Sim Racers 4 Life welcomes you to Season 7 of our Historic's League.
This season we pick up the younger brother of the classic Lola, the T290. With 4 different engines available it will be up to you to decide which one will fit you best in every track.
This third event will take place in Zandvoort and will be splitted in two 30 min races. Having the second race reversed grid for the top ten finishers of the first race.
Restless and very demanding track, Zandvoort will require your best skills and concentration. A good setup will also be critical to avoid wasting the left front tire in the long fast right handers.

I have had very few races actually. Everone is practicing alone most of the time. But from the few races I have done, I have to say YES, it is very difficult. With this car, it takes a while before you can take advantage of slipstreaming and the main straight is a bit too short so it's quite easy to defend position even if the drafting car is really close in final corner..

But it's still way better than Mid-Ohio. Turn 8 and 9 are really wide and you can take very different lines. You can lure your opponent to take a defensive line and get him in the exit instead, or vice versa, but probably you still need to get really close and force him to a little mistake.

I finally got some quality practice time in last night.

You THINK you know a course, then you drive it in the T290 :o
Learned a lot. Enough to reach my goal of a mid-pack finish, I think.

Passing is going to be very interesting.

Is it just me, or do the front tires get absolutely cooked after 2 laps?

Flatspotting is an issue at this track I think, a lot fast downhill does that.

I try not to brake much, I hope Ill use Swire as a pillow lol.

I finally took some online practice yesterday. As I expected rubber line in turn 9 (lefthander) is the same as I do, around middle of the lane. In theory I thought approaching a wider line should mean for a faster exit but everytime I tried it I always ended up missing the apex.

Turn 6, 12 and 13 are a left front tire killers. Drivers who tend to drive understeery cars will have a lot of suffering today.

Yes, I found out this last night racing you Gorka.
I was super fast first 2 laps and pulled away from you but after 3 laps my times did a nose dive and you were on my rear very quick.
Think you should be in good shape for the big race with you seeming to know how to make your tyres last longer.

I always setup my car so that I have somewhat equal wear on front and rear tires. I think this is the only way to be quick the whole stint. Often I have 1 or 2% more wear on the rear tires, that's just how I prefer it. Because if the front tires gets worn first, they will just get worse really quick - while you can still turn the car in if the rear tires are more worn (or equally worn) and then just be a bit more careful with the throttle. You can at least do something about it, which is not the case if you have all your grip in the front end.

If your front tires are cooked after 2 laps you are in real trouble and need to work on your setup. My tires are barely in race temp after 2 laps.

I'm more of the type as Rikard. I like to have a more neutral car looking for an even wear (though in this track the left front will always get the worst of it).
I've been able to improve by focusing on my setup, working on the suspensions; springs, shockers and anti roll bars. In the setup I used for the first two races I was only able to lap 44s in this track. Just by working on them I've been able to lap 42s. It looks as I was using way too stiff springs and shockers. Softening them has bring a lot of improvement in grip.
