Welcome to Sim Racers 4 Life Fun Events.
This event we will drive the BT20 in Longford. Narrow, dangerous and very fast, this classic track will be waiting you to make the slightless mistake. Stay close to your rival in front in the first section and take advantage of the two very long straight and heavy brakings that follow. Only the most brave will survive this track.

SR4L wishes you good luck for this fun event.

I don't know if it is the new tire model but the car felt a lot different than I remembered. More demanding but on the same time a lot of fun.

This is my fave sim car, too. As for Longford, I find corner exit is more important than braking. With all the road irregularities in the braking zones, that's where it's easiest to lose it.

Is there a posibilty to do some research on what happened on race 2? These last events we're always having issues as more people are joining racing.

How did race 2 finish? After having an issue with a lapped car I decided to quit and watch the NFL Packers match which was about to start.

Everyone disappeared in T1 and suddenly they reappeared in the hairpin after the first long straight, with a lot of crashes as result. When we restarted we had wrong starting positions so I expected another restart but that never came so... Well, I had a great first race at least!

Would be interesting to know what happened? Is it something with the latest rf2 builds that requires server to be restarted, or is it the server itself?? This would be a disaster in a league race. Maybe we should set up new routines until problem is solved - restart server twice during race day: before qualifying, and before race 2. This will of course cause some extra work setting the grid, but then make warm-up 5 extra minutes.

I agree.

It was a great first race, imposible to follow your pace but that helped me keeping my concentration and making no mistakes.

I agree also, I think that was the worse lag and warping that we've encountered! I think paul's solution to shut us down to only one server and jack up bandwidth made the second race possible. maybe in the future have only one server going on sunday and max out the bandwidth.. I don't know jack about servers or bandwidth, but maybe those that do can find the solution.
the problem might be: we want larger grids and we are now getting them. I seen that someone said that sunday might have been largest grid that they had seen. I guess that means server must be able to meet those demands..

as for the reverse grid spots. I realize this is a SR4L tradition and it really does make the second race very interesting. Wink this is the second week in a row that I was not where I was suppose to be. although this week I was only 2 spots out of position, instead of 19. my suggestions would be:

1) we have a little longer warmup or 2 warmups - and have paul tell us who is where on grid somehow, like a drivers meeting at a real race. if you fail to correct paul at that time - too bad! grid is set.

2) to have a false grid, it would work like this. everybody grid up for the second race and be advised to note their spot on the grid right up to when the lights go down. at that time abort the start. then make corrections..

either way would add work for paul and time... those that know what is involved please chime in and help.

lastly - I am adding this on here cause in might get more attention. live timing is a really neat way for everybody to learn where they are and where they need to be. I am begging - from the bottom of my old Italian heart - ;D - can we have it current - PLEASE :Smile

It was me who said about the largest grid Smile
I remember we were 24 drivers at the moment prior to the first race. (waiting for Marcel and for Bryan and Ms. to join back some day Wink )

As far as I remember reading, live timing was coded in php by one forum member who is not around here lately.
I have no idea about php. If the server supports jsp, and having the database diagram, connection information plus other extra information I could write a simple jsp page to, at least, check the fastest laptimes.

Well, if problem of live timing not working is just in php coding, my wife has some php knowledge, we could both give it a quick look and try to make the fast laptimes work.
