Lol Paul
By the way, Paul. On sunday events, could we set the event weather to be not only during the race but also during practice and qualifying? I know that's more work for you to do but I think it can be a good help for people joining to get used to race conditions and to make setup changes if necessary.

this is a "just to say"....... with all due respect..
I know we are trying to get as realistic as possible - BUT - we are racing a sim league season, which is kind of made up and we do this in the winter months when the real world would never have an event at mid-ohio. this weekend will be like zero to 5 degrees above at mid-ohio with wind chills to minus 20 (Fahrenheit) possible snow. I am hoping we do NOT match those temperatures too closely..

And how cool would it be if it started to snow when you set the temperature below zero, and added rain. RF2 simulator? in my a** ;D
Btw it's 2016 and we still can't use wet weather because it's "WIP" and not reliable, not to mention we still have no raindrops so it's way too easy and unrealistic. If I knew this 3 years ago, when I really wanted it and believed it would be added soon, I'd be shocked... lol :o I have stopped expecting and hoping for things for this game long time ago... still enjoy racing with you guys, though.

Ha, no need, just set the track to green with no rubber, even I will be going Wheeee!! too. Hope not but . Anyway temperature makes not difference in rF2 , another thing still not finished. Zero is the lowest the setting will go anyway.

Seeing the weather seems to have a bit of controversy; My idea is to have different and realistic conditions of the area. The reason is to have different behaviour of the cars in every track. If we always raced default 29ºC everything would be very boring.
In Mid-Ohio's real weather nobody would race, but in my opinion it would be great to sim those conditions, cooler engines, tires having more difficulties to get temperature, cooler brakes, wind speed affecting slipstreams and curve speeds.... making it a bit of a different challenge for the drivers in every event.
My dream idea would be to race real weather conditions including rain but that is an utopy in this moment.

Temperature doesn't matter at all, I think. 29°C or 0°C makes no difference. Tires are still at 25 at start, and engine temperature 61... I have never noticed it being harder to get the temperature up.
The only thing we can vary is overcast or sunny, and wind speed might work (actually I have never really payed attention to it but I think it works).
Some clouds on race day is nice though.. I like it when the clouds makes everything darker and then the sun comes back. But that's pretty much the only thing we can change. Sad but true.
I would also love to do one rainy race or two, during a season.

Guys if we were all expert drivers all that would be fun but since a few of us just hang on as is adding all those things make it impossible for the back of the field to survive. Please keep us old slow guys in your thoughts

I've had to check it as I was feeling doubtfull about it.
I have done 3 laps in high temperatures (29ºC) and other three in low ones (0ºC)
Checking the telemetry, engine temperatures (oil and water) were always lower under cold temperatures. Also where brake temperatures.
Tire temperatures started all at 25 degrees but under cold temperatures tires took more time to reach the same temperatures as in the other test (only at the end of lap 3 they were equal).
Also the car felt more tail happy in higher temperatures, but that's a subjetive opinion that could be affected by many other factors and should require a lot more testing.
So according to those factors (if properly simmed by rFactor2) engine, brakes and tires should performance a little different depending on temperature conditions (I haven't changed humidity but that could also have an influence).
Anyway, I still defend my idea of using different weather configuration on every event (and what better objetive way to configureit than using the real weather forecast). (stubborn as a mule ;D )

Good thinking. We can keep rain out of future plans.

Well, cold asphalt and hot tires will provide the best grip, I think I've read somewhere?

No need to worry. Rain is not working as it should (and personally I don't think it will get finished in a looooong time for that matters) so it's just wishful thinking Regarding temperature and wind speed I'm sure you won't notice any difference, I think we have been using real life weather forecast the last couple of events and at least I haven't noticed any difference.
