SR4L Fun Event Rnd 4 Essington Multi Class

Can I exchange mi Corvette for Wim's F2? I really love driving the F2 (I miss the F2 league we started last year :'( )
Actually I'll still be keeping the Corvette as in this non-league races what I really want is to be fighting in the mid pack (I like forgetting the pressure I give myself at the 60's F2 league).
It's sooooo frustrating when I qualify in front of some Lolas and then at the start 3 or 4 of them overtake me. But then it comes so fun and exciting fighting them back.
As Bryan says this non events are just for fun, and If a 5 lap race fighting Lolas is so amazing, a 30 minute race (about 19laps) can be awesome.

Wim, prepare different strategies for qualifying. For example, start with 5-6 laps fuel and just set times fast enough (not taking too many risks) so you already set yourself in front of the rest classes. Then you can go and try to find the pole. (At least that's what I like doing).

I can't find any of the SR4L servers, maybe they're down? Also, I'd like to give my opinion about splitting up the cars to different servers. This being a fun event, I don't think we should seperate them because otherwise it contradicts the whole meaning. The whole absurd phenomenon of different cars on the same track, competing to one and other is what makes this event fun. Better cars might have more trouble constantly taking over slower ones but it's also what makes it more challenging.

That's what I liked about the Lienz event; taking different racing lines and learning when to take over. During last event someone mentioned that slower cars should drive on the racing line to keep things organised with all the chaos of different cars. Rules like that might help the continuity of the race.

Maybe next time change the car diversity a bit to better match the specs of eachother?
Anyway, just my thoughts about this event. I'm looking forward to it and I am pleased to race here at SR4L!

They're up again.

I was on one of them earlier (not Number 1, incidentally), running at Essington-- it was going well. Several people showed up... but, at some point the server dumped.

During the same period, the SR4L sites were unavailable, too--- so it may have been something local, or something between where they are and the rest of us.

Anyway, Servers 1, 2, and 3 are up... One thing, though--- the announcement says it will be on Server 1; however right now, the Essington multiclass mod is running on 2 and 3, but not on 1. Anyway, I just want to be sure the "real, official" event is still going to be on Server 1.

I've been working very hard practicing for this event-- I'm really looking forward to it. See you there!

Gorgias, I tried but it's very, very hard, even with 6 cars on track. Yesterday, with about 18 cars it was undoable, encountering 2 to 4 cars each lap. Every car holding me up 1 to 2 seconds........tonight, with a filled up server (so we all hope) it is not going to work I am sure.

Yerke, you are right; the fun is in all different cars, but you misunderstood the "private session" I think; it means that just that half hour of qualifying, you are together in the same server, but don't see each other; the rest is invisible and you can go on lapping as you wish. Still can speak to the others and they are there still.
We practice together, we race together, but it's just that half hour of qualifying that it's all about. In my opinion, people should be able to do their best work there.

I think my plan for tonight is:
1st race Lola,
2nd race, Nissan

i think i may use a similar strategy, 2 races 2 cars - theres so much to love why not spread it around
1st race : lola
2nd race : hmm? vette maybe - nissan perhaps(nissan is damn hard to keep on the track for 30 minutes - its intense)

Wim i think you should drive the clio and get in everyone elses way in qulifying

Yes, two servers on the off chance we get more than 30 drivers. Unlikely but you never know.

This concept is great fun and worked well last night i found it a very enjoyable event , events like this give inexperienced guys like me a chance to develop my skills , someone in an earlier post said this situation is not real , the mix of cars may not be real but the mix of speed differentials is , Le Mans was run this way .

Couldn't agree more DC. Even the most experienced here will take something out of these events. All the non members complimented SR4L members after the race saying how impressed they were with how it all ran.

The concept is interesting, still needs development but is a great way of show casing what we're building here.

I second that. At Le Mans all classes share the same qualify session too I think..

I had a ball chasing DjC in the first race after his great start. So easy to run in to him while braking but it went well and I managed to pass him gently at the sweeping right hand corner after the backstraight.

Race 2 ~IsR~Jason pipped me at the start and again, a fun and fair battle for some laps until I passed him at the same point as where I passed DJ.

I want to make clear I do have expressed my feelings towards the F2 2012 itself as a car (modernhigdownforcechickenwingedcrapcar ) but that doesn't mean I dislike them running around at the same track in the same session at the same event. Those are the conditions layed out for that particular event and deal with that.

Next time we should need to add the 370z and Megane to the party. The Megane can bring some new comers as it's always been a popular easy to drive car.

Any ideas/suggestion of next track? A modern Spa would be great if we had it.
I'd like the old Spa, but it could end in carnage at start.

There is a modern Spa, released by IsR? (not sure) Fps at the last chicane are crap though (at least on my system)

Maybe Putnam or Poznan? Or just Lime Rock, same track as 60's F2 event as we used to do...

Long wide tracks to get the field well spaced out and with room to overtake like Brianza 10k and perhaps an oval like indy , i think that would be a hoot and possibly a close race for mixed classes

my view too regarding Monza, I wouldnt care to go around an oval bowl again and again though.

Lienz may be too narrow and short for this type of multiclass race

I guess the 370z must be quite slower than the Lolas considering the Corvette was faster at curves but at straights it just could do nothing against them.
