I'm watching my damage meter fill up with damage. When my pit was finished we became unlocked. I left the pitlane and did the rest of the race with my wheel at 30 degrees angle. Don't know if Tobiss got damage too.

This frustrates me a bit because all this could have been avoided. Both I and KP wrote to try get everyone in warmup before the race to see if they are sharing with anyone by driving on their pitstop at the same time. I was there on my pit spot at the start of warmup but no one said they were sharing with me so I'm thinking great I'm not sharing. If I knew I was sharing I could have talked with the other driver what lap to pit on. Or to do what another league does to pit to one side of their box so there is lots of room for the other car. Here is a video of what another league does. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tP7lsSXW_ak

For the damage, I don't mind it being lowered, but I would not turn it off altogether.

Had some nice battles with lots of people. Few new fast guys too.

RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 1 - KYALAMI - REPORTS - bullwinkle - 12-03-2018

What I was saying DJ is that I didn't know you could pit beside someone else and still get service. I don't know if either one of you got damage or not because I was just spectating but It did certainly hold Tobias back from leaving his pit but again my remark was only that I didn't even know you could do it.
Maybe part of our warm up could be a mandatory pit check when needed so that doesn't happen.
Again you guys make the rules and I just drive mid pack so do what you will and its up to me to join or not join.

RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 1 - KYALAMI - REPORTS - gorgias1976 - 12-03-2018

At the next league I'll add a comment beside the warmup section to check pit boxes.

I think it's a good time to keep discussing about the damage feature.

RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 1 - KYALAMI - REPORTS - myself9 - 12-03-2018

I'm also of the belief that the less % damage there is during an event, the more likely people are to take chances.
RF2 is bit over the top as far as damage goes, so anything over 50% seems overkill. Unless it's hill cimbing Smile

Unless you have triple screens or VR, it's difficult to be aware of EVERYTHING that's going on around your vehicle. Contact with other drivers is going to happen occasionally.
All we can do is be cautious and try not to drive too aggressively.

It was a fun weekend for me. A few minor incidents here and there and I didn't drive nearly as quickly as I could have, but I had some GREAT multi-lap mid pack battles with a few different drivers. That's why I race!

It was good so see so many of the usual suspects return after missing last season. Fast new guys, too. Good stuff Smile

Onward to Oulton!

RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 1 - KYALAMI - REPORTS - 1959nikos - 12-03-2018

The problem with pit checking at warmup is that people go to the frig or watever.

We must insist that there will be a pit check at start of warmup and no one should leave pits till we are sure.

You clever guys figure the how.

Btw maybe its time some penalties for offenders in terms of safety should be given by Gorka or DJ.

RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 1 - KYALAMI - REPORTS - deecee52 - 12-03-2018

I had some good fun and good battles in this race which is what our league is all about , But , i am with Tim on this one set damage to zero , my second race was ruined by some debris on the track whilst i had the lead , this threw me into a spin then i got collected by someone else having an off , all this resulted in damage which destroyed my race .
If we use damage to control bad driving it can also penalise good driving , it would be better for the race Marshals to have a quiet word initially with any problem drivers and if they persist publicly penalise them .
The rest of us can then get on with having fun .

It should be mandatory to go striaght to your pitbox in the first minute of warm up , then there are no excuses for any of us not realising we are sharing

RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 1 - KYALAMI - REPORTS - Harri Mac - 12-03-2018

What bugs me more than anything else is when someone hits you they seem to come out of the collision with less damage than they inflict.
