Crikey - this week was tough for me at Rouen - I was too exhausted after returning from travel to concentrate (actually nearly pulled out in front of two separate vehicles IRL on an emergency food shopping trip earlier that evening….
Anyway - this week (Wed 6th October) we’ll give the recently-updated S397 Zandvoort National layout a go. It’ll be a 7 lap race as the laps are quite short (c. 1 min 10 secs).
A quick test suggests it should be interesting - plenty of chances to out-brake people and the viable double-raceline options around Alonso‘s corner….
As an aside, I’m starting to think about retiring the Merc in the next couple of weeks and moving on to something different if anyone has suggestions for free-content mods….?

Japan super touring (celica, Datsun b110 etc) or 70s f1? I like the idea of trying a different 70s f1 car each week
Datsun b110 coupe (not saloon) is a hoot , very nimble and quite fast , for some reason the saloon handles terribly in comparison
Understeer - is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car
Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

Yes it the right car , you have to lift to change gear or clutch slips , traction is at a premium needs to be low , full camber/caster on all wheels , tyre pressures to suit your style
Either the track is green or its not giving much grip like most Studio tracks , at Oulton it was mega quick

Thanks. Yes - I set the server up to use the last saved realroad (starting from medium, usually) - so as no one else has been around, it will be pretty green.
Tried it again with more rubber - still not exactly getting it. Also tried (offline) the Skyline and Celica 2000GT - both of which I somewhat prefer (the Toyota is extremely fragile on the engine side though)…
Decisions, decisions!o_O
<edit> Decision made. We'll give the Mercs one final outing at Zandvoort as they seem (to me) to suit it a bit better. Plan is to try the Jap cars from next week (possibly at the likes of Oulton etc. where the rubbering-in might work better).
Ok - that was a brilliant night of racing at Zandvoort with the Mercs
Even though we had small grids (typically four cars), the car/track combo seemed really good and we had some really close, clean racing.
It’s time to move on from the Mercs (for now at least) so as I’m promised that the Datsun B110 Coupes are a great drive (:oops we’ll move on to them.
For continuity we’ll stick at Zandvoort National layout for October 13th.
Server is up. Anyone prepared to share a setup to help out those that have not raced the B110 before, feel free to zip one and attach it here (and I’ll add it to the Details post…)
I’ve no idea how you’ve posted your current time on a green (it’s not green - I start the server with a fair bit of rubber) track! Took me quite a bit of effort (and Dave C’s setup) and quite a bit more rubber to get within - what? four tenths???
I found quite a bit of time in the right-left flick towards the end of the lap. If you can shift the weight well you can get on the power early and it doesn't under steer. Similar story at turn 3 (Alonso corner).
The Alonso corner definitely can work - but it seems a bit random! It was a cracker in the Mercs though - I could bury it early and really buy some time…
