RE: RACE INCIDENTS - gorgias1976 - 13-03-2018 Taking back the subject about race incidents. Taking into account that many of the race incidents happen during race 2 due to the reverse grid, I thought in more posibilities to discuss. Should the reverse grid be removed and keep with the grid after race 1? Should we disable points from race 2 so people wouldn't have the "need" to push too hard at the start of the race? On the other hand. Should we start studing race incidents reported by drivers? (would probably end up causing a bad mood between drivers) Should we keep as we are, and wait to see what happens on the next couple of races? RE: RACE INCIDENTS - 1959nikos - 13-03-2018 I think we should stop doing reverse grid, it adds a considerable amount of potentially dangerous situations. We could start studying race incidents, I dont think our members wouldnt accept the responsibility of their actions. The problem is that the weight of that falls on you Gorka, do you have the time to handle it? RE: RACE INCIDENTS - Bruce - 13-03-2018 As one who seldom finishes in the top ten this usually does not affect me. On the rare occasion I have finished tenth and have got pole It is usually a tight first few corners while the fast guys manage to get past. Other than accidents the fastest guys finish near the front and slow guys further back. So reverse grids can cause a lot of problems. Not sure if it can be done quickly but weight penalties would seem a better way of equalling out the field. If it is not easy quick to add ballast even fuel could be added or maybe an extra pit stop. Anything to solve start mayhem. RE: RACE INCIDENTS - gorgias1976 - 13-03-2018 1959nikos Wrote:I think we should stop doing reverse grid, it adds a considerable amount of potentially dangerous situations. I don't think there would be that many incidents per event, we could give it a try. I think I'd have the time analize them. I like the reversed grid because it adds other thrills to the race but considering it causes more harm than good to the people starting at the front maybe it would be time to get rid of it. Bruce comments about weight penalties. That idea has always come to my mind as a way to keep drivers closers during races. My idea is to everyone start week one with no weight handicaps. Then weights would be applied according to championship positions from 1st (max weight) to 10th (min weight). Let's say something like 1st-50kg 2nd-45kg 3rd-40kg 4th-35kg 5th-30kg 6th-25kg 7th-20kg 8th-15kg 9th-10kg 10th-5kg Back to incidents. If people agree in creating an incidents subforum, I would create a template people would have to fill when creating one with the objetive of adding the maximun information posible. The "acused" side would have the chance to defend his action and finally a decision would be made. We as admins would have to first discuss about posible "penalties" depending on actions. An incident would have to be rather serious for someone to get a real penalty, mostly someone who repeatedly is causing avoidable situations. RE: RACE INCIDENTS - kiko0602 - 13-03-2018 here we go again.i post this here because i dont know how to make private post :-\ i see you touched some topics im here about, but i leave it like this im not so good in writing English so i hope you can understand what im about.didnt expect it would be so long, but here it goes i dont write so often, but i guess when i do thing get little long + google help it take time to express your self in EnglishHI ALL!!long time no see..nice to see you all again some more some less ![]() i hope i get some answers from you guys and what you think,i write this because i like racing and i hope you do. so this is not written to prove something. some questions because i would like to know what you think about stuff i care when racing.you dont have to agree, just write what you think. some things are not clear to me here..thx few questions: -why not make warmup longer and make it mandatory to read what admins have to say before race and no chat till they finish!? like pit sharing, maybe fuel info, possible accidental errors in server setup... -why not tell new drivers about server freeze issue and possible pause in race? i had over 3 sec freeze.before that i was 6sec behind gorka and after that over 9sec. the biggest problem is that i thought my pc crashed and was letting my wheel go and then game started again. if i knew about problem i would keep my handa on the wheel -why admins lots of time come last on server and mostly at the end? -is it so hard to to adjust servers right on race day? like realroad not to change in drastic way from practice to race? make realroad presets little more realistic, not like someone spill a glue on track.. i think there is better way to make RR presets much better and realistic..just ask i will make one ![]() -how can someone attend to race without "one single lap of practice"? -is it normal to push 15 laps to gain half seconds from car behind and then lose 5 sec in one corner? because car lap down dont give a f... about blue flags? (cant believe i still need to talk about B flags) :o +blue flag cars fight with leaders a lot of times, and then he turn at corner making one of leaders crash..end of a race. look back button, mirrors dont exist for some guys, even when someone show their self couple of times to car in front. easiest part of the track, main straight. or sometimes they decide to let you go in hardest part on track after they battles you couple of corners.sometimes even lap -why there is no penalty system and some strict rules to follow? sometimes sorry is not enough.someone who practice whole week for race and then make just one or few laps in race because driver with "no practice" caused problems its not so fun.and usually he gets minor damage -why try to change rules/car every season? when those who practice more will all ways have better result in any tape of rules you set. (unless guy with less practice get in the way in race). so this is not helping slower guys to have better results.how can someone 1,2,3 laps always down make this change beneficial (car physic change every lap is not helpful)from heavy bus to light car.. to be clear, for me is not much of a problem. but for those without practice and right setup will be disaster.. i would rather apply 2 mandatory pit stops for better tactics in race.no need for x7 things -why if you want to help slower drivers to get up in front dont make some tips about track, braking points, fuel calculations,setups.. or even better make one day in week mandatory for practice race sessions, share setups to slower guys (but those who received setup from faster driver will not become faster in 1 lap.they need practice with it,minimum 50/70 laps..) so i would make 100 laps mandatory practice for race entry(shame liveracers not working anymore). i know you will say not everyone have time to do 100 laps over week. but if you do 10/15 lap per day at the end there you have +100 lap,and 10/15 laps are 15/20 min. not much and if you do more laps im sure it will help in race. i think if you dont have time for practice then you should skip online races till you get some.. to be clear, there are some of guys with less practice who perform good in races but sometimes dont. its just not fair if someone sacrifice his free time for practice for race, for nothing.. RE: RACE INCIDENTS - kiko0602 - 13-03-2018 -why not make/force rule, punished driver to do minimum 100/200 laps on server if he want to drive next race.+ points off that helps him like all other drivers next race.. -why not remove reversed grid?it caused more problems then it helps.. -why not make ballast if you want help slower drivers.lets say top 10 get weight penalty 2 race.+50,45,40kg... -let say there is a formula two champ in real life.. and how many guys(drivers)will jump next season in faster car(formula one)?? one?two?yes maybe top three drivers. but not whole field. my point is if you want to become better driver and advance in higher class you need to stick to one car for longer period and win better driver then you in that class. so my view is to stick to one car longer period and have some fun races with other cars.. if you not fast with car with 100hp its hard to believe you gonna be better with car with 400hp+.. i have no problem running car less powered -why change tracks what are proven to work good? (same like cars)i personally like all tracks.why? because i like racing and asphalt is asphalt and corner is corner. i think one of first rule in racing would be:to get know track better you racing and its characteristics and then set the car.. so track more familiar would suit better for league like this. but i like tracks you chose this season oulton and monaco a bit technical and hard, but im fine with iti have more questions but i leave it for next time.. if i get answers for this few im happy i know no one want to be criticized. its all good till there are no problems, but lets face it,this tape of sport(competition)needs some sort of strict rules to be applied if you want fair competition. we are not kids anymore so someone needs to take his responsibility for his actions.ME FIRST ![]() -i DISQUALIFIED my self from a champ going into J.R on purpose. :o first time in my sim racing career i did that.i had mini brain explosion for a moment :o . did i deserve ban?dont know, you judge. i wanted to race few races with you again and see if anything changed from my last champ with you.. but unfortunately things didnt change.same old story, with few exceptions. some drivers surprised me in a positive way, some are good like all ways and even better. but rest are wanna be fastest guy on track(without practice) or something,or i dont care its just fun race like guys.. that I will never understand.they will never get better in any tape of racing :'( some of you know i was racing a lot with F3fanatics(and some other servers) before joined sr4l league.some of you invited me here. then you probably know WIN is not so important to me,because i all ways was lifting to wait car behind to catch me to have fun if im in front or making bigger gap. or even let few cars ahead and try to have nice racing experience battling for positions. my favorite part i when someone slower come closer to top times and feel how is to battle faster driver on braking points, closer battles.. and then that *thank you for that experience* means a lot more but when someone is fast/faster im trying to catch him/them or try to make a gap for sure.lets face it,who dont want to beat faster drivers ![]() i will see if joining again if some things change here in future,if im not banned forever. but for now im off..i know you can race without me and have fun have nice day & fun but fair Champ cheers RE: RACE INCIDENTS - gorgias1976 - 13-03-2018 Lots of question and no time to answer right now. I'll answer the first one and with time I'll answer more. I don't think the freeze comes from server side, if you check at your Steam\dump folder you'll find a file named something like assert_steam.exe_20180311214450_1.dmp (that's the one in my folder) If you check it's date you'll see it's right when the freeze happened. That's why I think it's Steam which crashes for some reason at the exact same time every sunday for everyone and the game freezes while it tries to take back control of the network (Steam restarts and rejoins). Why it happens? no idea, maybe an internal Steam process? RE: RACE INCIDENTS - 1959nikos - 13-03-2018 Ill answer the biggest. I promise I will do at least 100 laps practice before I join Sunday's race

Every racer by then is expected to know the basic rules and to have read the announcement (which will include a text reminding to do the pitbox check during warmup). In case of a global issue in the server during warmup that affects the racing Paul will take care of it delaying race start if needed. kiko0602 Wrote:-why not tell new drivers about server freeze issue and possible pause in race?Already answered kiko0602 Wrote:-why admins lots of time come last on server and mostly at the end? We all have our private lives and we cannot guarantee we will have the time needed, or at least as much as we would like. Being an amateur non profit racing community we must be aware we can find trouble related to lack of real time administration kiko0602 Wrote:-is it so hard to to adjust servers right on race day? The main problem of server parameter is that many times a parameter change requires server to be restarted. Looks plain and simple, but everytime that happened someone had trouble rejoining, other lost their non saved setup and complained... But, what do you exactly mean by adjusting the server on race day? What type of changes? kiko0602 Wrote:like realroad not to change in drastic way from practice to race? We've had rubber discussion a lot of times in our brief history. The final decision made from our members was to have server adjust to have rubber autosaved day after day in the week. The problem came after people wanted to practice for the race during the week and found a green track. People left because it was useless for them to practice in those conditions and find a proper car setup. The way we have it configured now helps people join the server, practice and setup their cars while having the chance of racing other members online. I think a good option would be to have the server set back to green when Paul sets the server for race day, two hours before qualifying. People during practice would have to start rubbering the track again. kiko0602 Wrote:-how can someone attend to race without "one single lap of practice"? As you think, it would be best if people would have at least practiced the track enough to drive it fast. Well, we cannot force people to do that. As long as they don't cause a trouble on track I wouldn't worry about them. kiko0602 Wrote:-is it normal to push 15 laps to gain half seconds from car behind and then lose 5 sec in one corner? I understand what you mean and only have had this issue with one driver that didn't let me lap him and he even defended himself after the race as having no need to let me go. As it hasn't happened a second time I won't bring that incident up again. Blue flags must be respected and personally I've had no other isse with anybody else as everyone has been very polite to me when being lapped. I'd like to hear about other drivers about it. kiko0602 Wrote:-why there is no penalty system and some strict rules to follow? That's what we are discussing here, create or not a penalty system. kiko0602 Wrote:-why try to change rules/car every season? Lot about this. We consider a friendly league, friendly driving comes before competitiveness. Being a classic league we race the same tracks and cars way too often. Adding new stuff like the fuel multiplier comes from my very own, no other is to blame. As I've explained many times I do it trying to make people have different challenges, other way it would be as easy as load that old setup from that very car in that very track from last time we raced. I try, maybe in megalomaniac thought to give people new challenges. You are not alone in this, Dan has always complained to me about this too. Prior to every new season we create a thread to discuss about it, I encourage everyone to add their ideas (like yours about two pitstops) as normally this threads don't get that much talking. As I said before we are a friendly league and we cannot force people to practice 100 laps for every event. Me for example am a recent father. Almost all my free time I dedicate it to him and my wife. I can only find time to practice on friday night and or saturday or sunday early morning. I guess many people have their own occupations in their lifes and can't expect them to have the same practice others can take. I repeat, we are a friendly league and friendships comes before competitiveness. I was also very competitive when I started, that caused me anger, discussions and frustration that ended up in me taking half a year away from simracing. That helped me meditate my priorities in this and I realised I preffered driving for the joy of racing my friends than of the joy of feeling myself doing a racing career as if I wanted to become a proffesional racing driver. kiko0602 Wrote:-why not make/force rule, punished driver to do minimum 100/200 laps on server if he want to drive next race.+ points off Same reasons I exposed at the last question. kiko0602 Wrote:-why not remove reversed grid?it caused more problems then it helps.. As in the godfather movie, war between families comes every few years until blood is spilled and then everything goes back to normal. Same happens with reversed grid. Incidents happen, people get hot.... then people relax again, reverse grid works back again..... until we get too confident of our posibilities as drivers ans get into incidents again. Firstly the reversed grid was created as a way to let drivers from the back battle the fast guys and try to put them into trouble, but I also agree it we should disable for the remaining of the season (though it would make race 2 a bit boring). kiko0602 Wrote:-why not make ballast if you want help slower drivers.lets say top 10 get weight penalty 2 race.+50,45,40kg... As I explained some posts earlier I like weight penalties and would apply them if the majority wanted to. kiko0602 Wrote:-let say there is a formula two champ in real life.. I don't think this comes after lack of knowledge of a car. In our league there are some grown up folks that are not that quick, it's not car dependant, they enjoy driving at their comfortable speed. We never ask for a minimun to race with us. kiko0602 Wrote:-why change tracks what are proven to work good? Same as I said before. It's my intention to move people out of their comfort zone, that's why I try to "motivate" their brains by adding changes season after season (Though tracks are voted and many repeat season after season) kiko0602 Wrote:i have more questions but i leave it for next time.. All constructive critics are accepeted. I think the reasons for that can be understood from all I've said before. As english is not my mother language and my accent is terrible for not speaking it, and as I don't have the time to review all my answeres I hope everything is well explained and I'm creating no extra misunderstandings RE: RACE INCIDENTS - gorgias1976 - 13-03-2018 1959nikos Wrote:Ill answer the biggest. My apologies Tim. RE: RACE INCIDENTS - lamer of fortune - 13-03-2018 I suggest to skip the reverse grid and leave the rest as it is. Despite the time commitment this is a mainly a fun thing to me and I prefer this and the friendly and welcoming athmosphere over agressive professionalism even if it sometimes hurt. post race reviews or marshalling I consider a dangerous and troublesome thing after having witnessed how low it can go on F1SR with unmanageble flame wars and personal insults. The danger of boring races: I roughly know where I belong in the grid. Making it there at the end of the race and sometimes a bit higher is exciting enough. I dont like battling the fast ones when it just feels liek holding them up and potentially ruining other peoples race. RE: RACE INCIDENTS - cookie - 14-03-2018 how about if we just continue with our tried and true system already in place and see if we can all improve in the next couple races and reassess mis season after we are all used to each other etc .....we've been through this before - the first year was a wreckfest at the starts ....i think we are all better than we used to be but dont spend enough time together on track lately ...say it isnt so :-[ RE: RACE INCIDENTS - kiko0602 - 14-03-2018 lol Nikos ok i exaggerated a bit, then 25/30 laps would be good for a start for everyone Thank you Gorka for your time for answers I understand you perfectly what you mean about free time, especially you with small child.my friend Marko (team mate),is in same situation like you. so i understand your position.i know how you spend your free time.and im grateful for what you do here guys, for sure. im happy with your answers and glad you looking at things to make it better chat announcement is a good way to keep drivers informed about pitbox sharing issue(specially new drivers),setup saving when restarting server..im glad you will introduce that in future im fully aware that admins have extra things to do to make all things happened here, what means extra time.and i know you doing this for passion not for profit but i was more about being there when practice start so you can check everything is ok with server setup..then you can leave if you dont have time ![]() about race day adjustments i was thinking about if you have all week one preset of rubber, dont change it on race day.the car reacts different as you probably know. some times from practice to qualy even race, car reacts completely different.so its hard to make right setup for car and its not very pleasant to drive like that. i think you should setup the server over week with race day settings.same practice, quali, race length. i think most of you know when practice offline sadly is not like practice online.same goes with devmode and game it self.thats rf2 flaws, the car feels different. plus you should made one good rubber preset(bit more realistic),set it to static and use it for P,Q & Race.so there is no big surprise when race starts. if you let AI to make rubber is not very good, because sometimes modder of the track is not so good in racing like in modding so at the end AI dont drive like it should and rubber is on the wrong place on the track.to make better AI you need to make very good laps when making AI..but thats another story.in rf2 you can make really good RR presets.having a glue on track is like having some sort of aid in games like gran turismo.. RE: RACE INCIDENTS - kiko0602 - 14-03-2018 -friendly driving comes before competitiveness- thats my point to.but some drivers here mention they dont want aggressive professional rules what i never mention here.. lets say like this..you play football(soccer) with your friends.everyone knows rules.are you gonna tackle him aggressive if he runs toward your goal?are gonna tackle him at all? if you tackle him and he complain its a foul or penalty, are you gonna deny that?or you gonna let him shot penalty and take responsibility what you did? my point is if you play any kind of sport(game)there are rules, and if you respect your friends you will stick to the rules of the sport(game)you play. more you follow the rules, more likely everything will end fine.after you can all go to beer and discuss about the game. one more ex: so you play chess for fun with your friend are you not following the rules of the game??i guess you do.and you dont want to win??i guess you do anyone who say they play just for fun it true.but when they say they dont want to win or be better then someone its a lie.why you play then?there are many other things to do! every game is competition, some more serious some less..depends of money involved.but all of them have same rules!!and all of them have winners & losers from kids games to grown ups games.. if im not so good in something, i will not play it any more or i will try to be better next time,or i will let my friend to win because its fun and he like it a lot. but next time maybe my friend will not call me because its not so fun to him anymore to play that game with me.he want to be challenged so he call another friend.. em i angry at him??of course not!! so its up to me if i want become better or not!fault is not the rules of the game,or how hard they are..if i want more fun with the guys i like to play the game i need to do something to get better! rules can be changed but again it needs to be followed ![]() so we can remove red card rule in football, but that does not mean you can brake legs to your opponent ![]() so for BLUE FLAGS i would enable server option(if exist.but i think its there)2/3 warnings before drive true penalty or DQ! so if you ignore blue flags you have penalty.you like it or not one under question! would you play this game if game have default strict rules and no one can change that?like 100% damage,BlueF DQ,cut DQ and so on.. about penalty system! when someone ruins other driver race/fight for win champ what would for you be best solution? 1:nothing!!its just fun.next time more luck.. 2:just some warning!!few sorry, next time more luck.. ![]() 3:1x warning!!ban from next race if happens again 4:over week at least some amount of laps on server to participate in next race 5:over week must complete one simulation of the race(if servers are conf like race setting)to join next race 6:taking points off from champ:light contact 5/10 points, hard one 10/20.if there are complains 7:must pay to SR4L from 0.10/0.50 $ for every contact he made in race some sort of marshall would be required to analyze contacts and seriousness of accident.8:add ballast for next race or virtual drive true penalty or stop & go..it easy to check if driver made his penalty from logs,replays.. like you can see there are many solutions what can be applied,i have some more but you see the point..ok first two are just there because its like that now for me 4 and 5 are the best solutions but things can be mixed i know 7 would be best for SR4L guys
