Such a pity
I edited the player file but put the 0 in the wrong place; I put it where the # was. I got the race before the flag dropped but was too late to join. Looking at the results I would have got big points (for me) if I'd finished. Still at least I sorted the haze out. There's always the next race.

Sorry Bruce, it's a shame. The last thing you want to do before a race is mess with files. Always check the forums in the lead up to races as to stay well informed. We missed you out there.

Plus, please please please do some practice laps in the days leading to the race day. Learning the track in the 30 min qualify session before the race is a bit unfair on other drivers who are on their fast laps.
Exiting the server 30 seconds before the start of the race and then rejoin and start chatting and voting, there is little we can do to help you. Fergy made it clear that voting to restart would only happen if there is a server problem. The rules about no chat have been here since day 1. I still have the odd problem with my rFactor where I get disconnected from the server at random at the end of a season. Luckily it has not happed before race yet, I'm hoping I will not be the next unlucky person to miss a race because of problems (touch wood). This was a tuff track. Small mistakes can easily see you in the wall. I qualified in the middle of the grid. Had a good 1st lap managed to overtake few cars. I was following Ramon for a while then I saw he hit something on the road and I got passed him. My 1 stop strategy was working out good until it all went wrong when I overshot my braking and ended up going down an escape road. I had to do a 3 point turn in there. Rejoined, but then hit DeeCee, oops, and I lost my wing off a wall. Had to go for repairs, ended up 2 laps down. I had a good overtake on Tim near the end of the end. It was good to finish, but it could have been better without that one mistake. Tim, on your 2nd post you have Ramon down as DNS with no points. His total points are different to the points on your 1st post. Just thought I would say. DJC

I'm sorry about leaving the race to edit the file with only a few minutes to go, but I genuinely thought I could get beck with time to spare, in fact I thought I had get back before the flag dropped, hence the request for vote. In hindsight I should not have ask for a vote or chatted, but I feel it's rude entering a room and not saying anything before leaving.
I get what you mean about practicing but I have memory problems, I do actually practice before the race. I'm OK on tracks I have been constantly running for years (Nürburgring), and do learn the track as I go along, but forget it later and need a refresher course. That's why I do better on Ovals than road courses. If I am doing realy badly I will leave the race rather than mess others' races up. Before I went off to fix the blue circles (targets?) I was gaining a couple of seconds a lap. That said, I seem unable to go as fast as other people even when I know the track. I've been doing this for over 20 years but still can't go that fast. For those of you who remember GPL Rank and the later NASCAR version; I never managed to beat any of the ranks, although I did get to less than a 1 second away at Monza. I did though manage it at the Superspeedways in NASCAR.

I started a new message then decided to add it to the above, but as I can't work out how to delete this message I'll put it here after all. As an aside to the above post I have added my iRacing Banner for the paved tracks (road top, oval below) as my signature. I will explain in case anyone has not worked it out and/or are not aware of iRacing licenses and iRating. This is what I use in the iRacing Forum (along with a similar banner showing dirt tracks), and should update showing my progress (or lack of).
I have been iRacing since March 2014. The licenses start with a Rookie licence, after that the licences rise from D to A, with 2 levels of Pro Licence (not quite sure how you get them, but one would have to be a lot faster than me). Once you get your D licence you get an iRating of 1500, this goes up or down depending on your finishing position and the iRating of your opponents. All drivers are assigned a division depending on their iRating. Where there are enough drivers, drivers usually race drivers of similar skill or division, as is the case with most oval races (there are a lot of Americans on iRacing). With some races such as (V8) Supercars there are not many people racing at the time that I do (Australia is a long way off time wise) so often class 9 (me) have to race class 1 (Aliens). I get lapped even more here than I do in SR4L. Wins speaks for itself. I have no wins on road courses, and 4 on ovals (2 at Daytona and 2 at Talladega). Licences are gained not by winning but by competing and not crashing. The number after the licence is SR or safety rating. This is the numbers of corners taken against the number of crashes, of track, etc. The max is 4.99, 0 points are lost from trading paint or touching a wall, 1 for off track, 2 for light collision and 4 for heavy. You lose these points whether it is your fault or not, so you lose if you go off track to avoid a crash or someone crashes into you. All the above only applies to official races (where you get paid up to $10 a season to compete); pickup, hosted, league, etc. races makes no difference to your Licence Class, Division or SR. You licence class allows you to drive certain types of cars, for example you need an A class licence to drive Monster Energy NASCARs or F1 cars. Classic Lotus cars (49 & 79) & Indy Cars need a C Class, and so on. You can drive any car in non official races or practice sessions. I mostly drive Monster Cup, Gander Outdoors Truck Series, and have started racing the (V8) Supercars this year. That should explain the numbers on my banner, and give you an indication of my racing prowess in iRacing.
