Arrived with only about 15 minutes left in qualifying, having never turned a lap yet. So, I qualified with default setup, something like 18th. I decided to take one tick off the rear wing to help mitigate aero-push in traffic, and off we went.

Had a solid run. After my pitstop I couldn't brake as late on the cold tyres as I thought going into Turn 5, nudged Gorka harmlessly but spun myself in avoiding nudging him too much, losing a place which I wasn't able to re-take, finishing 8th about a second behind 7th.

But then I completely forgot we were going to run TWO races, and disconnected from the server to catch up on my emails. Oops.

My teammate Dan was not able to make this race because he's working at the Long Beach Grand Prix right now.

Speaking of which, I'd better turn on the TV and watch it!

WELL FIRST OF ALL I APOLGIZE TO ALL WHO THINK I AM a dirty or unfair racers I sure don't try to be
Qual I could not get my practice speed so I qual 11 not good
Race was ok Ed got by me and the pit strategy seemed to mean a lot I got behind Peter and I tried a pass that did not work and I bumped him off. I tried to say I am sorry but to no avail I proceeded like we normally do. Was on brakes could not miss him.

Race two was not good I let everyone by because I was feeling bad from race 1. Started back thru field got behind Bill and damn I did it again got two close locked up brakes hard but could not get stopped and I spun us both was going to wait on you Bill but you clicked out ( pissed I would guess) so I clicked out too and left. I will do points thin think about what I need to do to avoid those issues.
Again I am very sorry to all

No worries Tim you are one of the most sportly drivers i've met and i'm sure all the regulars around here will agree on that.
Sometimes things just happen. For example Dan and i had a great fight this evening and Dan kissed my car more than once. luckily i was able to keep in control of the car but sometimes that just doesn't work out. Like you and Peter in the first race and you and Bill in the second.
Sure the one being hit will be pissed at first but half an hour later it will all be okay.

You're a great guy and it is always a pleasure racing with and against you...........just don't you dare getting even faster Wink

For the people who dont understand what this is all about, let me explain.

Tim had an incident with a new guy here who complained about Tim taking him out while Tim tried to pass him.

Tim said he was sorry about it, but the guy was offended because Tim didnt wait for him to recover.
He asked if there is a rule here to wait somebody to recover if you take him out, and he insisted that other leagues have that rule.

My responce was to take the issue here, but as he didnt come and Tim did, I must take say my view on this.

First, I dontknow of any rule like this IRL in races
Why?
Because if it would be inforced, it would be a highly dangerous law, when not only the guy who was hit spuns in front of you, but the other guy as well stops on a hault in front of you.
It simply cannot be enforced, it would bring chaos in races.

Tim did well and wise not to stop.

Well, it's not exactly a rule, it relies more in the drivers' will. Some wait for you, some don't (or can't because of race situation), many factors involved. I haven't seen the incident so I can't give an opinion.

My qualifying went well. Still working on the car's setup due to little practice. Time was enough for third place, what was good enough.

I had planned refueling for the pitstop which sould last around a minute when I read Nikos saying pitstop would be around 40 seconds. Something wrong in my pitstop? Then I thought that maybe refueling and tire changing weren't done simultaneously so I went quickly for a pitstop with no refueling and I discovered it was that way, so I quickly changed my pitting strategy and added fuel for the whole race for the start.

Race1
-------
Lost third place to Scott at turn 1 which I was able to regain later.
I could keep the pace of the leaders and race David and Kristijan. By lap 4 I overtook Kristijan and a lap later I went to do my pitstop. I relied on the rpm counter lights, just slightly above the second green light to be around 90 something km/h, but I may have been too over enthusiastic and received a drive through for speeding.
That costed me the fight with the leading drivers, but at least I was able to recover up to third place.

Race2
-------
Starting 7th I entered turn1 very carefully losing a couple of places but quickly the cars ahead went into trouble and I quickly found myself in the leading places. Had an interesting battle with Mel, very hard fighter but finally I was able to overtake him.
Later after being able to pass Edwin I was in second place a couple of seconds behind David. I went for my pitstop, this time careful not to get a penalty but couldn't get an advantage on David.
I was happy with my pace, not good enough to atack David but at least I was able to improve lap by lap doing by best lap of the race in the final lap.

Hi, I was participating in the F175 league at F1SR and they were really serious about the having to wait if you spin someone. Unfortunately it led to quite some flaming in the forum afterwards with mutual accusation of not having waited for this and that.
I think we are way better off with saying sorry and voluntary waiting or not. It is just not always clear who spun whom.
my 2 cents

cool to see some new drivers and the grid was huge 20 cars Smile
I did't know this would be league race. I thought that this race is just for fun. I did't get a lot of practice for this race .. but who cares it was fun Smile .

First race: I started cautiously and lost top spot from David, then we fought a couple of laps until we touched and then I lost another position from Gorka (grrr David Wink ) then I waited to see what will two in front do. I waited for the last moment to get into the box and it was worth it, Scott was very strong in the race. was very close to the last few laps and Bruce helped him a little because he did not move immediately when the blue flag waving and had to race him a bit Smile.but in the end I managed to stay in front, well done Scott excellent ride to the end.
satisfied in the end, it could be much worse Smile .. great race at beginning with 3 strong drivers Smile and others wasn't so far away till pit stops

second. race: the second race I started more cautious behind Gorka but Dan B slammed into me at the first corner and that has shaped my race to the end .. I know it was not intentional but should be more careful in the beginning of the race. it's put me in almost the last position in the race, there was too much traffic for better progression in the race, but at the end the fourth place is not bad. Scott was again very fast at the end. I began to catch up with the leaders, but there was not enough time to come more closer. David and Gorka at the beginning of the race made a big advantage already, so I'm pleased with the final result. it could have been better but worse to Smile

speaking about luck, my teammate had no luck in both races Sad
first slammed into a car that was spun in front of him in the first race and forced to go to pit early(damage)and changing tires in first lap didn't help him to Sad

while in the second race Peter Pieszek who complained about Tim, I looked replay and I can say that it was a racing accident, Tim tried to overtake Peter in the first corner, and everything would have been clean if Tim was not thrown by curb, Tim's car was thrown aside when he touched outside of the curb, so he touched Peter. he has not dive into the first corner like a maniac, Peter should leave more space, would never happen (it was in the first race)

But Peter made a big mistake in the second race and ruined Marko race
flew off the track by him self(to much speed)and when he was returned to the track, he ignored the cars coming from behind him and made an accident returning to the middle of the track Sad
again Marko is forced to go to pit stop + damage

i think if you know its your fault when have accident you should wait other car..because probably its the car you race against for points, and i would not be fair to take that much advantage in the race if its your fault. except if other car is to much damaged, but if not you can give place later if other car have to wait for traffic or something..we dont race for money here so i think we should be all gentleman when racing each other..i think patience is key when racing and sticking to one line when racing others(defending,attacking..), will reduce accidents
if not sure who fault is,admins should look at replay..

people need to be aware of when someone attacks yours inside line, that car will still be on the inside all the way.
so you have to go wide in that corner especially mid because that car is still there if he attacks and probably he is on the curbs already(or braked him self and if you are there(outside line) you will probably be hit), immediately you should defend to keep position and not allow opponent to start attacking you. so, much earlier you should make decision what will you do(stay on racing line or go defending). If you do not see the opponent in the rearview mirror that means that he attacks you and you have to leave room. it's your fault if you don't defend the position when time is right. some cars will have better exit + draft so they will be faster so no need for inside defending, better stay on rubber and try to overtake on exit or next corner..

btw there is great plugin called Curs-o-Radar if you dont use mirrors and dont know where other cars are when racing or you dont have triple screen set its MUST HAVE plugin
you will be aware where other cars are when racing, like i said before we are not racing for money and we are not professionals so this little plugin is very good for all.take a look

again grats to all Wink

I'll check out the Curs-o-Radar plugin (now I have a system with the power to run them). I only have a single monitor but it is 24 widescreen and less than a meter away from my eyes. In fact it almost touches the back of my wheel unit. I have all the mirrors enabled plus I have Track-map plugin to show where all the cars are (although this track is not mapped so was no use in this race).

Unfortunately the flags are out of my line of sight so I am sorry if I missed it. I do try and slow when safe to allow lapping drivers to pass. If I am not racing anyone I even pull off track and wait for groups of cars to pass (except in iRacing where you loss points for going off track).

Not sure if it was this incident but I remember I was being lapped at one point and was also racing the car behind me, so did not want to slow too much in case I lost a position..

How come?

I bet theres a setting you missed, perhaps at SETTINGS/DISPLAY as the flags are shown on left up corner of screen.

Yes you're right, problem is if I look up to the top left of my screen my eye are off the road, also I think they are partly masked by one of the track map windows. I'll have to do a bit more tweaking (trouble is I keep forgetting the settings), I may be able to put it in my eyeline. That said the Curs-o-Radar looks like it will help once I have it sitting above my wheel.

I dont think you can do that.

If all fails, keep an eye for the Marshalls, they always wave the flags.

Curs-O-Radar will show cars in blue if they are lapping you. If you put the intervals up on your HUD you can tell if a car behind is for position or not, too.

TrackMap showed Road America just fine for me. Perhaps you need to update the map package.

I preffer a clean screen the less distraction the more you can focus on the driving. Only default hud to check lap number and distance to cars around.

All sorted now. I used to prefer a clear screen with just the car, but I need to know what's coming up behind and at tracks like the Targo Floria the map really helped.

I've got all the stuff out the way except for the rev light which just show above my wheel. Just added the radar and I think it worked well at tonight's Sebring practice race.
