Looking at the qualy times of the field I clearly didn't have it here. Qualified in high teens. Finished 10th just by keeping it clean. I'm not good at setups and went with more wing, front and back, trying to gain in the sweepers. I don't really think it helped and I was down in straight-line speed. But mainly the race boiled down to not get taken out and keeping it on the track which I mostly did. So, good climb in finishing position but not real satisfying. What WAS satisfying was not taking anybody else out like I did at Long Beach!
And thanks to Hang On (mystery name!) for not getting over aggresive for the last 5 or 10 laps. My car was very squirrely because I didn't take on new tires. You trailed me fairly closely at times and must gave been getting frustrated. Though you had a few possible openings when I bobbled, you never dived in for a 50/50 chance. Tip of the hat to you...

Similar here. Never got anywhere close to the fast times despite hundreds of training laps. Was P15 in Q with a second slower than my PB. Did not feel promising for the race but I had practice and knew the track so I hoped for a consistent race. I did not make too many mistakes and succeeded with this plan in P11 right behind Rick. I once slowed to let the leader pass but then realised that it was not the leader and I had lost a position. This felt stupid.
This league is great. Packed field, quality drivers and good sportsmanship. I am looking forwad to the next race.
Do you even lift?

Was thinking of no pitting again ..but went with the softs a 1 pit ..managed to stay out of trouble ..was very low on fuel ..was not sure if i was going to make it ..good last several laps with Rick Nauman ..hada couple chances ..but not good enough to take the chance of taking him out ..nothing worse than spoiling someones elses race ..good racing rick! Lost 11th spot last lap final corner to Tobias...great race though ,enjoying this series very much..super good drivers

Somehow I got the feel and rhythm of this track and it paid off in qualifying getting pole position. However, as the lights went out, my mind blanked and I lost confidence. Gorka took the lead and I followed for a bit. Eventually I managed to brake super late into the hairpin and overtook on the inside using every last ounce of grip.
I can't remember the exact turn of events for the middle of the race, but I did have some racing with Jose C which was clean and fun. I opened a gap in the lead to about 9 seconds and it was pretty constant, then pitted. Jose and Sergio didn't pit which dropped me to third. Time to attack!
On fresh tyres it took a few laps to get past Sergio and then it was about chasing down Jose. Lots of lapped cars which were very good with blue flags - not much time lost, thank you. I was gaining about a second a two per lap and looked to be able to catch Jose before the end - a real target to aim for!
Sure enough he appeared on the horizon and two laps from the end I was on his tail. I could see him squirming a bit as his tyres must have been poor so there has to be an opportunity. All credit to Jose, I didn't see the passing opportunity and it came down to the last corner of the last lap when I tried desperately to get an aggressive line but ended up trying too hard and spun - totally my fault. Thankfully the gap to third was big enough an I could claim second place.
The experience of this race was very informative regarding setups. I often get a fast setup that is very difficult to control as the tyres wear. That is what happened in Brazil and was happening here too until I scrapped my effort and tried my Kyalami setup. It turned out to be just as fast but much more docile, and then I took off a click of rear wing to balance the tyre wear on long runs and it felt great. The main lesson learnt was to do practice with high fuel and 4x tyre wear to see how the car evolves as the tyres degrade. It's not enough to just have a fast qualifying setup. However, I still don't really know what it was about the setups that made them behave as they did.
Best race I've had in a very long time, even though I couldn't clinch the victory. Bravo SR4L!

First of all, Great turn out again. It is very pleasing to see the numbers racing. We done to all.
Apologies to Shannon, we hit T2 which resulted in a major pit stop. Looks like a racing incident but keen to hear your thoughts.
I worked my way back to around 17th from 24th and was hoping to catch Mel towards the end of the race and sing some tunes with him but made a silly mistake with 5 or 6 laps to go ending any chance. Finished 18th, not my greatest day but that's racing for you. Looking forward to the next one.

I thought I was enough ahead of you that I could continue my precarious line to the outside on the turn exit. Turns out that wasn't the case. Big apologies!
Nine laps later I did almost the exact same thing to Gorka. More big apologies.
Ten laps later, I think I did the same thing to Santiago. More big apologies.
Think I'll go back to rally racing so I'm no longer a danger to anyone or myself
When in doubt, pass out.

The more the season advances, the more I realize that in qualifying on 1 lap my McLaren or my setup is not very efficient but in the race the car is very fast.
8th on the grid, I went on 1 stop and I had a good start to fight with the leaders when in the 3rd lap I saw Dave making a small mistake in front. I went to his left but i think he not see me and our cars touched. I finished head-first in the wall losing my front wing and breaking my bodywork. At this point I was convinced that my race was crap.
After a pitstop for a new front wing and embarking gasoline to finish, I pushed like crazy to get back up the pack. I was not faster because I did not have the body repaired, but the tires responded very well and I could finish 6th after some great battle.
Finally I was lucky...
Congratulate to the participants and the winners.

i didnt fare too well here , my quali pace wasnt great , then lap consistency sucked real bad , - i had a rocket start and passed several cars on the straight only to not be able to stop at t1 - i was standing on the brakes but got into someone - sorry i dont know who that was , i was able to continue but im not sure they were
looking forward to the next race

My first SR4L race using the Oculus Rift. Still learning, will give a fuller review in my thread re the VR. As to the race; had to turn on Auto clutch even though I used the clutch I couldn't find the starter button (may sort that one out later). Started from the back bit off pace so wasn't racing anyone. Went wide a couple of time but didn't crash. Had to stop for tyres (front right and flat spots), but later part of race spent keeping out of the way of cars lapping me.

I'm not going anywhere. I was jokingly thinking out loud.
However, if anyone wants to do some rallying, don't hesitate to hit me up
I'll miss the next race since I'll be in Long Beach for work. Damnit.
When in doubt, pass out.

One of the things that keep things in order at SR4L is the just this, we all say sorry for incidents, then we move on. It helps massively to keep things in order. Just a race incident and if you think about it we have members coming from all over the globe... (one of which has to race upside down:p) to race millimeters apart from each other online. Pretty amazing really.
See you on track soon
