SR4L F1 League Race Reports Rnd 9 Croft

As I'll have less than normal practice time this two weeks (Dream Theater touring Spain and we'll attend all 3 concerts and doing some turism too 8) ), Any idea about rear-wingless F1C being able to make it faster than F1B?

I'm 90% sure F1B will be the faster, once again... In my pre-season test I was one second faster with wings... But I'm probably a better driver now (I hope). I was doing 1.24 with F1B and 1.25 with F1C. Last week, I did 1.20's or 1.21's with the winged car, and when trying to push the F1C really hard to be able to compete, I crashed most of the times. Looks like the only time I'll take my wings off is for Monza 10k.

Can't remember really... But it was definitely faster than 3:24's. But I was using the rubber file from my league race with USR Howstons in December (they are even faster: 3:18)... But well, let's say 3:22's and I should be safe. Totally depends on rubber though. Lol, I just realised I said 1 minute and 21 seconds in my previous post... I don't think that is possible :o :o :o

Don't forget to lower your track details from max to high (for those who are using that), and you get rid of the white posts and you can cut more 8)

Keep 2 wheels on track/inside the yellow line >Sad

I'm using HUD, trackmap, but usually disable it in race, and only enables it with ctrl+space when I want to check laps. But sometimes I use it the whole race...
Usually, I check how much fuel is needed before race.. lol :Smile The important thing for me is to have the standings disabled, so I can't see gaps to the drivers around me... Don't want to see it :Smile 8)

Hey guys, it has been a while since I've raced. Last sunday I had a great time. Qualifying was splendid, ran a 1:23 something which placed me 7th on the grid. Had a great start first race, got tapped from behind but I controlled the slide. I was trailling Bram and Kane mostly during the race. After the third lap I was already getting into the zone, going faster each lap which helped me go for a late pitstop. After the pitstop I continued with the same pace.

The feeling of being in the zone is really amazing, especially in racing it's really incredible. When your muscle memory takes over you can ease the concentration and start thinking more consciously. That's the scary part of racing, when you can watch yourself control the car and actually think about other things, while going 200kph through corners.

As time seemed to sort of slow down, I could hear the tyres screeching with each turn I made. This encouraged me to go faster and push the limit. When I had 4 laps to go I overdid it and span. Luckily it wasn't a lethal mistake and manage to get back on track. My tyres were super hot and it was difficult to keep driving the same pace. The lead I had was good enough to cruise to 5th place.

Race two was fun. Defending position against Marcel like I used to Tongue But of course I had to give way eventually. By then my tyres were completely smoked and I span out at the high speed chicane, crashing into the barriers. I tried to repair in the garage but the repairtime was too great. I continued driving a couple of laps but decided it was enough; so I went full throttle in the barriers on the main straight into the barriers, killing myself in the process, haha.

What can I say more? I really enjoyed myself racing again. My rf2 license has ended now but I will return one day to keep on racing. If not rf2 then some other game, it's just something I love to do.

You were right Rikard, 3.21 was a posible time in Belgium. Now a week out and then back to check telemetries and recover lost time. see you.

P.S.: Anyone wants a mexican hat from Barcelona? All US turists buy one there, who knows the reason why Tongue

Sorry for the late report guys but i had to look to the replay as i couldnt remember much of race2!

Kind of a bittersweet event for me. Considering hadn't chosen my set up yet until after qualifying was over I wasn't expecting much. I knew I didn't have enough seat time to really be able to drive the car hard and battle for positions.

Qualifying was basically practice for me trying to find something that would help me be fast and consistent. I think I ended up fifth or sixth on the grid.

Race one:

Pretty much held station on the start and after DJ and Rik tangled together that was up into third place. I didn't want to make any mistakes in the pits and I wasn't sure if I had to share with anyone so I decided to pit on lap 18 just to be safe. All was looking good for either a second or third place finish, but looking behind a fraction too long to make sure the coast was clear, I clipped one of the tall black and white brake marker cones just as I was entering back on track with my rear tire. This spun me around and damaged my steering column and I needed to come back in for more repairs. Was in shock and totally gutted that I threw away a podium finish. In the end I think I finished 12th or 13th in the first race.

Race two:

I think I started from sixth position on the grid. Sorry to Jay Rimes for the slight touch entering into turn one. Glad to see you recover only losing one position hopefully with no damage. Pretty uneventful race from there. I should've probably pushed a little bit harder from the beginning but I didn't have the best of confidence and I didn't want to throw away a potential podium from a mistake. After a few laps was up into second place behind Hedlund. I didn't even look at the gap because I knew it would make me try to push harder. About lap nine DJ had slowly worked his way up behind me, uncharacteristically I just let him buy (happy birthday), I thought it would be better to try to tag and see where he was going a bit quicker. He pitted on the next lap though and I carried on. I pitted a bit earlier this time I believe on lap 16. In the last few laps I was closing in a bit on DJ and ran some very high 1:22 laps ending up only 6 seconds behind in third. Was happy and disappointed, if I pushed a little harder at the start and didn't let DJ by I may have been able to fight for the second place. I also realized in the second race it probably is good to pit just around half distance because after about lap 12 or 13 it becomes very difficult to maintain the same lap time. Maybe only .2 or .3 but it all adds up.

Thanks to all for putting on this championship. Spa should be a good of event... see you all on track!
