No reason to post this here at the news section, do you like questions like that announced at front page of the server?

Is there any difference between the miller 200 and the No chicane version? (Except for the cones)

I was thinking we could remove the mandatory pitstop for race 2 in this track.
As overtaking here is rather difficult that could give drivers starting on top (due to the reversed grid) more chances of a good result and show their skills in defending their positions on track.

Do you think that could be a good idea or is it more fair to keep the mandatory pitstop?

I think it will be confusing not to have a pitstop after 3 years Wink
Our races are always with a pitstop, its part of the fun here.

I am still getting version 1.91 on our server.... if that is the case and you do change it to version 2.01, a suggestion would be to use the Miller 200 (Mi200) layout, it looks a bit better. the real road file below is for the miller 200 layout, if you need a rubber file.

also, speaking of suggestions - just think of this a little nikos - jesus brought up in our discussions of different time/laps formats about having a 45 minute first race with pitstop (30laps), then a 15 minute (10 lap) sprint race NO pitstop and mid-ohio would be an ideal place for that - as you see Gorka already was thinking about it.. just let it roll around a little in your head before touching your keyboard.. Wink

Hey, we are running this place for 3 years now and pitstop is one of our trademarks.

I really dont understand what this is all about, we have members here knowing exactly when race 1st or race 2nd will start, you know very well that we are all around the planet, changing things like that would mean people will start missing races because of miscalculation.
This is not about you, me or Jesus Jerry, its about all the members here.

Also what is this about Miller thing? I bet its slower than current layout.
As it is, Mid-Ohio is on the limit of boiling Lola's F1 Cosworth engine, I noticed I have to put 1st gear many times if I want to survive.
Seriously, anything slower than current layout is a joke.

There, I touched my keyboard Big Grin

Btw 15 minute sprint race? Where did that come from, these are endurance racers built to last 10 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours.
When they got really old they maybe have taken part in a tarmac hill climb but sprint race :o

hey nikos ;D ;D
take a deep breath buddy - didn't want to upset the applecart. people threw out some ideas's I was just trying to get them out there to discuss - sorry, won't happen again.
miller 200 is the exact same layout as no chicane - try it, you will see, it just has more visual and I remember you saying you like that once, I was just trying to please.. no chicanes is fine with me, version 1.91 is fine with me, classic 2- 30 minute session - fine with me...

Lol you didnt upset me, its only that some things like time and day we start and type of races we do, cannot change otherwise it becomes chaos Wink
Of course if admin wants to take it on him, thats a very different matter.

that's cool.
the version of mid-ohio that we have on the server now is 1.91, I believe what cookie is talking about in the thread is ver. 2.01 - if you run that version and you need road rubber (which times at mid-ohio are dependent on rubber ) you can use my above rrbin file I attached. and, if you would run version 2.01 there is a track layout called miller 200 witch is a race they hold there once a year. it is the same track layout as no chicanes, just more visual stuff. check it out if you want.
if you want to stay with version 1.91 I had posted a rubber road file on another thread about mid-ohio that had v1.91 in it, you can use that if you want. (I am on another computer now and can't attach, if you need me too let me know and I will..
IF - you don't want to change - fine. or don't want the rubber file - fine too. Smile

I like the new version, can't compare with 1.91 as I don't have it installed.

I think it'd be better to update to the latest version and set the Miller 200 layout as the one for the event.

I don't want to make things more complicate but just a little remark about the miller200 <-> no-chicane layout:

Imho the miller200 has less effective (smaller, harder to spot) visual reference marks for break-points, especially before T4 (and I think T2 as well, not exactly sure).
This shouldn't be a problem in FP/Q but maybe in the heat of the race...

T4 no-chicane: http://simracing.in.ua/uploads/posts/200...ohio03.jpg
T4 miller200: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2U7dfTfDdE&t=42

But these are just my thoughts. I'm ok with both layouts. After all it's a fantastic track with a nice flow!
