RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 3 USA Long Beach REPORTS - Fergy - 04-11-2018 Great turn out, 24 on track at the start is a credit to SR4L and our best this season. It's been a real challenge but fun at the same time, what it's all about. Apologies to Ed, I was trying to get through the tight T3 and 4 to get off the race line to let you pass. Apologies to Dan, I just had no chance of stopping. Looking forward to reading some race reports here. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 3 USA Long Beach REPORTS - Edvvc - 04-11-2018 That was indeed a challenge, and even after coming to a halt with the engine switching off after encountering a car across the track, I managed to keep second place. Kristijan later appeared to have heavy damage and I took the lead. This was looking very promising. Daniel Tani was behind me and I was managing the gap, but he started to push as my tyres seemed to grip less and eventually caught and passed me when I outbraked myself defending into T1. Bryan, from my viewpoint I saw you being given the blue flag, waited for you to move off line which you seemed to do but after I put my foot down you moved back onto it so we collided. Hope it didn't seem I was trying to ram, but I knew Daniel was chasing me down. Tobias, I was lapping you and was hard on the brakes and locked up, sorry. I pitted on lap 22 to take on fuel and tyres, leaving the damage unrepaired but on the pit exit the phantom brick wall appeared, totally destroying my car. This happened to me on this track only once during practice - unlucky for it to happen in the race, but shows how broken the track is and for this reason I don't think it was fair. An unrealistically bumpy surface and walls which rip half your car off are challenging for everyone, but to be taken out by an unpredictable invisible solid object appearing on track (which most of the time is benign) feels like I was robbed. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 3 USA Long Beach REPORTS - edwin - 05-11-2018 ^^ thank your admins bout that @Edvvc .........sorry for the rant but i still don't get this decision. i'm glad i didn't put time in this event......!!!! RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 3 USA Long Beach REPORTS - sdancourt - 05-11-2018 First race completed this season. good setup and good feelings. Qualy: P13 enough for me. Race: survived the first 3 laps in P12, when a foolish mistake forced me to enter pits for repairs, 57 sec, rejoining on last position, worked very hard lap after lap so ended P10. Happy. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 3 USA Long Beach REPORTS - Dan Minges - 05-11-2018 Got some early damage requiring a pitstop which put me a lap down. Had a great battle with Dan Bayford amid faster and slower traffic. Worked my way back to 12th and was entering the last long straight. I just brushed the wall and it took off my left rear. Not well modeled... I hate all street circuits. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 3 USA Long Beach REPORTS - gorgias1976 - 05-11-2018 I'm pasting Ricks post from the thread he opened at the right subforum and moving this thread to the right place: Ricknau, post: 26018, member: 230 Wrote:Sorry everyone, I'm the goat who crunched and jammed up the field in T1. I lifted early but didn't slow enough and locked up. (Green side of the pavement?) I hope everyone could continue. Very sorry to those who lost so much time. After that my focus was gone, broke off my wing racing alone on lap 2. Esc... RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 3 USA Long Beach REPORTS - gorgias1976 - 05-11-2018 Top 3 cars went in a no stop strategy. DjC being quite careful in his driving, probably looking a lot after his tires. JP and I more careless with tires, took us a big effort to pass DjC by half of the race. My setup seem to work very nice in this slow 90º degree corners in heavy fuel, causing very low wear which worked pretty well till the end of the race. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 3 USA Long Beach REPORTS - deecee52 - 05-11-2018 Qually I could see I was going to struggle to get a good grid placing here , the Brabhams have a definate edge over the Maclarens so I was gratefull to make the third row . Race I had been practicing starts here as the poor grip made getting off the line difficult , it paid off ‘almost’ , picked up 3 places and entered turn 1 in third then my world exploded , I got hit hard and pushed into barrier then I think everyone wanted a piece of me , I just kept getting hit . Eventually got going and was very surprised to find the only damage was a missing front wing , pitted for repairs and rejoined just in front of leaders , had to give way when blue flags were shown but I thought I would let them drag me round , came out of turn 4 on the short back striaght only to see Bruce broadside in front of me , white car , white walls , white track , I saw him too late and brushed him which spun me into the barrier , no damage but DJ and JP were on me so had to give way to them , I then had a very frustrating drive , I knew I could lap faster than them but I couldnt overtake as it triggered the blue flag again so I just had to wait behind and hope for mistakes , saw very unlucky problem for DJ , he started to turn into turn 5 when Oscar suddenly appeared alongside him and took him out , it must have been an almighty lag as Oscar was not anywhere to be seen on the whole striaght . Got the car to the finish in one piece but was mega frustrated . Can anyone recommend a good polish to remove teeth marks from a wheel rim:mad: hard luck Ed you were indeed robbed . Please Admin no more Mickey Mouse tracks like this please RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 3 USA Long Beach REPORTS - bullwinkle - 05-11-2018 Well I did my PB in qual but I guess everyone else did too as I kept falling down the list ended in 16th spot. Race turn 1 was wild but I managed to get thru and the race was hard but uneventful except for a turn one where I thought Ricky was giving me the corner but I guess he did not see me and we collided. Sorry Rick. As I plundered thru I kept seeing people leave the race then passed some guys having issues and ended 5th wow what a surprise. Thanks to my team mate for all his help. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 3 USA Long Beach REPORTS - Bruce - 05-11-2018 My first points finish and first points for Team Shunt. Missed qually, but probably would have been at back still. Managed to miss melee at turn one, but span on last turn, touching wall but no damage. Trouble was I was stuck to the wall, by the time I freed the car the leaders where lapping me, I got hit and this stalled the engine, meaning I couldn't drive out of the way, meaning I got hit again and had to start engine a few times. Afterwards the steering wheel was wonky so pitted and got it fixed. Running a few seconds (quite a few) of pace (me not the car) I was lapped a few times but managed to keep out of the way, so finished without any more incidents. Was quite interesting seeing wheels and bits of car littering the track. Gradually I crept up the field as others had to retire. Note to self, don't try to win, just concentrate on completing clean laps. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 3 USA Long Beach REPORTS - Bruce - 05-11-2018 BTW where are the results, I can't find them. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 3 USA Long Beach REPORTS - bullwinkle - 05-11-2018 They are not done yet Bruce I am at work and will finish them when home. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 3 USA Long Beach REPORTS - Bruce - 05-11-2018 Sorry, I think I just realised that. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 3 USA Long Beach REPORTS - hangon - 05-11-2018 Hi,a newbie here, finally had a decent finish, and at a track I thought was most likely going to be a disaster caught in collision I had no control of.After alot of practice, decided to go with no pit as tire wear seemed minimal, ended up been a good decision.Got caught in a two small crashes..damaged frt wing but did not pit,it was manageable.Drove very defensive, stayed out of trouble and finished 4th ☺️ kudos to SR4L for good organization, awesome grid, competitive racing and a very good series...looking forward to the many upcoming races...thanks for having me in your series competition RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 3 USA Long Beach REPORTS - deecee52 - 05-11-2018 bullwinkle, post: 26032, member: 333 Wrote:Well I did my PB in qual but I guess everyone else did too as I kept falling down the list ended in 16th spot.Well done teamie that was smart driving , you got us some good points and were gonna need them RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 3 USA Long Beach REPORTS - DJCruicky - 05-11-2018 Gorka Wrote:DjC being quite careful in his driving, probably looking a lot after his tires. When I put on fuel, and hard tyres, the car was like driving a slug, lol :p. I had to check at end of race to check if I put rain tyres on or something. This was my first race I had no idea on race strategy or setups. Hard tyres or soft?deecee52, post: 26029, member: 19 Wrote:saw very unlucky problem for DJ , he started to turn into turn 5 when Oscar suddenly appeared alongside him and took him out , it must have been an almighty lag as Oscar was not anywhere to be seen on the whole straight .Yes, his car just transported inside my car. Then he would not let me lap him for a whole lap. I think I wore out my horn button. I still finished 3rd, good result , but only because a lot of the fast dudes had issues.

RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 3 USA Long Beach REPORTS - Bruce - 06-11-2018 Cheers Fergy. Just seen the results, wondered why I got no points. There are points up to 20th, and I understand that if you DNF you don't get points, But I did finish normally albeit a few laps down. Looking at the results I did complete over 75%, admittedly by only a quarter of a lap but it was over. Only reason I can see/think of is Mel who finished in front of me was DNF as where all the cars behind me, so I was in a sea of DNFs. The points would have been a boost for me and the team.
