RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 14 Canada Mosport REPORTS - Ricknau - 05-05-2019 How was your race? RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 14 Canada Mosport REPORTS - Edvvc - 05-05-2019 I qualified 2nd and was on DJC's tail and about the second lap I ran wide and trashed my car Can't even blame my wheel - just me getting it wrong
RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 14 Canada Mosport REPORTS - Keeper - 05-05-2019 Back to my usual spot of being a mid-pack runner. Should have had sixth but when I looked to make sure DJC wasn't trying to lap me into the last corner before the back straight, I put a wheel in the grass and spun, dropping to 7th. I probably could have gotten 6th back if I hadn't made a few other small mistakes on the ensuing lap that dropped me about three seconds back. Clawed most of it back but ran out of laps. Otherwise a clean run, only hitting the wall when shoved off the track on the back straight on the first lap. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 14 Canada Mosport REPORTS - Fergy - 06-05-2019 4am the Alarm goes off, I hear the words..."You're crazy" Another great turn out to the Event, 19 on the grid. I'd love to see mid 20's but we're working on that. Congratulations to @DJCruicky, amazing qualifying lap and race. Well done My race went pretty well. Starting from 5th I found myself in second for almost half the race. I pitted around lap 24 and for what ever reason the stop was 27 seconds although in testing it had been 21 to 24. I had some fun chasing @Daniel Tani towards the end of the race but stupidly run a little wide dodging Bruce (my fault) put a wheel on the grass and luckily did a full 360 degree spin. Lost around 7 seconds to find @J-P SImard hot on my tail for the remaining laps. Earlier in the race he had let me pass. I had some inside information he was on a one stop (from JP himself ) but at this point I was not about to return the favour .I managed to hold on to the end to take 4th. Very happy with the result. Just a couple of rounds to go. Hoping we finish strong with good numbers which should really spring board us into the next season of racing. Well done all. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 14 Canada Mosport REPORTS - lamer of fortune - 06-05-2019 Lost grip on slippery outside of turn 1. Bent steering, lost wheel on the way back to pits. Game over. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 14 Canada Mosport REPORTS - J-P SImard - 06-05-2019 Congratulations DJC for this victory and all the participants. For my part I was very careful about this race, and I started the race with a full tank, I thought that if a car occupies my pit, I could finish the race. Obviously I lost several places early in the race, and the tires were worn very quickly with as much fuel. I still took the chance to stop to change the tires and fortunately no car was there. I was able to do my last stint with a good pace, a normal race pace, and I caught Fergy but I was not fast enough to overtake him, he was very fast. Finally a good result and I am very happy with the turn of events, we will see in two weeks Gentlemens. Thank you to the admins! RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 14 Canada Mosport REPORTS - ricikrick - 06-05-2019 started 9th finished 9th 1 excursion maybe could have finished 7th still best race all season i.e i finshed congats to the podium RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 14 Canada Mosport REPORTS - Tygernoot - 06-05-2019 I had a reasonable qualifying, ending up in 6th. I was afraid for the start with such a tightly packed grid, but luckily all went well. The first few laps were horrible; I jumped some curbs, went wide onto the grass, etc. No idea what was going on, but I couldn't get the car to work properly. In the second corner I already lost the place again to Bryan that I had gained at the start. I was happy when Anttii and Dave Coyne overtook me after a mistake, as there was no more pressure and I could focus on keeping the car on track. I sort of gave up trying to fight as there was nothing I could do, until around lap 15 the car changed completely. All of a sudden I could point the car where I wanted to and it became a pleasure to drive again. Mistakes were made... On lap 19 I had an awesome moment where I slipstreamed Dave Coyne who was slipstreaming J-P. On the back straight I managed to overtake both cars! That was just an awesome moment. Very exciting racing. At that point I thought "I can happily hit a wall now". Aaaaand probably jinxed it. A few laps later, I was thinking about fuel and pitstops (or pitbabes?) and just lost focus for a second. Complete brainfart, and I can still slap myself on the head for it. Went almost full speed into the second corner and had a terrible crash, rolling the car multiple times. Sjeez, what an idiot I am. I still can't believe it. I parked the car on the side of the track to avoid hogging up space in the pits and waited till the end watching a few exciting battles on track. Congrats to DJ who was in a class of his own. Bryan also did insanely well, where is that speed coming from? Perhaps the 4AM wake-up actually helps? ![]() And happy to see Antti back in great shape, taking 2nd for our team. Looking forward to the next race at Watkins Glen, and this time I'm determined to make it to the finish. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 14 Canada Mosport REPORTS - Bruce - 06-05-2019 Usual for me. A bit off pace ( best lap was a 1:22 during race). Managed to keep on track except for once when Tried turn 8 without lifting and lost from wing. Pitted and got new one no problem. Think I managed to keep out of every ones way. Interesting seeing bits of cars littering the track and cars stopped off track. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 14 Canada Mosport REPORTS - deecee52 - 06-05-2019 The Macs were well outclassed here , no way could they live with the Brabhams pace and they could barely stay with the March , it was a case of having to drive on the edge to be competitive , this cost me dearly. Qually I had never got out of the 13s here so was not expecting much , managed to scrape 9th alongside Ron in another Mac . Race Got a good start but had to lift as someone went off in front of me , got into a nice rhythm and a few laps later found myself catching JP , started to push but ended up spinning at the hairpin , fortunately no damage , got going and that was the story of my race everytime I caught someone I ended up spinning out through overheating the rears , 4 more times I spun but each time I didnt hit anything , Cookie whom I tried to pass must have been laughing his socks off as I spun 3 times getting past him . Towards the end of the race I thought I had cocked up my fuel so I went into fuel save mode and this allowed Ron to catch me up but 2 laps to go I knew I was OK so upped my pace and scraped a lucky 6th place RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 14 Canada Mosport REPORTS - Antti Hyytiainen - 06-05-2019 Started behind teammate Ed in P8 and took a careful start, expecting a mayhem due to missing start lights. Luckily this turned out not to be true and from what I could see, the getaway was actually very neat. Trailed Ed for awhile and it was clear he was having big issues, going very wide a number of times in the first sector esses. Also thought the car handled a bit weird on the first couple of laps and understeered a lot. Perhaps the tires got cold while waiting on the grid? Anyhow, managed to overtake him on lap 3 and set sights on JP. At the same time also tried to run away from Dave, who seemed to follow without much difficulty despite my best efforts at that point. Caught up JP a few laps later, but it took a slightly compromised corner exit from him on lap 10 before I could get a tow and overtake. Then a couple laps later Daniel appeared in front out of nowhere, apparently having just recovered from an off-track excursion. I trailed and tried to go by, but despite getting a good tow on the back straight a couple of times, he was just way too fast on the straightaways. So I trailed and trailed. On lap 25 his tires seemed to let go a bit and I got alongside into T1, but didn't have the momentum to finish the overtake into T2. Daniel dived into pits on that same lap and Bryan had done so two laps earlier, so I had a clear track and fuel for another 5 laps. Judging by the lap times I wasn't making much of a gain - if any, but surprisingly found myself in P2 after the stop. Beers for the mechanics! The gap to David was huge - over 20 seconds - but wanted to see if I could shrink it a bit. This went fine for a few laps, but then the bumps at the hairpin got the better of me, had a spin and just managed to stay ahead of Daniel. Figured now would be a good idea to settle for some good points, so brought it home safe and sound after that. ----- Pleased with the result, but even more pleased to discover this gem of a track! I mean the name is familiar, I've seen some GT races held on it, but having never driven the track in a sim it never really clicked me what an awesome old-school racetrack Mosport is. Lots of blind fast entries, uphills, downhills, fast bits, slow bits, it's all there. I hope they fix the start lights and we get to visit this one again.

I'll be honest with you, I saw you at the last moment, you took me completely by surprise and I did not know you were there I was focusing on Dave. It could have gone very wrong but finally a very nice racing moment, congratulation. |
