Darn it, a 60min very important pit-strategic race, and I'll be missing it.

Stratovarius is coming to town and I'll be watching them playing at race time.

Maybe the weatherfrog could take a look again after noting that Build 198 is out with weather effects.

RE: SR4L Fun Event Rnd 6 Malaysia - 1959nikos - 02-04-2013

Lately I read every word slowly at announcements, making it add up is the hardest part :-[

RE: SR4L Fun Event Rnd 6 Malaysia - Kalanur - 04-04-2013

Keeping the car on track for 60min will be fun.
It's already hard enough for me to do one clean lap, especially in sector 3.

RE: SR4L Fun Event Rnd 6 Malaysia - Fergy - 06-04-2013

We'll stick with the 60 minute format for tomorrow nights Fun Event. The F1's will have to stop 3 times just for tyres which will make it interesting.

Both hard and soft seem to have similar wear (around 10 laps at best) before the drop off quite fast. Hard compounds seem to be the go here for the F1's.

The F2 and Formula Renault I will test later.

RE: SR4L Fun Event Rnd 6 Malaysia - 1959nikos - 06-04-2013

Malaysia is a puzzling track for me, many bends (the slow ones) Im not sure yet how to properly enter.
I had very little practise, I was counting tonight I would spend some good time there, but guests are coming so..

One second thoughts if there are a lot of pitstops I just might make it to the end.

RE: SR4L Fun Event Rnd 6 Malaysia - Capeta - 06-04-2013

Big chances to see me there. Smile

RE: SR4L Fun Event Rnd 6 Malaysia - Fergy - 06-04-2013

Great Capeta Wink

I've now test the F2 and it seems to show no signs of tyre wear after 30 laps straight. It's not one I've driven much, is it always like that? Maybe Wim could answer.

You could drive the F2 to the end of the 60 minutes, strangely enough.

The Forumula Renault I will test tonight.

F2, still going strong after 30 laps.

RE: SR4L Fun Event Rnd 6 Malaysia - alpha-bravo - 06-04-2013

I've tryed the malaysia track for several times with the mr01 and it's impossible for me to keep the car on the track.
Maybe one reason ist that I really don't like this track a other reason is that this track is very difficult to drive (for me) because there are so many closing turns and corners.
So my conclusion is to start the race with the mr01 is pointless for me. I see there no chance for me to finish the race. Maybe I try the Formula Renault . Are there other F 3.5 drivers too ?

Im thinking of choosing the f2, it is much more easier than the Renault.

I'll go with the MR01.
I bet I can do more than 10 laps with thoses tires. Smile

I can Wink

It's true, you don't really notice the wear that much. But you see on the indicators, the tyres are gone and they really are.
The reason you don't notice, in my opinion, is due to the fact this car fits like a glove and after a few laps; it's like an old pair of shoes and you don't make many mistakes with it.
Fact is, that when you get into the pits and get some new rubber; you ARE faster.
Maybe it's because I've driven this car so much, but I do feel the dropoff, mostly as understeer but it's not much.
I DO advise the F2 drivers to get new rubber at least one time; it IS faster.

Good luck in Malaysia guys.

RE: SR4L Fun Event Rnd 6 Malaysia - Fergy - 06-04-2013

oops.. Capeta Tongue

I was wondering if those F2 tyres would ever drop off...

Off to test the Formula Renault now.

I've done some races with the Fomula Renault in Portugal and on this track the car was really good driveable with good ffb and downforce.
That's the reason why i'am play with the thought.
But in Malaysia I've not much expirience with the renault. I will try some laps tomorrow and compare it with the F2.
For the unbeliveable case of: Someone gives me a setup that made the mr01 in malaysia driveable for me I give my self a chance and...
So I've to sleep a night over this and then we will see if a setup has straying to me :Smile
I will ask you tommorow again. I think for the fun it's important that are enough driver in a class.

RE: SR4L Fun Event Rnd 6 Malaysia - Fergy - 06-04-2013

Formula Renault will need to stop just once for tyres, it could possibly go to the end depending on your speed but we will stick with making one stop minimum as the F1 will be making up to 4.

You right Niko, the F2 is easier to drive but only just, both great fun. Now get back to your guests Tongue
