Interesting event, to say the least... ;D

The afternoon before the race I found that the B had a slight edge over the A so I went for full wing config.
Still uncertain I tried the B a hour before qualify and almost went sub 25 without tow.

I was pushing for 24's in Q and several times I was a tenth faster, compared to my 25.1, at sector 1 and 2. Most of the time, parabolica screwed it up for me...

Race 1 the lot got connected. From my replay, I must honestly say, there was no lag between the top 3. After that I had David Coyne on my tail but I managed to lap quicker and kept 1st place, even after I overshot my pitspot.

Race 2 I had a clumsy start, kept to the right where I found David Coyne and DjC getting together after some other incidents.
Then it was a matter of overtaking as quick as possible.

Axe in another topic Wrote:if you want to yield under the blue flag please slow down outside the racing line.

While this can be true, it's better to know who's behind you, then say if you exit a corner and the guy lapping you is already left and you are right, stay where you are!... Don't get nervous and try to make way by going to left as well...

Apart from that, and the lag, I got a pretty smooth second place behind Bart who must have made a stellar start. After my stop he was about 9 secs away in first. I tried to close the gap but I knew I would never gain a second a lap on him so I was happy with 2nd place.

I sincerely hope the lag issues will get sorted.

I leave you with a nice shot of Yerke and me, fighting for position in race 2:

Race 1 well... Green flag drops and its go go go, Marcel (directly infront of me in 1st)must of sandpapered his tyres b4 race start cos he got a cracking start, over to my right DJC and Gorka(both on front row) both got a squirmy start with there rears jumping, I saw Gorka get ahead slightly but looked like he was closing the door on DJC, then DJC was looking for more room moving across towards me but notice I was there and held his position at that time Gorka was still closing the door and DJC was stuck, I believe there tyres connected DJC went into a spin and both cars came directly at me and took me off. I remember thinking something bad was going to happen and maybe I should back off but if I let Marcel get too far away I wont be able to keep up. Its amazing the thoughts that go through your mind in such a tiny space of time. All the above was really 2-3 seconds. That was it then I recovered off the spin into the grass with damage only to find my two best friends infront of me again. Then the whole restart restart calling, man that confused me I didn't try accelerating away cos I was almost convinced a restart would happen. But as I saw them both with damage trying to accelerate and keep straight I decided to continue as fast as i could. I got past them both no probs it look like they got more damage than me. I had to do some quick thinking, how many places had I lost, should I pit now that ment I'd have to go 19 laps. The damage was too great the car really didn't want to drive straight and it was hard work under braking because of my odd setup.
I pitted luckily the damage got repaired and my car was behaving like normal. That was it really to the end of the race DJC was behind me 10secs most of the race duration.
I manage to gain a couple more places towards the end and I finished in a lucky 4th place well I'm lucky to still get good points.

Race 2 completely fabulous, easily one of my best at SR4L, starting 4th from back I had Marcel behind me, I knew he would be quick, I had plans to follow him cos he gets good grip on his starts. The green flag dropped I accelerated really quick with good grip too only to find lag or delayed reactions to the start infront of me I almost hit someone but i let off , then it was a lot of ppl going from left to right and right to left and having colisions and smoke. It was kind of accelerate let off accelerate let off once the pack started to get thin way before t1 it was time to start working out where I was.
So I brought up my LCD and cycled up, where was Marcel ? I got to the top of the list while driving only to find Mel fisk and Gorka there. Then I knew he must still be behind me somewhere and not directly behind either. That was it then it was go as hard and fast as I could while not heating my tyres. I can only remember passing Mel which was quite hard to catch he was fast in the race, I got behind him and realised my car really misbehaving in the draft so I waited it out, I didnt want to ruin his race or risk anything. I knew Mels the type of driver to yeild if slightly behind so I waited till I could get enough speed up to be infront, once settled there it was time to catch Gorka, looking at the time differences he was actually getting away from me yet I was setting good times myself. After a few laps tho it all came apparent I knew there was nobody infront just Gorka and a name tag flashed in the distance on the approach to Lesmos, I figured he must of been pressing too hard trying to get way making up some distance and had an accident. He was badly wounded I flew past in a few seconds to find myself now in first well this was great I couldnt believe it, I was first after not so much effort or work. My concerns where Marcel, I kept checking my LCD only to find he was gaining, I think he was somewhere 3rd-4th before my pit tustling with yerke and maybe hector was there too. lap 8-9 came around and I had some strange car behaviour, It down geared on me very strangley round a corner, that really heated my rears and they came sloppy in the next corner at lesmos, so I paniced I thought I better pit early if my car was wearing early. It seams it was the right choice Marcel also came in the pit. When I left it was a 10 sec gap and all I had to do was keep good to high average lap time without tiring my car, he was still gaining but not by much and I certainly made him work for it if he wanted 1st, he couldnt go 1 sec faster than me every lap without killing his tyres. Well thats it , I loved the race and I think it leaves me in a good position at the start of the season, now for the next lengthy practice at the next track.

Nice race reports all.
Was very happy with my qually time for 2nd place on the grid no beating MarcelW this time.
Race 1, as said already by Bart, big crash after start. No fail with me, Gorka slowed and moving over me. All I could do was hit the brakes but to late. I knew there was a car to left (bart). Big mess with just about all cars behind us. :S Straight to pits, 85 seconds damage, somehow I managed to put 30 laps of fuel in my car, oops. After that, lots of overtaking cars. A lot of the cars I was overtaking were cars 1 lap in front of me, but soon I started to caught cars for positions. Had one or two hairly moments with one or two of the new guys, but finished not too bad.

Race 2, Had good start. Did everyone else forget where the gas peddle was? :O Shot passed the row infront of me, but soon was held up. I was stuck in the middle lane, the slow lane as it seems as cars left and right were flying pass. Was as Bart said "accelerate, let off, accelerate, let off ". David Coyne was infront to the right, on the road that takes you to the oval layout of the track, in his panic he tried getting back to the correct side of the road but side hit a car. that car hit another car, then that car hits the wall then bonces into... guess who's path? yes mine Big Grin. I find myself doing cartwheels down the track finally stopping on my head. Marcel and David were close to see if I was still alive. Back to the pit for an other long stop. Still finished in top 10.

Watching replay of race 2. Had big laugh at watching a big crash that developed in pitlane. Poor David Coyne was thinking what the hell is going on as he was sitting there with cars spinning and doing 3 point turns around him. Sorry to laugh Big Grin

All out of fish.

As for lag problems:- For me the new build reset all my connection details to defaults in the multiplayer.ini file. No idea if players need to change them, but what the server set to?

Results are up but not final.

Race 1 under investigation. Xml's need to checked. Report to come.

Race 2 Funnily enough the conditions didn't change in race 2 the lag was bad but we only saw one DNF and that was a game fault unfortunately. Race 1 really took us by surprise and all was well up to then.

Qualy

Went out early so I had a clear track , set my best time pretty quickly , went out a couple of more times to see if I could pick up a tow and get a better time, but I couldn’t find anyone , I always seemed to pick a clear track . qualified 5th which I was happy with .

Race 1

Got a good start , I went to the outside to draft Gorka on the long run to turn 1 , he started to move left and was opening the door for me when suddenly all hell broke loose , I saw a car go up to my left so I stayed as far right as I could and suddenly it was just me and Marcel , I was matching Marcel for a while but I decided to run my own race as I knew I had a chance of good points if I wasn’t silly , after that everything went smoothly , I could monitor the gap to the guy behind and kept it to around 20 secs , I got 2nd place , great start for Team Davit .

Race 2

I thought go for a slow start and stay out of trouble , started slow pulled over to the far right , saw DJs car go tumbling past me and was just congratulating myself on staying out of trouble when Marcel hit me , This pushed me round and into barrier , got going again but car was damaged and kept trying to swap ends , once I got used to the handling I found I could still lap quickly so decided to carry on , I worked my way up from last to 8th before my pitstop and could see a gaggle of traffic ahead so I decided to pit and see if I could get places by coming out on a clear track , I called for my pit crew as I entered the first Lesmo , exiting the second Lesmo I saw Cosimo starting to loose it , he was on the left and starting to spin to the right , so I went left , sods law he spun and came back to the left and wiped my front wheel off , limped to the pits for repairs , got a 308sec pitstop , whilst sat there waiting for the clock to run down I got hit hard by 2 cars racing side by side in the pitlane and mayhem broke out around me , got hit again as one of these cars then drove the wrong way up the pitlane and hit someone else , unbeknown to me this had damaged my car again and wasn’t evident until I tried to leave the pits , the car just went where it wanted , I shot across the track but fortunately no one was on the main straight , so I retired . That was a crazy way to get knocked out of a race , we need to look at pitlane discipline .

Hi guys, here's my report:

I made a lot of practice during the last weeks, I was ready andI was feeling very confortable with my eveF1B.

Race 1: Unfortunately the big nightmare becomes true. Big crash at the start, and I was involved on it. I came out with multiple damages and decided to pit immediately (+150sec). After the stop I found myself in 10th position, which is not so bad for me and managed to finish the race in 7th position. Not bad at all! Smile

Race 2: I had a good start avoiding a little incident in front of me and putting my Honda Nr.8 in 6th position. We was having a good peace with George Mallis in 5th and my teamate Yerke in 4th and after some the two honda was going together for some laps following Mel Fisk.
At the 10th lap, me and Mel was going to have our pit, he looked very slow to me and I tried to overtake him befor entering the pit (don't know if it's allowed). Well, I ruined completely what could have been a gold race for me and my team.
So sorry Mel and the others involved! Sad

Thank you all and see you @Kyalami Smile

I've check the replay Giorgio. There was nothing you or Mel could do. He lagged from your view and you lagged from his. It looks like you have both have DQ's for a pit violation. I'm trying to edit the files to correct it. Race one was SR4L darkest moment in 20 months or operationSad sorry again.

DC has the same Pit DQ in race one, looking at that too.

Qualy
-------
First half of the session I found it impossible to find a clean track, full of lagging and flashing cars there was no way to get a quick lap.
Session was about to end so decided to go easier and get at least a time, 1'25.5 which wasn't my best but at least enough to be in the first row.

Race1
--------
warmup track reload held to have a default rubbered track, keeping the right lane completely green. That meant for a lot of wheelspin in all first 3 gears at the start. In the acceleration looked left, Marcel was getting good grip and got the lead, David was behind after not a good start. I then Moved slightly to the left to look for a more grip line and for Marcel's slipstream. Then a sudden push from behind (not tire contact, but nose to tail contact) and it all ended in a crash drama. Car was seriously damaged and went to the pits for a 140sec repair.
Left the pits behind Marcel about two laps behind. Decided to try and keep his rythm and therefore take advantage of the cars he was lapping. But the lag made for his car to appear/dissapear, sudden appear in front of me/back to where he was.... This happened also with the car's being overtaken and was really disturbing and caused me to kiss a wall and damage again, deciding it was enough for that race.

Race 2
--------
Starting in the third row I made a good start through the right lane (as I was having flashing cars in the front). At the first turn I was already behind Mel who preffered to keep his pace and didn't battle me at the braking for parabolica. From there I was comfortably leading the race. It was about lap 5 or 6 when I saw Bart had already overtaken Mel and was at 5+ seconds. I was comfortable racing and our laptimes were quite even, so I thought that I could win that race if I drove cleanly and had no trouble at the pits.
But approaching Lesmo 1 a car several seconds ahead did a big lockup thus when I approached the curve everything was covered with smoke. Just couldn't see a thing and had to blindly take the turn. Unluckily I kissed the inside kerb and that pushed me to the left barrier and got a damaged car. Difficultly drove to the pits for a 84 second repair. Finally ending the race in 6th place.

I already have changed the special effects settings, so unrealistic smoke won't be a problem at kyalami.

Pre Race......odd to see connection issues.....theres a first for everything...hopefully we get it sorted. With 0 time left in warm up everon disco'd....20 sec before the race he came back and asked for help....i voted cause i felt bad for everon having to watch after all the delay in the start, it seemed the right thing to do.... not because a bunch of people crashed....

Race 1 - i could not slow down by the time i got to the grand curve and a huge pile up.....60 sec pit stop fixed me and i got into 7th before the end

Race 2- the field was warping in front of me.....i moved right across the white line but knew i could not stay there...theres a barrier.....when i moved back i locked wheels with someone and couldnt get loose....it pulled us into a spin but i was able to carry on with body damage.....got 8th- my teammate mel got 5th

woohoo - Good team points to start us off

ps- my points are showing on the league site....but mel's are not, hopefully the pit dq will get sorted- if you ignore a pit dq during race it ends your race, so....its abug?

Well done Smile

I see your point Cookie. It's happened before when drivers have missed on the buzzer. DJ was a good example last season, left the room and missed the race with not enough time to get back in. I felt bad but nothing I could do for him. Mel raised a good point with me about me saying restarts will only ever happen with technical issues but again, I have to make a call based on what I'm seeing, while I saw a huge crash the lap issue was a whole new thing.

I'll have a report later with facts and figures.

Just want to say thanks to my team mate Cosimo, Divine Intervention has done enough to hold the championship from the very first and second race. We have had a great start and I'm very optimistic about our teams season ahead. Lets keep up the hard work and consistency scoring points all season long and I see a trophy.

I entered the pits carefully, and when in there, chaos!!
It was like 4(?) people fighting each other for a parking place.
I tried to get to my pit unnoticed, but no, I got a hit that sent me on the barrier, tiptoying I eventually reached my pit and started whistling innocently, wishing I wouldnt get another hit from the fight that went on :o

Hi guys,

It was very nice feeling to saw all that participations, with new members and teams, at this first racing weekend of new F1 Championship by SR4L!!!
Before my report, i want to make some issues for brainstorming.

1. Not all, but some don't respect (or don't understand) the racing rules, with first of all the blue flags. Not only the blue flags for example also the racing line when some faster driver is behind or after crash the esc button.
Also most important are the brake positioning when are behind from the previous driver who brakes before T, situation who drives immediately to crash...
I understand (and i like) the aggressive racing driving, i understand also the mistakes, but i propose to organize some "school racing events" to learning and make simple all that tips.

2. I respect the SR4L rules, but after the totally disaster on R1 (if i remember well more than 10 drivers come out) i think is better to stop my car (my car had serious damages, but still "drivable") because from one hand when i drive a damaged car to pits can make problems to the others drivers, and for the other hand i suppose for the race restart (also i saw chat voting proposals from other drivers), practice who is used in real racing events, when it happens same things in race starting...
I would like to apologize for my participation in at least one voting procedure. This was a great mistake my promise not to repeat at the future again.
Sorry Guys!!!

Qualifying:
I do my best 1:27:1xx, so qualified 13th which I was happy with this (without good setup and time for practice).

Race 1
Got a good start , I went from the inside slowly and at the end of straight i saw well the smoke from crashes, so i manage to pass all that car from inside (grass). Almost did it when got a very strong hit directly to my rear end and my car starts flight. I saw the video (when all others run the race 1) and at least one drive come into the clear chaos with full throttle. For my opinion this is unacceptable!!!

Race 2
Again had good start (from the 10th position in grid) and pass some other drivers in first lap. I could not be 100% focused, because the 1st race happens and of course from my from incomplete preparation, so i do some mistakes and lost some places.
At the 10th lap manage to have my pit stop (without any damage!) and when I entered the pits carefully, and again…..chaos!!!
One driver drives improperly so hit me, and i hit Nikos who entered the pits.
Really sorry Nikos (Χίλια Συγνώμη Νίκο!!!).
After 50 sec finished my pit stop and after that come my disaster, i hit in the wall at the exit of pit lane, so any try for good race finished...
In my second pit entry i can't stop my car (my speed is ~10km) because i am with only 3 tires and without brakes, i try to pass gm from ....the wall....but i can't so i hit him.
I am very saddened by this and apologizes to gm, Really Sorry.....

Overall is a very nice SR4L night (ok with some problems but that is life!!!) and i hope more in future.

Thanks all, Thanks SR4L!!! Smile
