RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 16 Japan Fuji REPORTS - Ricknau - 02-06-2019 A better race for me than what I've done lately. PB in qualy got me P10 on the grid which is more typical than what I've done in the last few races.. Ended with P10 but had lots of fun clean racing with several drivers (Cookie, Tobias, Shannon, Bendix, and others) along the way. Made a few passes for position and apparently gave back the same amount! Most of the positions I gave back occur when my tires have gone to sh*t. After about 10 laps I cannot even drive in a straight line. It's like my steering linkage has come loose. Great season! Thanks as always to the admins and to all you fellow drivers. Can't wait to see what is in store for next season. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 16 Japan Fuji REPORTS - myself9 - 03-06-2019 Thanks to the admins and drivers for one of the best-run seasons in recent memory! Crap day for me was a fitting finish to my horrible season. Fortunately I had an awesome teammate, so it could have been worse. Looking forward to deleting this car from my hard drive, and seeing what's in store for next season. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 16 Japan Fuji REPORTS - Daniel Tani - 03-06-2019 Many Thanks to the Admins and Drivers and especially my TeamMate ( for his great race-craft, setup help and emotional support and AMAZING car skins ) for one heckuva fun, nerve-wracking and on my part mistake laden season, 2 DQ's...ai-yai-yai, not to mention my other transgressions which shall remain on the DL. Speaking of which...My Apologies to Antti and JP. I jumped the start, lost my head and too late braked into the first turn locking up and sliding through to hit Antti who in turn, due to my error, forcing a collision with JP while he was already proceeding on his turn into 1. Apologies to both for my idiocy. I hope it didn't compromise either of your cars or your races. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 16 Japan Fuji REPORTS - Fergy - 03-06-2019 Couldn't make this one due to a brief bout of food poisoning. Disappointing not to race. Well done to JP on a stellar season showing amazing constancy. Big thank you from admin for all members who competed. We averaged around 20 per race on grid which we all can be proud of. More official report to come. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 16 Japan Fuji REPORTS - Dan Bayford - 03-06-2019 Great season massive thanks to all who made it possible. Your work is very much appreciated Thanks to all the racers I had some great battles with you And a big congratulations to JP Amazing pace and consistency Well deserved season Champion RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 16 Japan Fuji REPORTS - deecee52 - 03-06-2019 Got a good start but screwed my braking for turn 1 and had to go wide to avoid contact , had a good battle with Rick whilst trying to move back up then got into clean air but I had taken too much out of the tyres to lap quickly , I could see Edward catching me but there was nothing I could do I survived and finished the race in 5th , for me that is an achievement in this last half of the season . Thank Heavens I dont have to drive that car again I hated it . Well done all drivers especially JP , great driving . Bryan/Gorka big thanks to you for a great season RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 16 Japan Fuji REPORTS - Tygernoot - 03-06-2019 Final race. I was determined to put in a good drive after disastrous results at Monza and Canada. I never really managed the third sector with my tank of a March, but in qualifying a good lap came out of nowhere, which put me 3rd on the grid. My start was good enough to pull ahead and take first place into T1. Unfortunately my lead was short lived when Hedlund overshot the braking into the chicane, bumped me from behind and flipped me around. He kindly waited on the side of the road while I recovered, but unfortunately I was in 12th position. I quickly started taking back positions by force. Ashamed to say literally in some cases... At the end of the straight Ricky Keene braked around the 200m mark, which I wasn't expecting at all. I tried to take evasive action, but being on the brakes already I couldn't swerve enough and I pushed him off. This is not the way I want to overtake ![]() My next victim was Dan Bayford, who made a small mistake going into T2 on the fourth lap. I almost rear-ended him on the exit, and with Daniel Tani right behind, I didn't dare to hit the brakes. Instead I took the runoff area and rejoined the track thinking Dan had seen me there. Looking at the replay, I fear Dan had no clue what hit him... I sent Dan in the direction of the wall, but luckily he didn't hit it and could continue on his way. And luckily this was also the end of my carnage. I stepped on it, and was able to overtake a lot of drivers on the main straight, as I was going for a lower wing setup than most. I found myself in 4th position before the pitstops, and gave it my all to catch up to the top 3. I was making up good ground, and was only half a straight behind near the end, but alas, I ran out of laps. Very exciting race with the early prospect of winning the race, and then making my way through the pack. Although I am very sorry for hitting both Ricky and Dan in the process... This was a great league, very well organised, with great - albeit very tricky - cars and great people to race with ![]() Looking forward to what's coming next. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 16 Japan Fuji REPORTS - Antti Hyytiainen - 03-06-2019 Started 4th and trailed the leading trio into T1 where Daniel came hot on the inside. Saw him from the mirrors, but there wasn't a great deal of room to manoeuvre and we had a slight bump with JP. The pit menu said there was some damage, but honestly never felt anything wrong with the car during the race. There was a bit of a situation in the downhill hairpin with Ed and Hedlund, which I was lucky enough to see from a distance and thus got through without any issues. Was running 2nd after David, with JP on my tail. Overshot T1 on lap 7 while staring at the score sheet to figure out how far back Ed dropped, and this allowed JP to get by. He seemed to have the legs on me and pulled a 2-3s lead in a few laps. Towards the end of the stint the gap began to close up and I was able to overtake him on the main straight just one lap before the pit stop. JP stopped on the same lap and we got out with remarkably similar stop times, so I had a small lead on him when we rejoined the track. Then another blunder from me some 3-4 laps later saw him take P2 once more! JP was again faster during the early part of the stint, so I tried to save the tires for an attack in the closing stages. This did work, but likely would not have been enough if he didn't have some trouble with back markers, causing a bit of a wobble in T4 and giving me a chance to grab the second place. ----- Congrats to David for the win and JP for the big crown, well deserved gents. Overall it's been a great (half) season, with many memorable moments and some truly enjoyable races. I do share the sentiments of the ones who are glad to get rid of these cars though. I don't know what the McLaren and the Brabham were like, but the March was an absolute pain to setup right. Actually might write a bit of a technical post-mortem on it, as the root cause is an interesting case study for those who haven't bumped into it before (this includes me). Not to say the cars aren't well made - quite the opposite in fact. It was the well-modeled 70's suspension that was giving me a headache, but more on that later. As for LRT, I'm glad we could finish this last one on a high, after a string of ups and downs. Bummed for Ed for that lap 1 incident though, but pleased to see he recovered so high up. Probably won't be doing a great deal of racing during the next couple of months as the temperatures start to climb (insert joke about Finnish summer), but I'll see you around. Really looking forward to the next season / series, this place is a real gem. Also big thanks to the admin team once more, for all the effort they put in for us to have a chance to race. Sadly only 15% of the server costs covered for 2019 so far, but perhaps we can move that bar a bit more towards completion in the near future. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 16 Japan Fuji REPORTS - J-P SImard - 04-06-2019 On my side I left 5th, I was away from the pace to fight for the victory and the tires were wearing out a lot, I was not very optimistic. The start was hot and I had a good contact on the right side but I could see it coming and widening the trajectory, it could have been worse. I had another contact with Tobias that I had not seen on my right, sorry friend. The car was damaged but she still had good handling.I was able to catch up a little with the Ed-Hedlun incident, and to my great surprise I was able to keep up Antti's pace and overtake him when he came out too wide at the first corner to dig a little gap. But by the 10th lap the tires got worn out and I lost a lot of rhythm and he was able to catch and overtake me. We got into the pits at the same time and when I came out I tried to put pressure on him as quickly as possible while my tires were cool and after an error on his part I could overtake him and make a little gap. I did not want to make the same mistake as at the first stint and pushed just enough to keep my tires fresh but unfortunately three laps from the finish I came across a car a lap behind who lost control in front of me, making me in turn lose control and 2nd place. Finally I am very happy to have had a good fight with Antti, one of the good battles I have had this season! Good job Antti. And naturally, congratulations to David for his victory and the drivers present. I would like to thank the admins of this league, probably the best I've been involved with on GpLegend, F12002, Iracing or Rfactor2 or whatever the game. You've managed to bring people from all over the world into harmony worthy of the greatest society, bravo. Finally I must say thank you for your kind words, I will not lie to you saying that this championship has been a lot of work. A lot of work on the car but also on my driving to compete with high level drivers like all of you. The McLaren was not always easy to drive or fast, and I was often lost in my setting or lacked rhythm, but the trick is to never give up and never let anything go. Thank you for all these beautiful memories. RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 16 Japan Fuji REPORTS - Daniel Tani - 04-06-2019 forgot the most important thing... CONGRATULATIONS AND BRAVO J-P Simard!!!! RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 16 Japan Fuji REPORTS - bendx - 04-06-2019 On this final race : it was decent, no pace but no mistake and a decent strategy (who said none ? XD). Quali 15, ending 8, not so bad in the end. Great season , thanks again to everyone made it ! . Congrats to JP and all racers ! It was not easy, lot of fast guys, lot of turns and tracks I didn't know or not well... but I have succeeded to complete all races since I join... So thanks again ! It's time to me too for a break, it's already pretty hot here and other stuffs... Anyway, BRAVO !

Last race I did was Austria and I think I was like 1,5 second from pole that time and I didn't understand how I could be that slow. Takes time to get up to speed in these cars and there's more time to gain than you think when you really know the car and push. This time I got pole! Actually I never managed to improve my personal best which was 1.31.6 because I never got turn 2 perfect (really difficult corner!). My main issue was that I couldn't do longer stints because my wheel started to rattle after 5 laps and after 15 laps it was undrivable. I knew this and in a desperate attempt to solve this I lowered the brake pressure about 10% just before the race. I guess that's one reason why I made the stupid mistake and crashed into Edward in the hairpin on lap one, but also because I had no experience of braking in the draft from 2 cars, and with heavy car. I'm really sorry about that I waited for him to get going again but didn't see when he re-joined, so I ended up last. From there I just tried to keep my tires from being flatspotted and got back up to 6th place I think.. but I still had to pit very early to get new tires. In my second stint I was even more careful but it didn't help, I gave up after a few laps as my wheel still started to rattle. Can't drive like that late in the night, it's way too noisy. Not a good race for me but I'm glad I still have the pace over one lap. Hope to join more races next season. I'm glad SR4L had so many participants this season! RE: 1976 F1 Season - Round 16 Japan Fuji REPORTS - Edvvc - 06-06-2019 A combination of factors led to me missing the end of the season, just as it was shaping up to be a real battle for 2nd place in the championship. My steering wheel failed at Watkins Glen and I wasn't in a position to find an alternative wheel, and for some reason now that I need to make a video to show Fanatec the problem it seems to work fine again... Thank you to everyone who drove this season, especially those that provided some great battles, notably Dave Coyne, DJC, Daniel Tani, Jose... and a special thanks to Gorka, Fergy and anyone else who did admin duties. It was an honor to race with you guys and we made it a thoroughly enjoyable few months. I loved getting to know the car better and getting a little more experience on how to set it up. The highlight has to be Nordschleife - immense fun and satisfaction at getting the win. |
