Congrats Big Grin

I'm glad I could make it to at least one race!

I was just thinking, have you guys ever considered running the fun races same time but on Fridays or Saturdays instead? Not all races but maybe some of them. Would suit me better, but maybe it's just me Big Grin

Indeed very good fun, many thanks to the admins as well as all competitors. Also congrats to Ed for the overall win, well done.

We had a chat with (teammate) Ed about last night's race and were pondering about some sort of a buildup for the next Nords event. Perhaps before the main race there could be a shorter race with slower cars next time around? Or even a fun race or two? Just to give people a chance to get properly familiar with the circuit, before getting down to the business of dealing with some historic monster (like the 917 for example is) on track.

Nevertheless, great turnout last night. Had a lot of fun battling it out with Dave, Andi and J-P. Very much looking forward for the main league to kick off. :]

Felt great to be back in the driver's seat with a large grid!

I applied a few things I've learned about car setup in the last few months and was able to make the car SOMEWHAT manageable. I practiced a ton. I knew I wouldn't be able to keep up with Ed or DC, but thought I might have a shot at a podium if luck was on my side.

On race day I started practice WAY too late. I didn't have a chance to properly estimate fuel for the race or do enough laps to get in my groove. To top it all off, my Crew Chief app was acting up and I couldn't resolve the issue before race time. Not off to a good start. This resulted in a poor performance during qualifying and I had to start the race behind a couple of drivers who weren't quite as fast as me on this course.

The race start was great and I didn't see any turn 1 shenanigans. Whew. I spent about half a lap behind slower drivers and didn't want to risk any daring moves to get by. Four or so of us were bunched up and someone in front of the group lost it, causing a little pileup. I got lucky and snuck past on the outside of the chaos, but with damage to the front of my car. That put me in 4th, but the damage was causing my car to slightly pull to the right. Decided I could live with it.

Anti and DC were about 14 seconds ahead battling it out for 2nd place. JP and Santiago were a few seconds behind and didn't look they were gaining on me.
All I could do is hope that DC and Anti would take each other out during their battle. Nothing personal Smile

Laps went by and the cars in front were increasing their lead on me and the cars behind were becoming more distant. Seemed that the right thing to do was to take it easy and just bring it home.

I looked down at about lap 6 or so and saw that I was in 3rd. What?! Anti pitted. My prayers had been answered.
But...it seemed that I didn't calculate my fuel correctly and might end up having to pit. I decided to short shift and not push hard at all. A very stressful last lap and a half. Crossed the finish line with about 1/4 gallon to spare.

Big job well done to Ed and DC for their solid drives, and to all who participated for keeping it clean and competitive.

I only wish that I could've watched Anti's final lap. Coming from behind and catching JP and gaining a spot at the finish line? Epic stuff.
When in doubt, pass out.

In reality Ramon lost control in front of me and I managed to avoid him just like Andi but unfortunately you arrived too fast and could not avoid and hit me from behind. I found myself in the opposite direction and Andi hit me while you passed without problem. Then my car was completely demolished and I did my best to finish. I must admit that I had a twinge in my heart when I saw Anti stopped in the last laps, which would probably have allowed me to finish 3rd and win the mini-championship. But It was not your fault you could not avoid us, you drove very well. I must also recognize that the finish with Anti was a very nice race moment, even if it's me who lost.

But it does not matter is the race and its chance. This is the pleasure and the beauty of this sport and I do not regret anything.

Thanks again to the admins

Apologies for that. My teamie Dan viewed the replay and told me I tagged someone pretty hard getting through that chaos. My normal reaction in that situation is to completely stop if needed. Not an option at 150mph with only a few yards to react Smile
When in doubt, pass out.

You could not see the action in front of us as well, we must say.

You could not do more, I think.

This was a bit of a disaster for me. I kept out of trouble in the first corners, and then managed to avoid the accident in the first lap. I followed the pack at a safe pace, but got distracted for a split second when I saw a car come flying at me from behind. That was John Cook who was involved in that earlier accident making his way back at much greater pace, and I didn't expect to see a car on my tail.

I looked at my mirrors and the dashboard to see who was driving that car, which is just the stupidest thing to do at this track. I didn't catch a bit of oversteer coming out of the corner, was on the wrong side of the track for the next corner and spun off. What a rookie mistake Sad

I continued the second lap with some damage, but that wasn't a smart move and crashed more heavily. Went in for repairs (120s) and managed 4 laps before the next crash. It's kind of boring racing alone with no one in sight, so I didn't keep up the necessary concentration levels for such a track and car lol. Another 120s later, I went out for a final lap. Good thing I was lapped by the leaders, as I would have run out of fuel due to my car consuming a lot fuel sitting idle in the pits. The thought of shutting down the engine didn't cross my mind either...

Kind of ashamed of my performance here. Have to say driving these 917's on one of the most insane tracks in the world was a major challenge Smile. I will do a lot more practice for the upcoming league to be in better shape and have a proper feeling with the cars.

Well done to all finishers! And Antti's finish with JP was just awesome. Not even half a car length between them crossing the line Smile

I noticed something weird at the end of the race. When I exited to the monitor, there's this default 20s delay in the footage. In my case, it was going 21... 22.... 23.... 24... the replay wasn't keeping up in real-time, it was going slower. Then when checking the stored replay itself, around the fifth lap, the replay starts going slower and slower, up to a point where fast forwarding is still slower than real-time! Antti noticed the same thing with the replay. Very very odd. Did anyone else have this same issue?

To fix the replay issue in single player or multiplayer modes in settings, Replay, Replay Fidelity, set this to Minimum. Hopefully the next RF2 update will fix it.

I just came home in time for this one after 24 hours of flights & travel. I felt ok enough to start but got so terribly tired throughout the race that I was glad to get lapped so i did not have to do another one. I was about to fall asleep at the wheel.
Do you even lift?
