What a fun weekend! Did about 2 1/2 hours of hot lapping. (And made it back for the Monza race!)
Caveats: The car is not high power, BMW Z4 3.0si, 255HP, in paddle shift "manual" mode. But even at half the speed of the virtual cars I drive, the thrill is exponentially higher. The video is blurry. For some reason my stinking camera/phone does not focus well as a dash cam. The track is pretty bumpy in the concrete areas which causes the camera to shake, which obviously does the video no good. But the bumpiness was actually enjoyable in a way. Makes the track feel alive... like realroad! Session 4 Lap 7 is a pretty good lap with much brighter picture. https://vimeo.com/145347739 Session 5 Lap 3 is a little better lap but has dim picture with late afternoon clouds. (Maybe a GoPro for Christmas?!) https://vimeo.com/145347721 A cluster of "daily drives". Mine is on the left.

Some things that impressed me
Straight is soo bumpy, I guess its because of the concrete seams? Rubber is so much darker, shiny and random than we produce. Track looks very much as the one we use, does it drive the same? Do you brake and turn at the same points? Did it help you irl to have had practice at rfactor2 Sebring Rick. ![]()

Will check the vids later at home.
255HP is double the power I have in my car, si it's already a lot. Driving that little beast must feel so good.

When your swinging around T1 needing grip and the car is bouncing it does add an element of unease, i.e., thrill! As far as turn points and braking, I wasn't driving with the same aggression and on-the-edge style that we do in sim racing, and of course I wasn't going as fast, so it's hard to make direct comparisons. But the sim layout seems very accurate. And yes, the experience of driving the sim was a BIG help. I'm classified as a novice so I must have an instructor with me when I drive. I never mention that I am a sim racer. But typically, half way through my first session my instructors (I've driven 4 different tracks) start expressing amazement at how quickly I've gotten the technique down. I let them go on a bit then confess to them that I've done a 1000 laps at that track in a car that is much faster and more challenging than my little street car!

It is absolutely addictive. If I had enough money I would do it everyday. A cool thing is that I can keep up with most of the high power boys in the curves. But they blow by me on the straights. But as the old saying goes, the straights are the boring parts between the curves!
