In qualy things went quite well. Having no rubber on track at the beginning I decided to wait for the close end of the session to do my quickest lap, that was good for second place.

During race things went terribly bad.
Firstly, race sim time was 9am instead of usual 2pm. After updating this afternoon the nvidia drivers, my rfactor2 has come to be quite dark. That made for a very dark screen during race (9am in Nords) getting me difficult to correctly watch the track.
Second and most important, the fps drop during race. Having less than 40fps I was having a big input lag. Being always late at car reactions I was really struggling with car control. I decided to go for an early pitting to see if being away from traffic could improve things but it just didn't work.
I realised I was being a danger to every one around me so I decided to retire from the race.

My Q time was 7:51.8 which put me in 8th position... if John didn't take it at the last minute, so 9th position :-)
Not bad. I felt this was the best I could really do. Up on the grid there were just monsters with their 7:40, 7:30 and 7:20...

Was tempted to ask to start at the back, but didn't do it.

Race starts with some warping and lagging in lap 1, so I stay extra frosty and distant from the others.
Plan works. After half a lap, everything's good, no lag anymore.

I had Jesus on my neck, he was keeping the pressure on.
After a few laps where everybody kept their positions, I made a mistake and Jesus passed me.
I managed to stick to him, and after half a lap, a mistake of his, so I passed him again. 7th position.

I had decided to stop a bit late, around 7th or 8th lap, so I advanced in 5th pos.
Lap 7 ends, so I'm about to stop. I mentally remember the white post signaling the pit entry.
While I'm thinking that there was another one around 100m after, I discover with horror that pit entry is approaching faster than I'll be able to brake.
I make the stupidest mistake I could make. Crash into the pit entry barrier.

That results in 194s of damage to repair, and 7 positions lost. Damn. Was an almost perfect race up to that point.
I come out of the pits with Niko on my tail at 2 seconds. I'm a little faster, so I start to chase Jim and Mel, at that point 25-30s far ahead.

Last lap starts with me glued to Jim's behind. Not that easy to pass on this track.
I wait for the favorable moment and pass him. Last lap finishes with Mel 4.5s ahead of me. Couldn't make it.

In race I ended up doing my PB for this car/track, 7:45.115.

Not bad, a shame that I threw away my good 7th with a stupid mistake.
Despite that, I really had a blast. Thanks everyone especially Paul.

Hey guys..
after all the fuss I stirred, I got my wheel to respond to me. had to change setting in Logitech.
was making mistakes in qually, but was happy with car, so looked forward to race.
in the race I had some nice battles before pitting, jimmy C and mel. got to the first stop and I had to make 2 pitstops, one for me and the other for the car. didn't practice this at this track but I had done it before at lemans. trouble is, at nords we are on a hill and a car left in neutral will coast BACKWARDS! I came back to find my car rolling backwards - Tongue so, if any of you seen that - that is the rest of the story. Wink
after pitstop and rollback - I got into a really good battle with nikos, I kept hoping for him to make a mistake and on the last lap - he did! but then I started to make mistakes and nikos got me - nice one Nikos!
crazy fast is all I can say to the guys up front - Congrats!
and - thanks Paul for all the hard work and D J for the track!
on to zolder!

seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ya --- jer

I was really struggling to even complete one single lap here, only a few days ago, and I couldn't understand what was going on. It turned out that my old setup was far, far, faaaaar too stiff (for this track only or for all tracks from now on, I don't know)... I tried Edwin's setup and it was much easier to drive. I only made a few small changes to make it fit my driving style better. My pb before raceday was 7:25 and I managed to cut off 5 more seconds today. In qualify session all rubber disappeared so my goal (to break the 7:20 barrier) was impossible. I tried to leave server and join again to see if rubber would show up but it didn't. I continued to lap and improved a lot each lap because of rubber building up again.

Started from pole and saw Gorka, DJ and Robert in my mirrors for at least ½ first lap but when checking my mirrors at the long straight I couldn't see anyone. I was worried that everyone had disappeared, but that was not the case :Smile I had a little hot-lap competition with myself first stint and managed to improve a few tenths for each lap. Pitstop (end of 5) went fine and I saw DJ drive by to complete one more lap while Robert entered pits. Next lap I retook the lead when DJ went for his stop and I didn't see anyone until final lap when I lapped a few drivers :-[

Thanks for hosting Big Grin Looking forward to next race

I was surprised we had 22 drivers. Good turn out.

There was some lag stuff going at start of race. Was hard following Gorka his ping was 230ms, his car looked like it was going side ways half the time. Sorry to read you were have issues Gorka with low frame rate etc. Was happy to get passed quick.

Had Robert soon start caught me, he had a nice battle trying to get passed. Hard getting passed me on this twisty track. Thought for sure he would be passed on the start finish straight as he had a good run on me but somehow I managed to keep my place. We did get into a tangle where I got a bit sideways and Robert had no where to go, we both ended up in guardrail. To my surprise no damage, don't think he had damage too as he was caughting me again. After pits i seemed to find a bit of extra speed and was then easy to keep a gap to Robert for the rest of the race to finish 2nd.

Was fun. Happy the bugs with track seem sorted. By the way Tosch has posted a newer version, go get it all.

@Paul, thanks for hosting again, and making all them test servers.
You would not have the server replay for us? Mine is just a lag feast. :p

Hi all,

Qualy: My PB so far was 7:48 or so, I exited the pits with fuel for 4 laps and I did 8, 7:54 and 7:52, I thought that was a good time: 9th until Cookie in his last lap pushed me to 10th Smile

First Stint:
My main fight was with Cosimo, in front of me, I pushed as hard as I could, that was risky at times but he didn't want to make any mistake to let me pass Tongue
At the end of 2nd lap, Rick came from nowhere and I couldn't keep him behind, so for a lap or so, he was the one putting pressure on Cosimo without any luck either, so he decided to step aside and let me by to try again :o
At last, at the end of my first stint, Cosimo made his mistake but just in the corner before 2nd carrusel, a couple of turns later, I did mine and Cosimo got back his position :Smile
Then I went into pits and was 8th after my pit stop, drivers in front were too far and drivers behind seemed to be far too...

Second Stint:
I decided to do a easy lap after pitting, caring a lot for my tyres, I thought 8th was pretty good... but then Hector caught me...damn! He was fast, I was lucky that I was faster in a few turns to take a rest from him.
Anyway he seemed to have higher top speed, so he passed me on the main straight. Someone hat pitted in that lap so still 8th, good ;D
3 laps to go I think, I decided to drive safe and save that position...no! I didn't! Hector went wide soon enough and I regained his position, 7th! 8)
Hector was still faster than me, and that was scary because in some turns he brake much, much later than me. Anyway, he was struggling with his tires a lot and did a few small mistakes that allowed me to gain small gaps from time to time.
My last two laps were my fastest laps ever!! 7:43 and 7:42, when 7:48 was my PB before the race 8)
6th at the end, phew that was really impressive for me.

Thanks all for the fun and specially Paul and DJ to make this possible!

I had a last minute qauli lap that bumped me in front of Cos...

I pitted behind theo on lap 7- at pit exit he was only going 80 kmph- i passed him at pit exit- he was faster than me and we got together a couple times when i made mistakes - ultimately he got by and left me in 6th place with a damaged car on the last lap - great result for me .......did a pb and broke the 740 mark ....about a 9 second gain on my previuos pb - on the second last lap racing theo- Smile

Qualy

Went out early but track had no rubber so was sliding all over the place , managed a 7.39 and settled for that as i was overdriving on my third lap and was slower.

Race

Started ok and held position into first corner , i could stay with the guys in front and could see i was slowly pulling away from Christof so decided to just try and hold position and save my tyres , on second lap i could see Gorka was suffering so i started to push , came over a brow to see him slide wide into the barrier and bounce back towards me , he caught me and i spun , fortunately i missed all the barriers so no damage occured and i could carry on , after that it was a pretty lonely race , the only time i saw anyone was when one of the Hedlunds pulled out of the pits way ahead of me , but my ttyres were suffering by then so i couldnt give chase, my pitstop went ok and i came out ahead of Cos but never saw him , after that i didnt see anyone until the finish .

BIG thanks to Paul , NIKOS and DJ for all the hard work they put into this race , it was well worth all your efforts guys that was a very well organised and fun event

Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car
Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

Disappointing afternoon for me yesterday Sad

Had an ok Quali lap and started from 6th place.

Start of the race went ok but I shouldn't get through the first lap without a spin. The pack being still close together at this point it did cost me some places and I found myself back at 10th or 11th place. We were running in a nice back of three to four drivers for quite a while then. Well, unfortunately that early spin had set the tone for the evening. Don't think I managed one clean lap, a lot of small errors, a few bigger ones which would have cost me if damage wasn't set to low value. Something just wasn't right last night, couldn't keep focus, found myself drifting away on a couple of occasions. Anyway, race ended with me flying through the air and landing somewhere in the woods, just glad I didn't took someone with me.
Well, I guess yesterday was just one of the nights where it shouldn't be, was disappointed and frustrated afterwards as I had really looked forward to this race.
Enough of the whining Wink

Well done to all finishers and thanks for the great turn out Smile

Congratulations to 'Ring-Master' Rikard, impressive performance, and to DJC and Robert!

Looking forward to the next race and its good to be back to racing Big Grin

Congratulations to all on some very gentlemanly driving. Congrats especially to all who made this event possible, esp. getting the proper version of the track ready and hosting and keeping everyone up to date.

I was very fortunate to have the damage set so low. On lap 4 I spun and FLIPPED!. I came down right side up and noticed damage on my right rear. I was trying to keep Jerry and Mel behind me at that point; so they got by. After a few tentative corners, it seemed I could continue at my usual leisurely pace. I also got into a short battle with Hector who was very patient and made it by after another of my many mistakes. I over-shot pit entrance at the end of lap 7 and probably gave Rick N. the scare of his race. My pit crew changed tires, filled the tank, and repaired damage in 48 seconds. Wow! Who were those guys? I returned in P12, though Cosimo was was hot on my heels and took advantage of another little bobble to take that spot before the end. He definitely had the pace on me.

All in all a fun event with a great turn out. Good to know there are so many good drivers out there who also enjoy the historic cars in rF2.

My thanks also to all those responsible for sorting out the various issues so we could have a great race on a great track rendition.

I enjoyed the race, finishing P9 after starting P11. The 3 or 4 guys around me early on were a pretty even match, all of us trying to compete without endangering the others. I had a tow on the long straight on lap 2 and I got by Jesus at the crest and down hill left. It was a bit risky and I think Jesus eased off at the last second when he saw I was going for it. I have to thank Hectari and Gorgias for their advice on gearing. I gained a couple of mph even with a heavier fuel load. Thumbs up to you guys!

A half a lap after that pass, with Cosimo, me, Jesus, and Christoh running in a pack I got shot up out of the carousel and lost 2 positions and several seconds. A few more bobbles followed and I never saw another car up close for the rest of the race. But such is the nature of the ring. Was still enjoyable and a huge challenge for 90 minutes. Great call on the 20% damage.
