Thanks, put where you said but not see your replays, but found that i set to record hotlaps and watched my hotlap from quali and race.
Well, in replays, visually speaking, real road its even worse, but not all black as i see in race. Missing rubber parts on pavement (not to mention the exaggerated darkness of this real road thing even on straights which some times make me feel i´m driving with driving aids)
ps: my replay option is set to full details.
ps2: sry, think this is not the appropriated place to discuss this. I´m done here.

Thanks Paul, I just watched the replays, I knew I missed something.

I had practiced a lot for this race.
I'm glad my team is still up there after 2 rounds, but I can't help being disappointed.

Race 1.

Started 18th or so. I thought I had avoided the worst, but then in the carnage at T5 I just couldn't avoid Mallis, and Rodriguez bumped into me from behind. Happens. Race accident.
Car was slightly damaged, tried to understand if I could continue without pitting. I could, with a slower pace, so I did.

End of lap 4, last turn, Rodriguez comes into my right side. I think that was a bit too much, could have been avoided. Probably damaged the car further. At lap 11, just before pitting, I ended up on the grass at T1 hitting the fence and then proceeded to pits slowly. Had to stay there for 4 minutes, so I lost every hope of having a decent result.

After pitting, on Lap 13 I made two stupid mistakes, losing 10s or so, but didn't damage the car fortunately. However, on Lap 15 at T1 Dastardly decides he had enough of me and hits me hard. Couldn't drive it anymore, car badly damaged, had to pit again. I think this is one of the most useless avoidable accidents I was ever involved in, really. Didn't appreciate it at all. Race even more ruined if possible.

Race 2.

Starting 7th this time. Had a fairly good start. Bumped wheel to wheel with Rims(?) sorry about that, but his car continued fine as far as I could see. However, just after that, "E" bumps into my car violently and sends me off crossing the track and on to the left wall. Car damaged immediately. Damn! After pitting and waiting 60s for repairs, I managed to drive clean and gain positions.

Until I had to pit again, when entering the pits too fast I locked the wheels, and spun against the right wall, damaging my car. This was the stupidest mistake I made in both races, which costed me another 150s of damage repairs. After that again I managed to drive cleanly and bring a few points home.

My 60s F1 driving has improved a lot. I'm definitely not fast, but trying to improve my consistency. Could have done much better if I didn't have such an attractive car behind, and I didn't make that stupid mistake at pit entrance in R2.

I'm sorry for putting it like I did on you too Yerke, but its just how I felt. I will forget it now so lets move on, I just hope you learned a lesson for patients and this experience moves on with you to future races, you suffered too and so did about 6 cars behind you.
A race only really starts to unfold when the cars have had a chance to space out, then you can really find a pace and see whats worth challenging. Its important to be mindful of why someone starts infront and its about qualifying laptime, had you of gotten past me on that first lap cleanly I still would of past you eventually but in a safer manor.

Most drivers will make room for you if your faster and if they know your their but that was an erratic manoeuvre I had no idea you was there. I just hope you don't defend so aggressively as you try to overtake and that it was just another mistake in race 2 because in the replay I see no attempt by you to slow before hitting my rear wheel.

It might seam harsh posting stuff like this here infront of others but there is no better way to learn and others will be mindful of your actions in other races.
If I did the same to someone else I would expect the same for my mistake we are all big grown men here and its the best way to sort it out learn and move on.

I apologise if I make you feel bad.

Well race 1, lap 1, T1 was a lot better than Monza... but T5 kinda sucked! Gee whiz guys!

Race 2, I was thrilled to not be taken out on the first lap. Then I ended up nearing destroying the car on lap 11 while fumbling around trying to press the pit notify button. New wheel. Note to self... put labels on buttons. Pitted, but damaged the car again later and dropped out with 1 or 2 to go, probably 2 or 3 laps down.

Oh well, despite all that I enjoyed the afternoon.

P.S. I too think the rubber pattern was different than qualy.

Just wanted to add to my report that, despite the obvious disappointment, I had great fun, and I look forward to Blackwood and the rest of the season!

I saw that too (what David points). Some drivers not doing a legal entry, what means being in the inside of the pit entry lane since the very beginning and not waiting for a late right right turn and cross the white line.
Anyway, Edwin, that won't give you a pitlane speed penalty, the speed penalty is detected from the moment in your screen appears the "100km/h speed limit in garage" message. That happened as you crossed the first Marshall you could see on the left, way before reaching the pit boxes.

No problem, it was mainly myself that made me feel bad. We should all be able to give and take constructive criticism.
I'm an aggressive driver by nature and unfortunately you were the victim of my learning curve. Let's move on.

Thanks. Then i think my entry's are okay. :-)

Sorry about that Cosimo, I don't remember that. In the T5 carnage I was able to full stop before hitting anyone, then, when I thought it was safe to pass I tried to go thru a gap but someone else, that was at the side of the track, had the same idea at the same time and we touched, I got suspension damage too.

cosimo Wrote:End of lap 4, last turn, Rodriguez comes into my right side. I think that was a bit too much, could have been avoided. Probably damaged the car further

My apologies about that too, Cosimo, I am not very proud of that move either but...
I am very inexperienced in racing (I have watched a lot of grand-am, alms, dtm, f1, etc. races though ;D )
I would like someone more experienced to sed some light on this, please?
From my point of view, on the exit of the esses I had some more speed than Cosimo so I tried to overtake, I think we reached the Leeukop bend side by side. I was on the inside and able to keep the inside to complete the turn (this, again, from my point of view). We "touched" there.
Was this move acceptable? I would like to know.

I had a lot of fun and excitement on both races and I did things that I had never done before in any race. I was very lucky, I must say, because driving on the edge I had almost no error on second race.
The fight I had with George Mallis was epic for me Wink
I envy a lot, even more now, guys on front fighting and racing close all the time, must be exhilarating.

Thanks SR4L!

Don't worry Jesus, I appreciate your message though.
Anyway it's racing and I'm not very experienced as well, so let's move on, and do better next time!

Well,
I arrived at home around 10 min before start quali session, after a weekend with more than 900 km driving in one of most interesting mounting roads in Greece. Pelio is the name.
At the same time, i was very lucky because there has a hill climb race event, so i smell and i hear some lovely things Wink

When i sit in my chair, i try to find ...my mind, my setups, my wheel, but finaly when i saw all of you in grid i feel well and i start my effort Smile

At Quali I had gotten inside 1:19:225s (my PB) and started from 13th place, only 0:00:012s from Nikos(!!!) Smile.

Race 1:

I started well, i catch some cars before T1 but following closely Cookie into T1 i hit him a little bit from the back side without serious damages....
My apologies to Cookie for that incident, i am very sorry Cookie!!!!
Again the same things (than Brianza) when in T5 several cars had accident!!!!!!!
I can saw the yellow flag before T5, so i reduce my speed (near to 0km) and i try to find i safe way to pass all that damaged cars until somebody hits my from behind twice. Also i hit some other car and i had a damaged car again before the 1st lap.
I would like again to shout that this is unacceptable to happen, especially when there is enough time and early warning (yellow flag) in order to be able to react to avoid further problems.

I think that should be addressed by race marshals so sometime to impose penalties on drivers for similar incidents.

I manage to drive my damaged car without pit stop (traffic in pit lane) until 9th lap (if i remember well) when i had a stupid exit in the entry of T5 again.
The result was damaged right front suspension and managed to get to the pits with only 3 wheels. Where entering I found that my position on the pit box were are another driver .... I don't know if its a bug.
After I got over my embarrassment (someone is angry because I closed the entrance), I put the car aside and expect to finish the process the other driver and then finaly take my place in pit box.
After 311 :o seconds, I went back in the track, where I saw that I had inexplicably penalty stop & go (probably for speed limit????) and so the next round reentered again for the execution of the sentence.
Eventually finished in 16th place.

Race 2:

I had a very good and clean start without any problems (arrived to lead the race at least for 1 lap, of course when other drivers were in the pits ;D ;D ;D ;D).
I made my pit stop in 51s and when i coming back on the track, I had a clean and very nice fight with Jesus Rodriguez, who managed to overtake me few laps later.
Also that fight was epic for me, many thanks Jesus!!!!
Eventually finished in 7h place, totaly exhausted!!!!!!

Well done all in Kyalami and see you all at the next race!!
Also well done SR4L!!!

I think it was me who was there doing my pitstop. Yes, it is a bug, it happened at kyalami last year with the F2s and also at other tracks.

Yes, it's just a bad luck bug. I suffered it in the F2 league too losing good time.

here is my story... Smile

Doing some private testing manged to make a 1.18.900 so i was quite confident for the race but...big
disappointment since i only managed 1.21 in q and 1.20.4 (i think) in warmup...still cant understand why.

at race 1 made an awful start touching the wall with no damage but after T3 and a small off i was hit from behind
even i was careful being off the racing line...the rest was a disaster i want to forget...

at race 2 lost some speed at the exit of T2 but i was still able to reach T3 quite fast having Gorka behind me at the right.
DjC lost some speed having a small off and when reentered touched Gorka who touched me and i spinned and crashed with DjC Sad
(i don't know why Gorkas replay isn't so true. (a bug?)
i had a very heavy car completely meshed up my refueling strategy so it was very dificult for me to make times close to 1.22.
BTW Well done team-ate! Wink

In my life i have more than 70 races with in karting championship (open wheelers) and clio type cars championships.
I have started at the front row and at back and in between.I have to say one thing.
Especially in open wheelers the race starts at lap 2!
In lap 1 just defend clearly and wait.It is impossible to race in the same time with more than 3 opponents.
having an attacking attitude at the start, one out of ten you may gain some places most of the time you have problems...
Any way is a little bit controversial being the slowest at the grid to give advises... :-[
I was hit from behind 4 times in 5 races...so no fun for me Sad

Even so cant wait for race 3... 8)
