RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 5 - SPA - REPORTS - Ricknau - 13-05-2018 This track is all abut luck and survival. Race 1 - Qualified P4 but some guys were a bit faster in practice than my qualy time so felt lucky to be there. Got thru Eau Rouge OK then glanced back at Malmady and saw an empty track so then felt really lucky to have missed whatever caused that. From there I raced alone for 8 laps except for Kris catching and passing me on about lap 2. Some bad luck by others gave me P3 at the finish. Woohoo, I'll take it. Race 2 - My luck ran out. Started way back in the grid. That's Ok, we do what we have to do to move things along. But now I'm in more traffic than the first race. Got bumped off track on the Kemmel straight but no damage so no problem. Recovered and motored on only to look back again to see a nearly empty track behind me. Followed a couple of cars at about 50 yards and felt safe. (You're never safe at Spa!) But at Stavelot one of them wrecks and spins across the track. I make avoidance moves and get past him but my move rams me into the billboards. Wheel off. Game over. But the P3 in race 1 soothes the pain of race 2. RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 5 - SPA - REPORTS - Harri Mac - 13-05-2018 Quali was ok but then things started getting super strange. I pressed Race during warmup and my car was like a pencil with wheels on, everything looked 10x further away than it was. Race 1 - I tried to drive but it was impossible, like looking through the wrong end of a telescope and trying to drive. Race 2 - Managed to avoid a lot of bingles but then on lap 6 at the start I got some minor flickering which started to get worse. At the corner (Les Combes?) it got really bad, I had intermittant control of the car, ended up upside down, the car righted itself and the game minimised to desktop. I managed to bring the game back just as DJC and Gorka were crashing into me. So sorry guys. Then I couldn't ESC out and the game minimised again, when it came back I got out. I watched the last survivors of the "zombie invasion race for your life" blasting around but even that was broken and jerky and very weird looking. The zombie gremlins were massing this night. T'was fun until it wasn't. Heh, heh, heh. RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 5 - SPA - REPORTS - myself9 - 13-05-2018 Killed myself both races. Damnit. RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 5 - SPA - REPORTS - sdancourt - 14-05-2018 P5 on Race 1 but lost Race 2 because must go to mother“s day celebration. RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 5 - SPA - REPORTS - gorgias1976 - 14-05-2018 Crashed both races by the end when being second with no pressure from behind, shit happens. RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 5 - SPA - REPORTS - lamer of fortune - 14-05-2018 training sessions were fun, both races were too short for me to establish any emotional state. R1, three cars in the air in front of me. Will I be lucky? No, luck was not on my side. R2: everyone behaved at start, sneaking up to Tim, touched grass, lost control, hit wall, game over Cu on the next track RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 5 - SPA - REPORTS - bullwinkle - 14-05-2018 Needless to say I hate this track car combo. All week was not able to make any complete laps today practice I think I made one. In qual I made one and got 13. Race one I was doing ok in lap one and then the car did not do what I wanted crash boom race over. Race two because we had no admin to set grid I ended in front on grid tried to stay out of the way fell to 9 then the crashes started and I made 8 complete laps and ended 5th. All luck for sure. I felt awesome just because I was able to make 8 laps. RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 5 - SPA - REPORTS - argl - 14-05-2018 Judging from the reports, removing the haybales was not enough to make the track any less of a challenge
RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 5 - SPA - REPORTS - thmxvr - 14-05-2018 Belgium, my home race, a track I know well and enjoy to drive but suck at keeping the focus level required to survive. Race 1. Starting 9, I was in the middle of the pack very aware it was not the best spot for survival, the start was very slow and safe, cars around all waiting to get up to speed and through eau rouge and raidillon safely. Accelerating for the kemmel straight and the down hill but still everybody driving safely respecting a safe distance with the car in front. Coming to Burnenville way slower than expected, even for a first lap, the guy in front pushed wide slammed into a house and came back bouncing onto the track. I was the first to collide with it but not the last. I don't even know if someone behind made it past the wreck site. My car had still all wheels on and it looks like I might have been able to limp to the pits, unfortunately there was no escaping the backyard of those fine Belgian people. Race 2, Starting 19 I could go really easy without fear of being rear-ended, so that is what I did. Crash in the middle of the kemmel straight far in front of me, I brake in emergency, and managed to stop the car with a couple mm to spare before impact. Maneuvering, re-accelerating, I was now all alone. I pitted at the midpoint and exited right on David Cruicksand's tail, I could follow him without any issue and even had to lift a few time, but I wasn't loosing time so decided to stay put (at least until the ending stages of the race). After a couple laps we came into les combes to discover a car parked in the middle of the track. David went right, I went left, I thought 'at least one of us will survive' but I was wrong. I tried to limp to the pits with my steering totally bent, but could not and lost a wheel a bit later. I put the blame onto the "crash physics", when hitting a house wall flat at 300kph, I expected most of the wreck to be in the living room, or disintegrated, not to bounce back in one piece and go pinball murdering the other cars. https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/better-crash-physics.60082/ RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 5 - SPA - REPORTS - gorgias1976 - 14-05-2018 As I suggested I'd take race 2 from scoring points as the grid was messed up, but that's just my opinion, up to your suggestions. Sorry there, the crashed car was me. I was having gremlins real bad, the game had crashed to desktop and I could hear stuff but had to close the browser which had opened over the game. I closed it to see you both crash into me. I propose that next season we do Le Grande Circuit instead of Spa, I think there would be more finishers. First race got caught up in crash near start. Pitted on lap 2 to fix damage then went off and got hung up in barbed wire. End of race. Second race, hung back and missed crash near start. When passing a damaged car though he had moved accross to let me pass only to be forced of road. Came back on track and went wrong way, got DQed. RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 5 - SPA - REPORTS - gorgias1976 - 14-05-2018 Thing that worries me now is having no news from Paul yet. RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 5 - SPA - REPORTS - deecee52 - 14-05-2018 This was very much a meeting of 2 halves for me , bad luck and good luck . Race 1 Bad luck , Stupidly pushing too hard too soon on cold tyres , falling off at La Carriere and paying the penalty of becoming an early spectator , fortunately I didnt spoil the race for others. Race 2 Good luck. Safely getting through the crash on Kemmel undamaged and emerging on clear track and then 2 laps later charging up behind 2 cars going into Burnenville who tangled and went striaght up allowing me to pass underneath safely , otherwise I would have ploughed into them and finally finishing somehow in 3rd place . Great result from my Teamie Tim who gained valuable points to keep those C&N guys at bay . Big thanks to Andi for track mods , despite the crashes the mods worked , I think all crashes were initiated by driver errors or being in the wrong place at wrong time , the only debris available to hit was car parts . RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 5 - SPA - REPORTS - bullwinkle - 14-05-2018 good job dc thanks for your help and your speed up front RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 5 - SPA - REPORTS - lamer of fortune - 15-05-2018 would it be an option to lower damage next time we challenge Belgiumagain not needed for other tracks, but it would help to improve the time spend in training vs time racing ratio for some loosers like me. Must have been close to 200:1 RE: BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 5 - SPA - REPORTS - deecee52 - 15-05-2018 The main problem with this track is down to speed and the crash physics , when thing go wrong it happens very very quickly so you dont have time to react . The crash physics are all wrong , if you hit a fence at 150k you would pass through it , in bits maybe but through it , if you hit a house at that speed you would stop dead and be spread across the front of it , but , on this track the bulk of the car always bounces back across the track and thats what appears to cause the major pileups , would 100% damage stop this ? |
