Qualy

Went early and got a time in to net 5th so was happy with that .

Race 1

Got a good start no dramas into turn 1 and I was running in 5th , kept the fast boys in sight fortunately I was back a bit when they had their crash so I sailed through ok , came in for pitstop on lap 2 entered slow and didnt accelerate until clear of line but got a stop and go , i waited until lap 5 to serve my penalty as I was leading and trying to build a gap , called for a pitstop to get the box up but didn’t cancel it so went through another pit cycle which you cant cancel GRRRRR , left the pits slow again and got a drive through!!!!!! Was dq for unserved stop and go????? , When I crossed the line (my pit was after the line) Bummer

Race 2

The guy in front of me just did not move at all at the start , I hit him then Marcel and someone else hit me , end result my car was damaged , limped round lap and pitted for repairs ,70 secs later I was on my way , I then came out of la Carrier flat out and found Paul in the middle of the track going very slow , BIG crash ensued .

Race 3

Got a good start and ended up behind Tom we diced for 1st and 2nd until the end of the lap when I made a break, drove like crazy to open the gap as I was stopping on lap 2 , pulled into pits in 1st place to find someone in my pitbox who was damaged , I sat there for a minute or so and then just gave up and left in disgust, this pit bug needs sorting .

This was a terrible event for me , I didn’t enjoy it at all , the bugs in this track destroyed my race , Spa is definitely now not a track I like .

RE: SR4L Fun Race League Rnd 11 Belgium Race Reports - DJCruicky - 16-06-2013

I kind of knew I would be watching most of this event from the pits. Only managed to finish just the 1 race, both other races ending early.
I agree with DC, still far too many bugs. The 1 pit I managed to do in race 2 there was no red pit arrow, so I had to press pit request button again, that increased pitstop time loosing me 2 places.

Please, bonus points for me for best crash of the season in race 1?
Weldone to the winners.
DJC

I found back my beloved GPL ! Difficult historic track, crashes, zig zag between the cars and debris, and get a podium because you managed to survive ;D Now we only need more of those tracks and do a championship only on these Big Grin

1st race I finished 2nd, but lost too much time at the beginning and missed the opportunity to fight for the win.
2nd race I got an early lead, but I've been caught by the faster guys and couldn't do anything to keep the lead.
3rd race had its usual mayhem at the start, I had to park the car while the smoke was disappearing. One lap later I damaged my car in Eau Rouge, but in the end I could save a podium.

Congrats to the winners 8)

Sorry to hear DC, you were damn fast around here Sad
Paul will be fresh install all servers this week.

+10 DJ, great crash.

Race report to come :o

RE: SR4L Fun Race League Rnd 11 Belgium Race Reports - vittorio - 16-06-2013

I couldn't practice much for Spa cause on Friday and Saturday I had rfactor2 racing sessions with some urban racing friends.
But after driving Spa again I didn't felt uncomfortable at all, somehow I still knew how to drive all the corners from the last F3 season.

Race 1: Got some damage on the start. Going way too fast with my damaged car so I lost one tyre Smile Tried to get to the pit but I felt being a obstacle and quit. (Seeing now that so less drivers made it I should have tried harder to get to the pits)

Race 2: Everything was ok. In lap 3 when trying to pit I was too fast and crossed the red pit line maybe 1-2 meters. My pit marker didn't show up! Drove through pitlane, noticed I probably don't have enough fuel for another lap and crashed.
Crossing the red line was against the rules (probably/maybe thats why the pit marker wasn't there) so I would have had to stop anyway (or getting DQed)

Race 3: Reverse grid and me in 5th position. Start was good, in the mirrors I've seen big white clouds from the crash at Eau Rouge. Luckily I didn't get involved. All six laps I was feeling great and I loved my Spark F2!
I had a nice fight with JP Campmajo for 3rd place but lost (now knowing he had a damaged car, argh...). Finished 4th, what a great race!

Big thanks to Paul & Fergy and whoever else worked on solving the major bug and allowing us to do the Spa event.

RE: SR4L Fun Race League Rnd 11 Belgium Race Reports - gorgias1976 - 17-06-2013

Qualy
-------
Very difficult to do a clean lap, it was bails and white poles everywhere the whole session. Managed a 43.7 which put me second even being a second slower than my best in the first sector. Anyway it was the same for everyone and I was relieved to be in the first raw.

Race1
-------
Not the best of starts (uncomfortable holding brake and throtle at the same time) but going safe through the first curves. Bart started strong but he pulled away a little leaving the classic threesome in the front. I tried to take it easy these first laps until we could build a gap to the others. Just kept avoiding risks behind DjC and Marcel's slipstream until when approaching the end of the second lap a bad coincidence took place. Nikos was recovering from and accident in a trafficless area and returning to track when we three appeared at very high speeds. Marcel and DjC took the worst and crashed into Nikos. I was lucky to enter the smoke cloud and leave unhurt. That brought me to the lead at what seemed to be a comfortable race on my own.
At the end of lap 3 I went for my scheduled pitstop. I entered the pits slowly enough, took 49 sec to change tires and refuel, and did not go over 100km/h untill way far from the orange line, but unexpectedly I got a speed penalty.
That was really annoying.
I saw DC was 5 seconds behind. I suppossed he had already done his pitstop (as he had) so I thought I really had to push to increase that gap if I wanted to have a chance after my future drive through the pits. Pushing harder and being a little disconcentrated after that speed penalty caused me to lose control and crash, losing a rear wheel and therefore retiring. >Sad

Race 2
--------
Starting at third row I did a clean start and I was able to overtake a couple of guys who did start quite slowly. I was behind George after Eau Reouge. Being close to him I was expecting he could do an early braking but I didn't expect such an early one, I think we hadn't even pass the 200m marker (I don't have the replay after my CTD so I can't confirm it). Tried to avoid him through the left but my right front wheel touched his left rear and I ended in several spins through the grass.
Luckily I survived that and returned to the track in a surprissing thrid place behind Jesus and JP. Car was a little damaged but was still stable and driveable at high speeds so I decided to switch "Do not repair" to avoid extra time at the pits.
At lap 2 I catched Jesus who went a little wide at one of the final curves and overtook him there. At Lap 3 I reached JP and overtook him using his slipstream. We then both entered the pits together. My pitstop took 48 seconds and we both left the pits really carefully starting to accelerate really late. No penalties this time and time to push to make a gap to JP and end up winning at least one of the 3 races here.
Had a CTD when race ended.

Race 3
--------
Starting at the penultimate row, I went to the right side to avoid trouble. Keeping other cars' position in mind I went through T1 when I realised J Cook was there and crashed into him getting severe damage. After later watching the replay I saw John was recovering from a crash with DjC and that explained why I was unaware of him being there. Car was hardly driveable, trying to return to pits battling with the wheel at a medium speed. I saw a lot of cars at the sides so I guessed many were crashing too.
As I knew my pitstop was going to take really long I decided to set no refueling. That's when I realised I was in default setup and already driving a car full of fuel (After my previus CTD I had forgotten to reload my setup).
Car wandering constantly I lost control of it close to the end of the lap having my right front wheel being ripped into a fence. As I was close to the pits I managed to get there safely and do my pitstop which took 304 seconds. Even had to shut off my engine to prevent overheating.
After that, I went back on track and had to deal with a default setup car. Car was understeery, locking front wheels constantly and behaving uneasy at fast bumpy curves. Timing 3:53s was the best I could get in this setup, just making it to the end in 7th place.

It really feels great winning here, such a challenging beatifull track.

RE: SR4L Fun Race League Rnd 11 Belgium Race Reports - baddie100 - 17-06-2013

Qualifying:

Did a 3.45.3 which was a compromised lap. In the last sector I had one person in front of me, was far away in the beginning of the last sector and at La Source hairpin he ran a bit wide and I had to commit to the lap, because at Spa you don’t get that many flying laps, he still tried to continue on his lap and I still tried to leave him space but still trying to get as much speed out of the corner, but we still touched and it think it cost me about 0,2-0,6sec. Could have made the difference between 6th and 5th place for me, but now I could start at the outside of the track.

Race 1:

EXTREME LUCK I had in this race. Had a poor start but didn’t lose any places. I only lost some time to the front runners, but got back to the group in sector 3. Then I was cautiously stuck behind David Coyne waiting for a good opportunity. At the final big straight I had enough speed to overtake David, but at the same time there was that HUGE accident and I was extremely lucky to not hit any cars. I only hit a barrier which damaged my left front suspension a bit.

Stayed out to see what the damage was like, it was tricky but not too dangerous. David pitted the lap before me. I came in for my pitstop at lap 3. Did not repair the damage, just did my tires and came out 7 secs behind David. I couldn’t keep up with his pace, because of my broken suspension. Had a gap of 5 seconds to the guy behind me, which was closing at 1 second a lap. David had a penalty which gave me the lead of the race and only just managed to keep it before the flag.

I was so happy that I won my “home” race Big Grin.

Race 2:

Very unlucky this time! I got an awful start! I lost 4 places before Eau Rouge even though I started in pole. Two cars touched at Les Combes and with all the smoke I hit one of the cars at pretty low speed and because of some rFactor physics it made my car flip wild over the barriers into the trees and when I tried to get back onto the track I got DQ for driving in the wrong direction.

Race 3:

I started on pole again thanks to the reverse grid. I had a good start, was able to hold the lead. David Coyne was already behind me again. Big respect to him, I had really good clean fights with him, I could trust him that he wouldn’t turn into me and leave me the space. I really enjoyed racing against him. Even though it got close some times Big Grin.

He passed me before the end of lap 1 and I made a small mistake at Eau Rouge and lost 2 seconds to him. Marcel was now 1.2 seconds behind me. I had a brilliant sector 2 and sector 3 and at the end of lap 2 I closed the gap to less than a second! Marcel was still breathing in my neck with 1 second behind me. David pitted at lap 2, which I found a really strange decision. Marcel passed me before the Masta Kink, but I was trying to do the same thing to him the next straight and tried to get as much speed as possible out of the Masta Kink. But I hit the UNDISTRUCTABLE fence with 1cm of tire and completely destroyed my car. Really a shame because I was fighting for a podium finish.

Overall great racing, even though I only managed to complete 1 race. So thanks to SR4L and everyone for a great night racing.

Kind regards,
Thomas Vandenberghe

First of all I want to apologise with Niko, I behaved a bit nervously after our crash. Sorry mate but the situation was very adrenalinic.. Smile

I decided to start from the back so didn't pushed so much at qualy.

Race 1: A safe start permise me to avoid more then one incident at first corners, after the Redillon I was 10th behind Niko, a good positon. Unfortunately there was an incident in front of us, after the quick up/down schicane, and me and Niko spun out.
I didn't managed to arrive at the pits, my engine died at the entering of La Source.

Race 2: An othe safe (or simply lucky) start, a pair of little touches but nothing dangerous. I did an easy race, not pushing at all and avoiding any battle. At the box everything went ok and I enjoeyd a lot spa.

Race 3: Worst position to start here, in the middle of the grid, some how I came out alive after the Eau Rouge. I gave some positonis at the fast drivers who came from the back at Redillon and was going for a safe (because of cod tyres) Les Combes. Unfortunately I was bumped from Bartolomew at the exit of the corner. Then I lost my concentration.
I managed to arrive at pits to repair my car (+100secs) but quite disapointed.
I made other mistakes, destroyed my car and didn't finish the race. Sad

There is a good news: now the skins are viewed on replays. Smile

Yes, I was very upset I did such a huge mistake and messed leaders race, last time I try to reach pits in such a bad state, I should have retired.
I was so upset I missed second race, I spend it trying to calm down.
I came back to third race only to have an accident again who took out Gorka, we both managed to get to pits safely, I was in a 271sec pitstop when I saw Coyne sitting just after me and not having a pitstop.
As I didnt ever had to share a cockpit, I was really puzzled why he didnt rejoin race, bad luck David Sad

Disastrous race for me, I thought I was well prepared to finish Spa safely, looks like you need lots of luck to finish here, I think its the toughest race of all, it even beats Nurbs, blame the bales and fences for that imho.

Don't worry about that crash in race 3. I was already in so much damage that no more was added to the car.

RE: SR4L Fun Race League Rnd 11 Belgium Race Reports - Fergy - 17-06-2013

My races were a battle of survival, no chance to get into any form of racing at any point.

Race 1 after Mel and I hooked up I then crashed trying to drive with damage which took me almost 10 minutes to carefully get the car back to the pits. I sat there for 291 seconds while my team worked franticly to repair the car. I finished last in 6th place, unbelievable that 14 cars dnf. I certainly will be looking at replays to find out what's going on.

Race 2 was a repeat of race one, mayhem at the start. Involved in an incident at T1 I then proceeded to put damage the car all by self and spend another 304 seconds in the pit. Seemed the safest place to be Tongue This time i didn't need ten minutes to get the car there. With another 8 dnf's I was lucky to finish 10th.

Race 3 reverse grid order I actually made a good start and found myself 6th or 7th off memory behind jpalesi. I let the fast Bart through and was concentrating on keep up with jp before someone had lost control in the last sector and crashed. I need to make two quick decisions, first dodge a tyre, just made it.. second dodge his car but unfortunately I had no chance and ploughed into a wheel less cockpit of some one. Surprising the damaged car was still drivable and I chose not to repair it and finished the race lapping in the 4 minute 40's in 6th place.

My only positive for the night was I brought the car home 3 times. Race 1 I was dripping in sweat trying to steer the damn thing, quite funny and worth a look ;D

For me the game ran perfectly, no lag. We had an extraordinary 31 dnf's for the night and are certainly better than that in my opinion. Granted it's a hard track we need to be more aware of,
*who's left and right of us at the start and T1.
*braking distance at T1 and the concertina effect it causes.
*re-entering the track when it all goes wrong.
*and most importantly knowing when to yield or take the corner.

Keeping this in mind it's only going to make SR4L an even better place to race than it already is. Wink

Cheers,
Fergy

Race Director
