Sim Racers 4 Life-Season 6-Eve F2 Season-Round 4-Brianza-Reports
#10
Qualifying:

Ran a 35 flat by myself. Just past halfway though I started looking for a dancing partner, first with David then with DJC, neither of them wanting to team up and escaping in front of me on track. Finally I tried to team up with the Hedlunds who were trying to help each other with less than a minute to go in the session but both of them went to hot into the parabolica, so I just pulled into the pits. Managed to stay on the front row which at this track is just about worthless.

Race:

Wow what an exciting event! We'll I knew Rick had .2 on most of us while alone, but when he slipped up the inside of me in the Curva Grande on the beginning of lap two with DJC right behind me I thought we were going to be in the train for the long haul, or at least until the first pit stop. Heading into the first Lesmo I thought Sebastian was going to try to pass me up the inside. Knowing Rick had the speed on us I broke just a bit too late trying to keep him at bay. I also didn't get the second Lesmo exactly right and Rick was just out of drafting distance. On the back straight Sebastian and DJ C. drafted past me and then DJ C. went up the inside of Sebastian in the parabolica.

The race for the lead was over after that. I don't know if those two were thinking about working together to try to catch Rick like I was but either way we didn't pull it off. On lap four Sebastian went up the inside of me into the parabolica hitting the inside curbing with his right front and sliding out a bit wide into me. Our tires did the lightest of kisses but it was enough to lose 4 seconds to DJ C. in front with Sebastian now 2 seconds behind me.

From here to the pit I ran some good consistent laps cutting the gap to DJ down to about 1.6 when I pitted, with Sebastian about 1.6 behind me. Sebastian made up some time in the pits and came out right in front of me. I didn't give him enough space and touched him going into the first Lesmo. He recovered quickly but then I had a huge scare 2 seconds later. Someone crashing in between the two Lesmos had a part come flying off his car across the track underneath mine lifting all four wheels off the ground and putting me into the wall on the outside of the second Lesmo. Sebastian and I were back to nose and tail again now and a lap or two later DJC came out of the pits and made it a threesome.

We started going through a few lappers at this point. I threw my balls over my shoulder and made a few risky moves. With 12 laps to go I had 1.5 seconds over DJ C. and Sebastian, on lap 29 I made a few mistakes and DJ C. was right with me till the end, with Sebastian just out of drafting distance. DJ played nice until the last lap or two when he just about managed to out drive me from the parabolica to the finish line. .027 was the gap between us at the finish.

Overall super happy with the race and my drive. It's nice to be back on track and I love the historic cars!
Congratulations to Rick on another great win, to DJ C. for his classy and patient driving. Sorry to David who must've had a boring race after jumping the start, and to Sebastian again for the touch. I race hard but I never ever try to touch anybody, and usually do a good job of it.

Thanks to everybody at SR4L for all the work and the great historic racing you guys are known for!

Everybody have a great week... See you on track! Smile
