Sim Racers 4 Life - Fun Event - Classic F3s at Belgium

I share your disappointment. At least you got down the road a bit, my race lasted about 10 seconds. After being pushed into the concrete haybales I resigned myself to limping all the way around with my badly damaged car, but I could not keep it straight. I spun into the armco and got stuck, so I just quit.

Problem is, Longford is about as bad, with similar haybales. Every race I've tried to run there begins with a massive crash under the first bridge. The only hope is that it happens behind you.

Spa and Longford are both much more fun to practice than to actually race.

I think the main problem is that people must take it with calm in the back at the start. We are not racing for money or glory, just for fun.

I quote these premises Marcel wrote some time ago and can be found at the links in the bottom of every race announcement:
Quote:Practice the Other Lines Before You Have to Use Them.
Very important when race starts, it's very common that you can find yourself trapped in the dirty line of the first corners.
Also a key when trying to overtake other cars.
Everybody should take the effort to practice a few laps driving all corners in different lines as if they had another car side by side.

Quote:You need to leave room simply if you have reason to believe someone might be beside you.
That's a key for race starts. It's better to lose a couple of places than ending in a crash.

Quote:Lifting to get out of trouble is very often a safe bet. You'll be surprised at how many 'certain crash' situations you can actually drive away from if you would only lift your foot off the accelerator.
That's something I always do if I'm not starting in the front row. Lift before the braking zone for safety and then brake when I see the cars ahead are breaking. That gives you a lof of safety for turn approach and still you almost don't increase at all the gap with the cars ahead.

Same happens to me, somebody else hit my left front tire at the start, even before Eau Rouge leaving my car undriveable.

Not much you can do when a random stranger tries to win at the first corner and knots up the field as a result. I'm starting to see the slightly less reckless joy of a formation lap though that's a big ask at Spa Smile Be even worse for Targa Florio, ha, ha, ha.

I have the intention of doing formation laps at the modern Porsche league, I hope it goes all fine.
