Just checked final race.
I consider Dan's pitstop was a bit against the spirit of the rules (going to pits at the end of the final lap is kind of having an advantage) but also when he crossed the finish line and got the checkered flag he had not yet stopped as he was still at the entry of the pitlane.

I agree you can't finish the race in the pit lane unless you have actually done your stop and changed all four tyres.

Interesting interpretation of the rules. There is no impact of the pitstop on the race result at all if you pit on the last lap after the checker? I would have to agree that a pitstop after the checker on the last lap is not a pitstop "during" the race to change tire's.

When this was used successfully in an actual F1 race, I think the pit stall was before the start finish, so pitstop was still during the race. I think they changed the rules after that to disallow it hat tactic on the last lap.

Even if the pitspot was before the finish line, I think it would be against the rules, yes. But now it was after finish line and I don't think it works at all in rf2 to do that ??? He had simply crossed the finish line and therefore he had finished the race. Honestly I don't think it's possibly to change tires (or do anything to the car) after you have finished, so I guess he just stood there at his pitspot for a while, pretending

It was not my intention to cheat or even try and bend the rules . I would not want to win anything unless it was won fair and by the rules I thought my pit stop was before the line. It was my error and I totally expect and accept a DNF I will not make that mistake again I hope.

To make things clear, pitstop must be done before the final lap so the checkered flag is taken through the main straight and not the pitlane. This also includes penalties.
