Fresh tires? The tires will barely show any wear. Instead you have a lap where they are not warm enough and have noticeably less grip.

I am really confused by your attitude. Instead of the races being solely a test of skill, you wish to introduce important challenges which are mostly governed by luck and random chance. Such as having a clear lap for qualifying and little pit traffic for your stop.

Now we know what you and I think. Let's hear from more members.

If we don't add any kind of randomness everything in the races would be so predictable. The idea is to add something that makes things a bitter different, other way we would be living groundhog day race after race, season after season. Racing the same track, the same car, the same race positions, the same everything.
I personally don't like that and like adding different stuff season after season.

I like it but there's a point about it. Drivers using manual gears and clutch will have a bigger probability of having mechanical failures than drivers using autoclutch, that would be unfair to them.

My view in all above?

SR4L has a tradition of doing races in a certain way and we want to keep doing things as we always do with minor alterations of course to keep races interesting.

At the same time members' views are highly respected and are taken seriously in mind by the staff.

At the end of the day, Races director, Gorka, will take the necessary decisions as, he is responsible for the organization of the races.

Keep all above in mind and please dont move the discussion in historic facts as this will get us nowhere.

As Gorka says, we simply cant go to full simulation, if we did that would mean for example not allowing more racers than they raced back then, much much less than twenty etc etc.

I Can see good points and bad in both arguments , if we went full historic the cars would be very unreliable and fragile and the races long and very tiring, some of us are older than the cars we race but not in as fine a fettle so would really struggle . Going off past races half the field would be out within 10 laps due to contact and the rest may or may not finish depending upon how they nurse the car , all that sounds pretty boring for my tastes . I like tight close in racing that gets the heart pumping , if we have to loose some of the historic accuracy to get this so what , we do this for fun .

The fuel multiplier and pitstops add another dimension to the racing which hopefully will bring closer racing , a good strategy may bring a slower driver up the field or drop a faster driver down , it brings a level of uncertainty to the racing . On the BT20 being fuel heavy doesnt affect the tyre wear greatly , but , what it does do is make the tyres overheat quicker and loose grip , managing that is going to be the major challenge for us in this season .
Understeer - is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car
Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

you can solve
simply turning off autoclutch on server.
i drive from 15 years with my dfp and autoclutch off. no problem. only for race's start you need to map clutch button.

I just wouldn't mind as I drive cluth + H-shifter, but some folks here have a certain age and they are not comfortable driving having to lift off throtle within gear changes. And thing goes worse when having to heel and tow.
I think autothrottle better stays turned on.

nikos comments about the league are valid :o

i would love to drive realistic full gps' - if it was our goal to get there i would be happy ....but , the format has been good and fun and no reason to think we have to develop it too much more -

as for this year (my 6th year in this league-since 2012 -time flies) - i am generally pleased that we have not introduced extra tire wear as i am dead against it - the fuel will make the car handle differently and it may scare me to see the gas guzzled as fast but it is manageable by the driver and introduces some strategy which i like

i will not be relying on luck to get a good quali lap in - use the available devices to remove luck from the equation -ie: look at the available track map to see where other cars are and enter in an opening - i dont call that luck ....it doesnt suite me , i tend to need a bunch of lapos to get a good one in - usually my last is the fastest

so - while i am in the full on realism camp , i also realize there are other leagues for that and am generally happy about these changes - we can evaluate how it worked out at the end

you did a great job organizing all of this Gorka - thanks !!!

we need to advertise more - i recommend Facebook which has many sim groups for posting about leagues

I can't get onto the server. Flashes very briefly "checking server for missing components" then "package not available".

Go to Steam, find rFactor2 workshop and download both car and new Kyalami.

Once again... THANKS NIKOS! Big Grin I had the car but not the track. Don't know why it wouldn't auto download... don't really care. Every newly-needed mod, package, component for this sim is a challenge. At least for this old codger. Have I ever expressed my love for Steam?!!
