BT20 LEAGUE - ROUND 3 - ROUEN - REPORTS
#1
I had a much better weekend than last. Botched my qualy again so started from like P17 but finished P6. Second race started from P5, climbed to the lead by about lap 5. Fell to P2 atfer only half a lap as Kristijan got by me real quick. Pitted after lap 7 from P2. Came out in P13 but had an off on the out lap when I couldnt get it slowed enough at the end of the back straight. Didn't lose positions immediately but the time loss equated to lost positions after everybody else pitted. I eventually climbed back to P7 so pretty happy with results.

Cookie did well also so good week for C&N!

Another exciting race weekend. Thanks to SR4L for hosting this league and races.
Botched the qual and started 14(?) but able to finish P8 in R1.
However, after the finish line I exited to the pits (before turn 2) and then noticed that I was dropping positions as P9 to P12 finished behind. I ended up listed as P12.
I have reviewed the replay to confirm this glitch did happen.
Could the admins please put me back into P8 for R1 standings. Thank you!
Not concerned that I did not get to start R2 in P3 as I botched the braking on the back straight on lap 1. Luckily I did not take anyone out as I slid backwards in the fence.

I will try to fix it but not sure if I can or not.
My race was good I messed up Qual and got no time but after hitting Mel who got spun at beginning of lap 1 I was able to get back to p11 but was mover to p10 not sure why so I started on pole for race 2 yuk Daniel was on me quick and we had a little mix up and he went around sorry Daniel but got swallowed up by fast guys ended p11 better than I had hoped. My teammate did good race two but Nikos made him miss race one to hurt our team. ( just kidding) bad luck Dave

I did a bad qualifying lap, going constantly on the grass, being wide at the hairpin and hitting the cardboard barriers. It's as if the car suddenly felt different to 5 minutes earlier. Anyway, that was still good enough for 6th place.

On race 1 I managed to stay close to DjC and John hoping to do an undercut on the pits. It worked, but I was too aggressive on the pitlane and went beyond 100km/h for just a few tenths, enough to get fined with a drive through which took me away me from battling for third place with David. Anyway, 4th place was good enough at the end.

Race 2. Started 7th and got pushed against the barriers on turn 2 , that put some damage in my car and made me lose 5 or 6 positions. From this moment the race became very fun, lots of traffic, overtakings, avoiding crashes.... soon I found myself back behind John and David again. This time they had some kind of incident at the end of the backstraigh which put David out of the battle. By the end of lap 8 John and I we both went at the same time to the pits. I had a quick pitstop, 48 seconds, which helped me leave the pits ahead of him and finally end the race in 3rd place behind the two blasting rockets Kristijan and Maciej who where almost two seconds faster than anyone else here.

Qually

I went out and set a time I thought was lousy until I saw everyone else struggling as well , the track was totally different to practice and I ended up 4th so I was relieved .

Race 1

Bummer I got kicked 10 secs before start and couldnt get back in time so had to sit the race out .

Race 2

Starting last place on grid so I decided on a light first stint to try and make up places , this worked well for me , I made 11 places on the first lap and caught Maciej , we then had a entertaining battle , on lap 2 I got clipped by a spinning car which threw me into a 360 and lost me a couple of places but fortunately no damage , quickly regained the 2 places and battled with Maciej again for a couple of laps but then had to pit , came out on clear track and places came to me until I caught Ricky , I thought he had not yet pitted so I didnt lean on him too much as he was lapping quite quickly and settled in behind , after a few laps I realised I had made a cockup and I was fighting for position , so pushed , managed to get past but next place was too far away so finished 6th
Understeer - is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car
Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

Practice:
I made half a million practice laps during Easter holidays, never getting neither pace or consistency or confidence or a decent setup, always reverting to the default which hopefully was not so bad.

Qualy:
I just tried to put a clean fast lap, braking 20 meters earlier, which worked well and posted a splendid time good enough for 7th.

Race 1:
I decided to do the same as in practice and always brake much earlier. During lap 1 at at the hairpin I managed to stop to avoid the people who had spun, I slowly pushed somebody to get him pointing in the right direction and create way for me, after that when I thought I had escaped and was in straight line re-accelerating, somebody hit me coming from the left, which I can't imagine how it is even possible. The car was bent but mostly drive-able, I drove until the pit window and repair all damage. After that I tried to keep it clean and get it to the finish, I am pretty sure there was nothing clean about it but not only did I got to the end I also managed a splendid top 20.

Race 2:
About the same as race one except on this one all the bends were done by myself and I had to retire with 2 laps to go when the car was getting to dangerous to drive and others were coming to lap me.

So all in all: it could have gone much worse

Chris I looked at the log files and I tried to change it but it wouldn't let me so I tried to find out why and when I looked at penalties it says you had a stop and go for cutting track and you finished the race before you served the penalty so it added 35 seconds to your time that is why you dropped to 12th.

Thanks Tim.
That is strange because I never received a stop-and-go warning, and didn't cut the track anytime.
I did overshoot the braking on the back straight on the last lap because of a freeze, so maybe that messed things up.
Oh well, short the 4 points probably won't matter in the grand scheme of things.

I was briefly caught up in some lap traffic, and you were gaining on me BIG time in the last lap. After I made the turn at the end of the straight I checked behind me just in time to see you go flying full speed past the turn and into the barriers.
My game froze halfway through that straight, so I figured a freeze bit you in the ass.

My mid pack race report:
Qualy, mid pack. Race 1, mid pack. Race 2, mid pack. RIGHT where I wanted to be.
I'm taking inspiration from Sebastien Ogier. - don't take any chances, finish the event and bring some points home for the team. Although he's FAST, and I'm kind of a hack Tongue

In race 2, I DID lock up my brakes and cause a little ruckus in the left hairpin on lap 1. Apologies to those who were affected. Fortunately it wasn't too major, but it screwed up my suspension which cost me about a second a lap for the duration of the race.
When in doubt, pass out.

Shannon, I had 5 laps to try and catch you in both races but could not get it done either time.
Looking forward to more chases in the races to come Smile

I froze at the same time. I was a few hundred yards ahead of you and froze in the braking zone. Someone in the live chat said maybe it's caused by people logging off while folks are still on the track. Sounds plausible since it always happens on the last lap

That explains why you weren't threatening me as usual. Dang, and I thought is was due to my improving skill level! Rolleyes
