Sim Racers 4 Life - BT44 Season - Round 5 - Zandvoort
#40
I'll explain myself.

First of all, I have no blame against Paul. If he couldn't set server to race configuration it's not because he didn't want to. I know he must have his reasons (anyway everyone has his own life situations).

I don't feel anger anymore. On the other hand I feel sad and disappointed.
Disappointed because I felt nobody cared about the situation, everyone was very selfish just racing for theirselves.
People forgot we are more than occasional drivers that join for a race every sunday and then turn off their computer and forget it all till next sunday. I feel (or at least I felt) that we are a kind of racing family that is there everyday to talk about it, ready to help whenever trouble arouse, ready to stop a race...

What happened on sunday made me felt very sad. The moment we step from qualifying straight into race was a big shock to me. I always take the warmup session as a relax moment. Breething deeply and replanning all posible race situations in my head. Going to practice a couple of starts if posible and then sitting waiting for the race to start and feeling the nervousness arising.
All this didn't take place, suddenly we stepped into the race. I stood there not entering the track waiting for everybody to do the same and argue what to do. But all I saw is everybody getting on track.
Nobody decided to take things easily, nobody decided to say "ok, lets back off. let some race time to go and then we restart". Race started and I tried backing off. The only thing that happened is that I just got overtaken.
After Nikos forced it into restart warmup we went straight to race restart (no warmup on server config). Everybody quickly back to track, nobody in the pits waiting or speaking about it (well, a couple of drivers asked for a warmup but nobody answered).
Race started again. I tried constantly looking at my mirrors and at the message board to see if people backed off or tried to restart again... Nothing happened. I went off track because of not paying attention to the track and therefore decide to exit the race.
I typed some words but nobody did a thing, they just kept racing as if nothing had happened.
I think this was one of thouse situations when a race must be stopped, eveybody take a moment and speak about it.

Lately I've been having a very intense weeks. My wife being in a kind of depression due to work issues. Me wanting to spend as much time with her as posible I had limited time to practice or to work on the race announcements.
She would always say YES whenever I told her to take an hour for my practice sessions because she knows how much I like it and she likes watching me being so cheerful whenever I came talking her about things happening here.
So I've been asking her for the minimun time posible and having to take a 200% from every time I practiced. Not a problem when you're doing what you like.

Personally I want to keep doing this, this brings me butterflies in my stomach all racing week, and I also have a big appreciation for many people here but I on the other hand I somehow feel a bit disappointed at this moment.

(I voted "Let results of this race count". I don't race for the points, I just race for the fun and excitement of the racing. Don't even know how the race ended. I don't think there's a need to skip or a repeat the race.)
