Re: SR4L 1960s F1 League Results

Still maddened by the 9 points difference to Nikos in general league standings, so be prepared for a big fight at Croft:

This reminds me of the fights I had with my sister when we were kids usually over a plate of french fries. Very brutal.

Provisional Croft results added. My race 2 had many missing drivers on my log file, lucky I had made screen grabs. Once again check your positions.

Breaking news, vittorio overtakes Nikos in the ranks. Bad day for Nikos.

Provisional Belgium Spa results added. Once again, I had to go by my screen grabs of the results, log files incomplete. Check your positions.

Looks like the Lions got to Nikos, Marcel and Gorka.
New leader to championship WinkWinkWink.
RikH biting MarcelW butt for sure now.

Still 220 points on the table with 4 rounds to go, anything can happen.

Cheers, well if you don't count Silverstone where I knocked out the power cord to PC 3 minutes before start of race 2, then yes Big Grin

I see Nikos is Dq'ed for Race 1, seems like the game was dishing out speeding tickets for him non stop. I looked at replay and can not see any reason for them. Any reason Nikos? If race director gives me permission I will him in 9th place where he finished for lots of juicy points (#sound of vittorio banging his chest at this).

test, one, two ... this is race director speaking. NO! I don't give permission for this action ... over and out. ;D

(i watched the replay and nikos made three times a drive thru with no success, don't know what the problem was for rf2 ...)

Re: SR4L 1960s F1 League Results

I had my first Drive through penalty when I pitted at 5th lap.
All next laps I tried to get it off going in pits, in 7th lap I even did a full pitstop without fuel and tyres but it didnt go off.
I suppose this was happening because I hadnt realised that there was speed limit even after the end of the yellow line.
Then at the 8th lap, I went again into pits, but as I had been overlapped just moments ago, while into pits I got the chequered flag, so I finished race without serving the penalty.
Thats how I figured it out latter anyway.

BTW, I insist, it is stupid to have a speed limit at pits that are on track, like Spa and Monaco.
Especially in Spa, having a limit just before the entrance of Eau Rouge, which you enter almost full throttle, makes it very danferous to join track after pits as you are too slow, no way to build up speed to get away of oncoming car.

I did consider setting pit speed to 300 but I didn't think it was a good idea and here's why:

First of all, yes, normally you enter Eau Rouge coming off full throttle. But, in case you see a car exiting pit, which is quite clear to see, you should slow down well enough to be able to respond to the situation.

Second, if a driver has it's spot at the end of the pitlane, he will never be able to gain enough speed to match a car entering Eau Rouge full speed anyway.. So the ''problem'' that you describe, (that isn't really a problem) still persists for some cars.

Third, imagine two drivers standing at their spot right behind each other, pitting. The one behind is ready earlier than the other so he leaves his spot and is right next to the one still pitting. What if a third driver wants to pit and dives in there over 100 kph, assuming you'd still have to respect the yellow line? They'd crash right in to each other. The brakes on these cars are so bad, especially downhill, it's impossible to react to that going faster than 100 kph. Even at 100 kph it's quite hard to stop the car to a full hold without locking up. At Monaco the same danger because of the small straight. Iimagine having to avoid 2 cars side by side, thus going three wide and some cars approaching without pitting.

Fourth, it may be historically correct to have no pitspeed limit but there is a reason why those are there nowadays. It's safer, also in simracing.

Last but not least, I don't recall any pit (exit) problem or crash at both Monaco and Spa (which basically proves my point), except yours (at Spa). But that was because you failed to read some important info, which was there for quite some time prior to the event.

Re: SR4L 1960s F1 League Results

It's not a modern F1 car... Or am I the only one that enter Eau Rouge with no throttle? Tongue
Only problem with pitting at Spa was the unclear pitlane exit. Cars coming down start/finish straight can clearly see if there is a car leaving pits and then brake a little earlier.
At Monaco, the pitlane was so narrow that cars had to drive back out on the race track to avoid cars standing in pits. That was the real problem I think, but at Spa we had a wide pitlane.

Btw, when you request pitstop the HUD will show up with options for how much fuel you want and tires to change etc. This window will close exactly when you exit pitlane. That's how I knew exactly when I could accelerate. But this only works if the window is closed before you request pit, I think Smile

Im not convinced at all of your reason, but someone must decide and its your duty.

btw I still find looking at speedo, checking if Im past 100, more dangerous than dont looking at all.
Its not the same at pitlanes that are apart from the track, there you have rails guiding you, and limit can be aplied with much more safety.

Again, you decide.

No, this window does not close for me when I exit Pitlane, I have to close it manually, i.e. circle trough menus.

It works, but only if the menu is off when you request pitstop. The window will show up, and you don't touch anything, and it will close automatically at pitlane exit Big Grin
But many times I have to close it manually because I had the tire temps window active when requesting pitstop... or I need to circle through the menus back to tire temps. But for Spa, I made sure that this worked for me, to be sure.
