Hi F1 drivers,
I'd like to start by saying big thanks to my team mate.
Thanks to Bart, Our Divine Intervention team is on top of the championship after round 1!
That's wonderful, hope it stays that way :-)
Second, my 60s F1 driving skills really suck, and you could see it in both races yesterday.
I tried to respect all blue flags. Sometimes it's not easy to stay off the line (braking zone to Lesmo 1, for example) so in those cases I just tried to stay on the line and move out quickly when out of the turn.
Anyway, I made a lot of mistakes hitting guard rails and damaging my car. Especially in Race 2, I damaged my car and pitted for I think a total of 6-7 minutes if not more. All in all, R2 was not very good for me.
Race 1 was somewhat better, but I didn't manage to escape the mayhem, and was in
the pits already at lap 1, then I kept it somewhat sane, and got those few points home nicely.
Have to say I'm impressed with everyone's driving.
However, one thing I'm really curious about. How on earth it's 1.25 even possible on that track?
Even after a lot of practice, and trying to refine my setup, my PB is about 1:28.4.
There has to be a 60s F1 driving tutorial somewhere surely? :-)
I noticed that the part where I lose the most time is sector 2, from Lesmo 1 to the start of the back straight.
Looking ahead, while I knew the Brianza track quite well, this time Kyalami is totally unknown to me, so I've got to practice a lot.
We'll see. Looking forward to round 2.
