Well, these cars are not as sturdy as the Lolas, if you get damage they get undrivable and you have to spend a lot of time in the pits repairing.
I was thinking about that before race and I decided to try stay out of trouble as much as possible. Of course I was lucky not to get involved at the pileups at the start of the races, but lately I think its not just luck, if you want to stay alive just stay away from trouble. I was rewarded by a 12th and an 11th place, I count as positive this introduction to this season which I think hides bad surprises at every lap. Great turnout, welcome again new guys, Kristijan, Christian (or is the first name Brandon?), David, Mauro and Billy, we hope you enjoyed race as much as we do

Race 1, in first lap i avoid many cars
on lap 2 when i was P9 i had disco ![]() Race 2 very regular I decide to pit in the closing laps, so i remount to first place. but before pit I go long in penultimate corner and lose 30 seconds. in the closing laps i recover 10' position. nice night (shame for disco in race 1)

Always exciting with the first race of the season
![]() I was thinking that choosing the Spark would make me an underdog, because for me it has always been 1 second slower than the EVE (even at Spa), but it seems my worst rivals also have chosen slower cars But during my online practice sessions this week I found out that the new guy Kristijan was really competive, also in the Spark. But in the quali today my setup worked really good on the heavy rubbered track and gave me pole with a whole second. It was a good start of the season for my team, with me winning both races and Edwin struggling in the quali but finishing 6th and 7th! My first race was not very eventful. I saw DJ sneaking into second spot and while he was busy keeping Kristijan behind, my lead grew bigger and bigger. Pitstop went fine but maybe a bit slow - 50 sec. My pitstops are usually slow in the start of a season, maybe it's my mechanics, or maybe it's me - I don't know. Second race was more eventful (like it usually is). I took it really easy in the beginning, and followed Kristijan down to T1 where he had an accident with another car and went off the track. A few other cars were also involved in accidents so I was 5th or something already, after 2 corners. After the long straight I was almost scared to death when I saw Rick Nauman in a big cloud of smoke in my mirrors, braking late but managed to avoid me. Then I begun the hunt on DJ who was quick as always and tried to get away. After a few laps I managed to catch him and when he made a mistake in the final corner, I could overtake him on the straight. His winged Matra was surprisingly fast on the straights, thanks to that V12 I guess, so I was lucky he made a mistake in the corner exit. After that I could pull away and take a comfortable victory. My pitstop was 50 sec again, so I guess I have to practice them more next time. Thanks for hosting Paul. Thanks to all who showed up today, great to see some new faces too. Cu next time. I might have to work that day, but I will at least be practicing with you and hopefully I can make it to the first race. We will see.

Difficult to drive but lovely cars this F1. Feelings are very good.
Qualy: P12 in a quite pace. Race 1: I found in practices that starts with this monsters are not easy, however, in this race I was able to make a good one and hold my position, but when braking at turn 1, I was catched by surprise a so early braking from the guys ahead of me, I went wide into the turn, very close to the inner side, actually too close, touched grass and lost control making a mesh, sorry for that. My car car ended with a broken rear suspension and no way to drive to the pits. DNF on lap 1. Race 2: Starting from P18, easy task, just waiting for crashes in front of me to gain positions, somebody hit my rear but the damage was light enough to drive all the race without repairs. In P10 on second stint but lost it because a short out of track. P12 in the end.

I had great fun in my BT20, all that is finishing ahead of a single faster car is a victory (fool's consolation)
Qualy ------ Joining with the sesion started and no practice in three days made me lose time getting used to the car. I got faster laptimes at both races but I was happy enough with my 2:13.3, good enough for 13th place. Race 1 ------- Many pile ups in the first lap. To avoid one of them I had to go through the gravel (gravel that has less grip than the grass in this track) and that costed me a lot of time, but many of cars ahead started crashing and that made me gain some nice position. 50 second pitstop cost me sixth place to Edwing, my crew must train harder when changing tires. Finally finished 7th which was very nice for the BT20. Race 2 ------- Starting on a green track the narrower tires of the BT20 suffered at the braking. Me and Brandom did a very good start in our BT20s in second and fourth place but he run wide at turn 1 and so did I braking for turn 2. We ended up rejoining the race in the final places. As a hiena I lived from other cars remainings. I gained some places but again had a slow pitstop, 51 seconds. I rejoined 10 seconds behind Edwin and Dan. As they were at the same time distance I guessed they were battling for positions so I tried to go as fast as posible in case they made a mistake. But it was me who did the mistake and lost a big bunch of seconds. That brought Mel in his F1 3 seconds behind. I really struggled for the next three final laps trying to get a gap higher than 1 second to avoid being passed at the straight. Finally the effort (and sweat) paid off and defended my position finishing in 8th place.

Had not much practice and the practice i did didn't go to my liking. I even sent my teammanager a message that next season he should buy us some proper cars
![]() Quali: Like Rikard said i was struggling to get a decent laptime in the end i did some spectacular set-up changes that turned out to give me a car more to my likings. finished i think it was 11th but with a pb which gave me confidence for the race. Race 1: Had a mweh start and got in the middle of the pile-up with Dan Minges and others giving me front right and left damage and left rear damage. The car was driving like a banana after that so i decided to go and pit immediately and see what happens from there. Well that turned out very well. Gorka said in his report that due to his slow pitstop he lost his 6th place to me. But in reality we had a great fight and i was faster.......well Sparky was faster then BT20 ![]() 6th a result i didn't hold possible at the start. Race 2: Way to much wheel spin at the start but got lucky in first few turns. After a while DJ was behind in i did my best to keep him behind as long as possible to give my teamie a chance to overtake him. But DJ as always was to fast and managed to squeeze thru and so did Dan Minges. Rest of the race Dan and i had a great battle and we even closed the gap to David (sorry David i forgot your family name....way to much Davids in here :o) At one point Dan ran wide in the carrousel like turn but i got to eager and spun my car leaving me ranting at myself and hoping runner 8th didn't catch me which he didn't. Happy with my result and great driving from all the contenders thanks all and see you next time in race or in practice.

6 years ago i unpluged my g25 and throw it on a black hole, some months ago a friend buyed AC and i did the same, bored of public AC servers searched for a proper league simulation, but i didnt want to come back to iRacing again, so i tested all the racing simulators out there and finally i had buy rFactor2, (AMS its the next one), i searched for some old school racing and i ended here.
With just a day to make the paintjob, and the tests of 5+ cars i had no time to test every car, i never tested this old cars, just the BT20 and just a few laps weeks ago, so looking into the engines and looking at the wings i picked up the eveF1B. Amazing machine, but this MATRA v12...oh god, it gives me terror when today i listened one... Qualy: After lot of tests to properly stay on track today, im crashed (my old body XD) so i did just a few laps, but after doing all the weekend tests at the online server without much ruber today i was able to run from 10th to 4th position, was not expected, i was expecting to fight hard to stay on 10th or so...but finally managed a "good lap" so far away from the pole, in another world. But enough to stay happy. 1ST race: With my lastest energys started 4th, i know i have to manage it until the last lap, fight can be very hard to mantain at 110%, and today was a hot day for me, so i tried to take it easy and lost the less posible places in the race, + i never have raced before in rF2 so i never did a serious pit stop, + i dont want to enable some kind of hud and i have no idea what speed my car is going, i realized about that in the practice session and did it by revs, so i was 10 kmph slowly in the pits, but mechanichs i think they used 48 secs 49, fast compared to the others time reported, i didnt know that part of pit stops, so in pits i think i lost 1 place, but was exiting race without some kind of hud and with some extrange mirrors , ( i think i need some help with mirrors). I think i finished 5th, absolutly unexpected position, enough for first race after that lot of time. 2ND race: After finish the first one, i was like WTF for real? another 13 laps? ok i can do it, i did like 200? laps in 2 days only with these cars on this track, what is 13 more? ok ok, and now the grid is inverted for the 10 first places? hmmm very nice, i love it but im destroyed, o well and there is no rubber now? hmmm, and Gorka has maked this joke about safety car, very nice feelings, lets do this...clutch engage 1st gear, rev the engine and lets go, grren, the matras sounds like hell, this is going fine, no one has crashed into me, maximun respect, after second turn i dont know how im second, following the Gorka's pace car, i hope he has 120more hp so he can stand next straigh and try to push serious to scape, but he have a BT20 and 100 hundred less hp, so im coming fast in 2nd turn, i dont know if i have pushed him but he go offtrack and now i have to lead, i didnt see if Gorkas car is ok, because i only have right mirror ok so i have to follow, i have no hud so i never knowed until the finish my position relative to the others...After few laps, im totally faded, and the first evils appears on my mirror, its time to be passed because i can not stand a fight now, they are more fast and if i have had more energy i can probably try to hold a little bit and get in fight but i cant so i let pass the cars one by one with no resistance, next race i will try to show up enterely, not body destroyed like today. Was a pleasure to race whit you all today, im havent been involved in incidents, so i can not wait for the next track, im going to download it now and just look into it. Beautifull sim, nice track, amazing cars, veeery nice people, what more can i say?

1st race went very well qualified in 15th I think and came in 9th place by the end of the race
2nd race went wide on turn one off track spun around and let everyone pass b4 I could rejoin the track then gained a few positions went to pit got the tires changed then got a drive thru penalty. not being use to cold tires went of 1st corner after exiting the pits, don't think I lost a position but I did loose time and took a little damage drove with it the rest of the race think I was in 13th and stayed there till the end of the race. great race guys I had a lot of fun just wish there was more races I wonder what do you guys do between races?
When in Doubt, Throttle Out!!!

wildman2132 Wrote:great race guys I had a lot of fun just wish there was more races I wonder what do you guys do between races? League races are every other weekend, so next one is 19th. In between league races, we have "fun races". So basically we race every weekend. The fun races are just for fun, with random cars but same track as we are going to race next time, for practice purpose. During the weekdays between races, the server are usually busy between 9-11pm with people practicing. Many of us do also race on the F3 fanatics server on Saturday nights. Some of us participate in other leagues too, of course

DavidMerino Wrote:mechanichs i think they used 48 secs 49, fast compared to the others time reported, Time for an ordinary pitstop depends wether you will ask for pit stop the right time, not too late as crew will be resting, not too early as the crew will get tired waiting and they sit. Also be carefull not to let them repair minor damage as you will loose too much time. DavidMerino Wrote:i think i need some help with mirrors Most of us use the virtual mirrors, very usefull, 3 of them, I think they come out by pressing F5 or 5 Im not sure. DavidMerino Wrote:i dont want to enable some kind of hud and i have no idea what speed my car is going I too hated the ready huds, I especially hated the rev and speed counter but luckily DJC made a mod that dissapeared the clocks so its all good for me as there is a digital writing of speed there. Ill post it to you when I go home at night, perhaps you will like it. ![]()

Normal pitstop (properly requested) should take between 46 and 51 seconds (random value). If you request it way too early (more than 150s before pitting) the pit crew relax and behave as if you had not requested it. In that case it should last 52 or more seconds.
About calculating the speed on the pitlane, the usual is during practice calculate the revs you're doing 100km/h and then on race day just check the revs and always remain below that value. If you keep the same 1st gear ratio for the whole season you no longer have to calculate it so that's a thing less to worry about. Me and brandom have the luck to have an speedometer in our BT20s, so we just have to worry not to go above 60mph. But the normal is to use the revs as the reference, no need for a HUD to show speed.

I think pitstop times depends a little on how you park your car in the red pitspot. If you stop a little too early or a little too late, the stop usually is 50-51 sec. Normally, I have 47-48 sec stops throughout the season. I remember the old days when Marcel, DJC and me were so even that the pitstops often could decide the winner

I'll try gathering some snapshots from carstat2, it showed a lot of information about it, same for all the 60s cars we're racing.

It was a very disappointing round for me after qualifying in 10th position. I was involved in the first turn pileup in race 1. took some significant damage there, so I decided to make my pitstop on lap 1- took the rest of the fuel i needed to finish and changed tires as well as fixing the damage. Came back out and promptly lost the car on the back stretch and put it into the wall - losing a wheel this time.Somehow made it back to the pits for a 300 second stop. Needless to say i was several laps down at that point but drove to the finish - 14th place. Race 2 I was rear ended on the first turn of the second lap - a long crawl back to the pits (the car actually drove worse than when the wheel came off in the other race..lol) drove the rest of the race without incident = finished 2 laps down 16th place. A very inauspicious debut in my first official SR4L race :'( Hopefully next time I can stay out of trouble and finish on the lead lap.
