Qualify went great, unexpected pb.
Race 1 I had a great start, tried to get away from Gorka and the gap was about 2 secs until we came across Paul Swire who was driving slowly, on the racing line after turn 2. I passed him safely but my advantage was gone. Then came pit. I had the first box, things went great until I got on my way again, finding myself in traffic and losing the lead there. Race 2 started great from p2, I got the lead and with a nice slipstream battle after lap 1, I managed to keep the inside line for turn 1, while Gorka and DjC were drafting to get by me and they did but they went too wide for the corner and I kept P1 there. Next lap, DjC was inside for T1, I gave him room while still ahead for the most part but he tapped my rear wheel and I spun around. No real damage but I had to wait a while to enter the track safely. Had a nice fight with Bryan where it got physical again but we both could make our way again without too much problems. 5th place... Race 3 again a good start, found myself in 5th after first lap and had a go at Everon. He had trouble exiting turn 1 and I was able to get fully alongside on the right, only to find out he wasn't going to give me room in t2, he cutted across like I wasn't there and again I spun but this time, I got collected by Bryan who couldn't help it. ![]() Soo... Heavily damaged I stumbled to my pit and repaired but it was done. I tried to get fastest lap and got up to Neela in the last lap, who was in 10th place. I easily could have passed her and get her point (and possible fastest lap) but I thought she deserved that 10th place (well done Neela!!!) so I backed down. See ya at Monaco :o

It was action packed that's for sure and the heat was on in the opening laps.
Race 1, starting from P7 I went to the right of Everon, at the same time PC went to the left of the guy in front of him. Unfortunately our wheels locked seding PC and Everon off the track, sorry guys. Running 4 on lap 10 my new found problem with the Porsche Wheel appeared, the shift up lever is worn out and is dropping back to N from any gear from time to time, need to weigh it up, fix it or buy a new one. I can see fixing it costing at least the half of a new. My Birthday is coming up though Neela ![]() Lap 11 slammed into DC, both drivers rushed to hospital but were ok. Finished 14th with the F word used at least once ![]() Race 2. Starting from 14th I got a good start and with some luck found myself well up the order. A great three way battle unfolded with Rob M, Everon, and myself, Rob doing brilliantly to hold until I forgot to brake at T1 and crashed in to the barriers, not the smartest thing I every done : . I didn't repair the damage and after my stop I found Marcel W hot on my tail. We hit, it was poor driving by me, when I looked at the reply he gives me room and I drove across his front left, very sorry Marcel Managed to finish 6th in my best result for my dirty evening. Race 3. 10th into T1 around 5th by the second lap before I could not avoid Marcel and Everon in T2 end result last once I came down from Orbit.

although i quit out early in r2 ill post a report.
I really didn't have much time to practice for this race and it showed. I was making setup changes during Q and found a setup that put me in 5th which I was pleased with but that's where the night ended for me. R1= start was bad im not sure if that crash was my fault or not I really can't remember I think the start bug confused some of us. My pit strategy was a quick 5 lap stint than 10 laps to get the tires up in temp, which I have to say worked nicely. I spent the lap making up positions and finished mid field. R2= had a great start with some really good battles with E. and Rob M. I found myself battling for forth when I got caught in robs slip stream and lost control in T1 damaged my car. I pitted got my car fixed amd exited in last place I started to push my way around the course and lost control again. I was tired so I decided not to go on so I left....just one of them days.................. I might be away for Monaco

I was quite lucky on this event (overall having quite luck in all 3 league events we've had... hope it lasts),I got away off any trouble and made no serious mistakes.
Qualy ------- My fastest lap was the best I could give in a single lap, no way of being able to hold that pace for several laps without a mistake. Marcel's time was unreachable. So I felt happy to be second and have a clear road ahead at race start. Race 1 -------- To much wheelspin and checking mirrors made me go to the right wall and kiss it. Screen showed There was damage but it wasn't noticeable. Made it safe to second place after turn1 and expected Marcel to pull away quickly. But somehow I was able to hold the pace losing just a few tenths per lap. As he said at lap 7 he found traffic at turn 4 (probably the worst place to be held in traffic, such a quick angle curve) so the 2 seconds we had in distance flew away and put me on his tail. We were at the same strategy and entered together to the pits that very lap. When my pit was about to end I saw (Vittorio?) coming to pits and calculated I had to wait for him to pass and therefore lose some more time to Marcel. But then I saw his pit box was before mine and Marcel had to wait for him to pass so I could get away with a 3.x second advantage to Marcel. The remaining 7 laps I knew I had to drive to the limit. I kept well concentrated and was able to lap fast and constantly keeping the distance to him. Final lap I took less risks and manage the time distance (That was a sweaty second half race) Race 2 -------- Starting from pole I got a good reaction at start but released too much the cluth pedal and my car lost a lot of revs losing first place to Marcel. It was a great battle triangle for a couple of laps, Marcel, DjC and me until they touched at turn 1. It was a scary moment trying to avoid them. The rest of the laps was a short distance battle with David until I went for my pitstop at the end of lap 7. Then I found Vittorio was already pitting in the same pit box I had to stop. So I stopped parallel to him. I saw seconds going by but Vittorio pitstop was taking too long. I tried then to change cameras to see if I could get out of there straight or should I reverse my car to avoid contact, but logically server doesn't allow the driving view to be changed. Pitstop ended and tried to leave straight but our rear tires were touching so I went for reverse gear and went out of there as quick as I could. After my pitstop I had no hopes to have battle with David but when he came from pits he was only 5 seconds ahead (his pitstop took longer than expected). I tried to give it all but just could gain a few tenths per lap so I resigned second place was good enough. 3 laps to the end surprisely saw Rob M coming out of pits right behind David. That really didn't look logical as gaps between cars and pitstop minumun times didn't match. Finally ended third right Behind Rob. Race 3 -------- I was really cautious at start. No unnecesary risks and busy traffic battles ahead kept me in second last for almost the full first lap. As things were settling down I started pushing harder. After the severe crash ahead at turn two I found myself in a 5 car battle for the lead. This ended up having DjC and me in front just before my pistop. After we both pitted we met again and battled for a couple of laps until I was able to early catch David's Slipstream at the straight and was able to pass him. I then pushed all I could and was able to open a confortable gap to him. Now back to Montecarlo.... I really fear that chicane

The tyrechange seems like a mistake I'm liable to make too one of those days........
The Glenn race, I was lucky than as I thought that went automatically, but it seems not? I thought when you go in for fuel, the change would happen, but no? How do I set that in the setup than?
18-02-2013, 10:55 AM
@Wim, Your liable to make one of those one day? Rather negitive... You have to physically set No Tyre Change in the race. Doing so results in a DQ as per Event News and the seasons rules.

As fas as I know Wim, tire change is always activated. The only way to avoid it is while on track at the pit hud disable it tire by tire.

Well, if Rob can make that mistake; I figured I can do too because I never really looked into the tyre thing as I thought it was automatic.
But it is so I can stop worrying about that; thanks.

Race 1
Got a good start and followed Gorka and Marcel into turn 1 , I stayed with them for a couple of laps but then they started to drop me so I just got my head down and tried to drive cleanly , I was pitting on lap 6 so on lap 5 I went to request a pit stop but I had forgotten to reassign a button after changing wheels , I spent the first half of that lap pressing various buttons and driving slower which allowed Fergy to close me down , Pitstop went ok , could see Fergy a couple of seconds back but coming out of turn 3 which I took flat I just drifted a little too wide and caught the grass , this started a tank slapper and at that point I became a passenger , when the car had finally made up its mind which bit of barrier it liked the most , it speared into the Armco on the inside of turn 4 and bounced across the track , unfortunately I took Fergy out (sorry) and that was it race over , car was too badly damaged to continue . Race 2 Got an Ok start but got baulked a bit and didn’t make any places up , made a few places before my pitstop which went ok , was coming down main straight and could see Fergy accelerating out from his pitstop and we made turn 1 with me ½ a car ahead , Fergy stayed alongside me between 1-2 and we went into 2 side by side , I could see that if I held my line there would be contact so I took to the grass (you can only take out the race director once per meeting) , on rejoining I could see a car gaining quickly so I stayed left but we still touched (sorry john) I had no damage so drove to finish . Race 3 Hero to Zero Got a brilliant start and was in second place behind my teammie by turn one , Vito pulled over and let me pass (you didn’t have to do that Vito) and away I sailed, approaching my pitstop I had 6.5 secs over Gorka so I thought I could be in for a top 3 finish ,then my one working brain cell overloaded and crashed , stupidly I accelerated too fast out of pit lane and got a drive through , I drove the next lap rapidly expanding my database of swear words only to enter the pits too fast and get another drive through , its amazing the number of times you can get the F word in a sentence when you really try ! , after that I drove to finish and hid under my dash blushing brightly . The word dummy springs to mind . Another good meeting with a great turnout , nice one Paul/ Bryan thnx for setting it up again .

deecee52 Wrote:Race 3 Hero to Zero That explains it. At around lap 4 when I got to third place chasing DjC I checked the time gaps and you were 9 sec ahead. Three laps later gap reduced to 8 sec and I thought that catching you was going to be almost imposible. After the pitstops I couldn't find you around so I thought that something must had happened to you.

My mistake was not remembering the rules !..lol I in fact I stated to other drivers at the Glen race to remind them the tire change was mandatory ! .. so ive done it before lol thats the funny part : .. I just went merryly along setting up my pit stop to not change tires, as they were perfectly un warn and not in need of changing ..lol .. I have my pit buttons maped so i can adjust pit stops from the wheel in a rather neat fasion so its quite easy for me after some pratice to select each tire/change/no change/wet ect.. down the list with a few clicks ... :-X sigh ...lol So Wim thanks for your support on my mistake but it does take some effort to set for no change lol so i was my own worst enemy this time ! As I said befor the racing was still fantastic !.. I except my DQ as gracesfully as i can knowing it was my own falt and clearly agenst the rules ... lol

Here are some video's of the incidents I mentioned in my race report. As we say in old Dutch; "Ter leering ende vermaeck", which means something like "for joy and to learn from". Although the joy, if there is any, is not on my side.

Devils advokate, if Bryan (oh, what a nice skin he is having) and Everon are to blame (I think they are), maybe you are to blame for incident with DJ?
He was alongside you, you closed the door on him, he backed up, probably lost it under heavy braking to avoid you. btw does your post run at slow-mo? I would like to see it normal. edit, I see its normal but 3 vids together, give me lag. ![]()

May I inquire about using team speak. I'm not sure if it's required. When I raced years ago in Nascar it was mandatory. I know there can be problems with talking but it saved a lot of miscalculations when passing or being passed. I know that's not how they do it this style racing but it seems it would help.
