This was a bit of a disaster for me. I kept out of trouble in the first corners, and then managed to avoid the accident in the first lap. I followed the pack at a safe pace, but got distracted for a split second when I saw a car come flying at me from behind. That was John Cook who was involved in that earlier accident making his way back at much greater pace, and I didn't expect to see a car on my tail.
I looked at my mirrors and the dashboard to see who was driving that car, which is just the stupidest thing to do at this track. I didn't catch a bit of oversteer coming out of the corner, was on the wrong side of the track for the next corner and spun off. What a rookie mistake
I continued the second lap with some damage, but that wasn't a smart move and crashed more heavily. Went in for repairs (120s) and managed 4 laps before the next crash. It's kind of boring racing alone with no one in sight, so I didn't keep up the necessary concentration levels for such a track and car lol. Another 120s later, I went out for a final lap. Good thing I was lapped by the leaders, as I would have run out of fuel due to my car consuming a lot fuel sitting idle in the pits. The thought of shutting down the engine didn't cross my mind either...
Kind of ashamed of my performance here. Have to say driving these 917's on one of the most insane tracks in the world was a major challenge
. I will do a lot more practice for the upcoming league to be in better shape and have a proper feeling with the cars.
Well done to all finishers! And Antti's finish with JP was just awesome. Not even half a car length between them crossing the line
I noticed something weird at the end of the race. When I exited to the monitor, there's this default 20s delay in the footage. In my case, it was going 21... 22.... 23.... 24... the replay wasn't keeping up in real-time, it was going slower. Then when checking the stored replay itself, around the fifth lap, the replay starts going slower and slower, up to a point where fast forwarding is still slower than real-time! Antti noticed the same thing with the replay. Very very odd. Did anyone else have this same issue?
