Sooo, Smile

Qualify went reasonable. Rikard was too quick for me, as expected and I was happy with my laptime and 2nd position but not so happy with the dirty side I would be starting from. Dj should have been just what, 5 tenths quicker and I wouldn't be complaining about dirty sides... :Smile ;D

I had an okay start I thought but Dj got better grip and was alongside me so I let him go a bit, only to find Roland Haans coming alongside, where did he came from, I thought?? Again I was very cautious and let them have it while Gorka was right behind.
Roland and Dj had their battle and I was following them 2 secs behind but looking after my tires. Then Roland had made his move on Dj and I was able to close in on Dj, while pulling away from Gorka. Those 3 laps behind Dj flew by, I wasn't even watching my hud to see how many laps we had done. Until at the end of lap 5, I was about 4 tenths behind Dj coming on to the main straight. Dj did what he was supposed to do, keeping right for pit entry. I was trying to line up for a pass but I saw Dj slowing down just in time to let go off throttle and steer to the left to avoid him. :o That was very close ;D

So next lap my stop, as planned. Everything went great tho I saw Cosimo struggling to find his spot. Eventually he drove thru the barrier onto mainstraight, in wrong direction and cornered to enter pit, only to fail again. Sad Crew was ready, I drove away but in my mirror I saw Cosimo accelerating and moving over to pass me. So I gave him room but went just a tiny little too far to the left and met a fence which was hard to see in the first place, but proved to be very hard to my suspension as well. I was yelling ''noooo'' in disbelief but got on my way, with serious damage.

Then just after the bridge I didn't keep it steady enough and touched the barrier again and at that moment, I though about giving it all up. Can't afford that really so I tried to finish the lap with all wheels and more bent. Still in fourth.
I managed to reach pit and got repaired but also another 55 liters of fuel so I had to be careful the last laps. The stop took so long my engine started smoking and I thought I had a button mapped to stop/start the engine so I desperately pushed some buttons and accidentally pressed one with a chat macro. My bad, very sorry. Big Grin

So after a long time I got on my way with smoking engine. From what I saw smoke stopped after couple of corners and then I tried to manage the heavy car. I overtook George for 7th place and did my best to get up to Hector who struggled in the final laps. I got within a couple of seconds but not enough.

It was a great event, great first laps for me, Dj and me in a classic battle. Shame about the stop, seems the luck I had in Season 2 is completely missing... :-\

Very well done all, thanks for racing. Smile

Had a fun 2 weeks at Nords. This race almost never happened due to the track being a bit league race unfriendly with only 12 pit stops, no start lights, no start sounds etc. Happy we as a team sorted that out with our Nords SR4L update fix Smile.

Started the night with a check list:-
Peddles working, check!
Firewall set to game mode, check!
PC power cord plugged in very very very tight, check! :o
Graphics card not showing Mario Kart rainbow road graphics, check!

Ready to roll Big Grin

Qually did 2 runs. Managed to get a lap time 5 seconds faster then my personal best jumping passed Gorka at the last few minutes of the session. Phew clean side of the grid. Smile

Could not have been more perfect. Big Grin Everything going to plan Wink.

Lights turned to green (happy they worked by the way), jumped MarcelW for 2nd place as per my evil plan. As Marcel said he then got overtook by RolandH. Roland was fast, on my tail the whole lap before he overtook me on the straight. Think he was even gaining on Rik who was flying. Did not take long for Marcel to be on my tail. I was lucky that he was keep making mistakes before getting to the long straight as I know once he gets a tow I'm done for.

Lol, bloody hell m8 Big Grin, yup very close. Was not sure if you were about to pit with me Big Grin. I think you should have as my pit lane was completely empty of other peoples cars. Straight in, straight out, no Cosimo doing something from Belly Hill Big Grin. I saw your replay of your stop lol. RolandH, looked like he got disconnected within that mess, not sure what happened to him.
Once the pits were all sorted out, found myself in 2nd place, Gorka 12 seconds behind still 5 laps to go. Gorka was cutting the gap very quick, looked like he wanted my 2nd place for sure. Suddenly the gap started increasing again, he had hit the wall, damage. I could then just drive it home without to much pressure. Maybe did the slowest final lap ever just to bring her home Big Grin

No stopping Rik, he get 101 points. Marcel needs to start worrying if he want to keep his 1st place in the championship.
I have no idea where I am, lost count of the points 2 races ago Big Grin

My best sim-racing performance so far, no doubt (not very experienced) Smile It had been even better with some close battle through the race, but it doesn't really matter... I did a "vettel" and pulled away first lap to never let go of the lead. I'm really happy anyway.

QUALI

My plan was to leave the pit first, but George were faster. It made things more complicated... I knew he was on hot-lap instantly because he drove through the third lane, so he had no responsibility to let me past when I was going to catch him. So my choice was to just go for it and hopefully get past him without causing an accident, or wait a minute or so. But it was never really an option because even if I had waited 1 minute, there's no guarantee I would not catch him at the end of the lap or even worse - next lap (the REAL hot-lap). So I left pit and hoped for the best... But it ended with disaster. His early braking surprised me and in panic I smashed the brakes but it was too late. Rather than crashing into George, I went off track and crashed into the guardrail. ESC and restart from pit :-[ I was upset and a bit stressed, and had a hard time trying to concentrate. My next two laps (timed out-lap + one hotlap) was far from perfect. I made many small mistakes and went wide in some corners, and it felt like I had no grip. Some slower guys pulled over to let me past although I don't think they had to... Very nice of you guys, big thanks (cosimo and edwin I think?) :-) I managed 7:13 and improved it to 7:09 next lap even with some mistakes. At this point I believed I was far from safe, because I was totally sure Marcel had more speed and soon manage to get below 7:10 :Smile I did one more try with fresh tires and less fuel. I turned off all HUD because I didn't want to see my split times and so on... I managed to get a clean lap on my very last try and improved my laptime to 7:08 which gave me pole. Relieved Smile

RACE

I was nervous at the start grid, but I did a good start. No one was close enough to attack me at the first corner. I was very nervous and felt more tension in my legs than ever before and it made the braking much harder :o But somehow I managed to get away from David and Marcel (I thought it was Marcel but found out later that it was Roland). Very good start for me, to be able to open up a little gap and no need to worry about drivers trying to overtake. At this point I should be able to relax because I knew my race pace was really good as I could push the car on my limit for the whole stint with very small time losses, but I could still not relax... But I found a good pace, lapping 7:12's.

Every lap, at the "Karusell" corner, I saw the driver in 2nd place, a few seconds behind me (I thought it was Marcel but it was Roland) and he was apparently driving the same laptimes as me. I did my pitstop at the end of lap 6, as planned, and lost 1st place to Roland. I was not sure he knew about the pitstop rule but less than a lap later he had left the race (fuel), and I was driving on my own and could not see the driver in 2nd. I lapped a couple of drivers and it was no problems as all drivers pulled off the racing line. Only when I was going to lap Mel Fisk, I had some trouble... He was driving in the middle of the track and it didn't look like he was aware of the blue flag. But then he sticked to the inside and slowed down, so I took the outside to pass him but suddenly he swerved to the outside just a little... Only time I got really scared in the whole race ??? But everything went fine and I finished 1st ;D

My quali session was more eventful than my race, but it was still very exciting. I'm not using HUD that allows me to see who's behind, and that made it more exciting I think. And maybe it helped me because if I knew David was +1 minute behind I would slow down more and maybe loose my concentration and crash.

Thanks SR4L for hosting this event. It's so different from the other events in the season. Thanks to Djc for his update so we could run this track Smile WD all who finished the race. Only 3 retired (my brother lost connection). Fantastic. No track is impossible now, right?

Watched the replay. The whole situation with Cosimo was very comical but I can understand his frustration. Anyway, no good idea to reverse only to hit Gorka lol Big Grin But it was really painful to see you hit that fence, because exactly the same thing happened to me earlier this week when I was practicing pitstops offline. If I had mentioned it, maybe this had never happened :-[

He don't need to worry about me, that's for sure. I missed the first 6 races and my 2nd race at Silverstone was a disaster. But I'm not surprised if you are in the lead now, because you got 80 points today! But I have no idea. I'd be great if the league site is fixed soon Sad Or, someone need to do it manually and post the standings here on the forum (let me know if I can help with the calculating hehe)

Well done djc, and congratulations to your 2nd place today.

Thanks Rik,
When making the update, I was thinking about changing that fence for a picture of a hot pit girl with big boobies Big Grin, then we all would be hitting it Big Grin.

Finishing here was already a victory, such a difficult race... final lap was in big pain in my left ankle. Pedals are not perfectly placed and had to keep my left foot in quite a high position above the clutch pedal, definetly after 80 minutes that's not comfortable at all. At the christmas brake I'll take the time to do some cutting-resoldering to bring the pedals a little lower.

Qualy
--------
The idea was to do a 2x2lap attempts. First 2 laps weren't too good as avoiding a yellow car that had crashed made me hit a wall and have a little damage. Anyway reached a 7'19".
Went for my other 2 laps. Did a 7'16" in the outlap. Seing it wasn't a bad time tried to push harder at the flying lap, but made a litle mistake and hit the barriers so I gave up any more attempts.
At the final moments DjC did a superb lap at put me in 4th place and dirty side of track.

Race
------
Surprised by the man in fifth how quickly he started I saw how he overtook us both Marcel and I.
I decided to take this first laps very carefull. just wanted to finish anyway. Robert was close behind, but at the third lap something happened to him and I saw him dissapear.
It was the sixth lap and it was time to head for my pitstop
Then it was really wierd. As I was carefully approaching my pit spot I could see Cosimo in reverse coming straight to me and hitting my left front side. Checked my car status in the HUD and damaged appeared on the left front suspension. Just hoped it wouldn't make the car undriveable. Pit time was 51 seconds and while I was checking my car's status I heard a big crashing noise and saw a lot of smoke ahead and Marcel's car involved. Ouch, I thought, he must have crashed the quite narrow left gate.
I exited the pits through the middle gate to avoid Marcel and went back to race. Damage at my left front was not noticeable at all.
I saw DjC was 12 seconds ahead and with 5 laps to go and a fresh set of tires I decided to finally start pushing and see if I had a chance to reach him.
1 lap later the distance had reduced to 8 seconds, so I kept pushing. 5 turns to end of the next lap the gap was 5 seconds. But Nordschleife barriers quickly told me to calm down, slightly damaged my car so I gave up all chances of fighting for second.
As I calmed down I felt my left ankle was starting to hurt and the only place I could give it a brake was at the straight. Final lap was a bit of a hell in pain mainly at shifting down gears, but finally the race ended and I felt really happy of being in the podium.

The Green Hell was over and I survived it.

I'll keep it quick I promise.

== Quali ==

Had no chances, so I was very relaxed. Got a 8:18, which is near to my current PB at Nords, 8:10.
18th place in grid.

== Race ==

A few drivers didn't pick up the start signal, so I managed to get a few positions immediately, and drive safe and clean. During lap 1 or 2 I saw an accident in front of me after the "Holle" and the 2-3 folks there were trying to get back onto the track. Managed to pass them safely. At this point I was super charged, and probably around 10th or so.

Edwin was leading the pack of chasers, and he was definitely faster than me. When he caught me up on lap 2 or 3, I made a mistake, touched the grass and lost control, miraculously without damage, but lost 2 positions. More small mistakes made me lose another position and slightly damage the car, so at lap 6 I came into the pits for tyres + repair.

This must have been the most comical (and stupid) piece of my simracing experience. I apologize for hitting you Gorka, really sorry about it. I hadn't seen or heard any bump or crash from my pov, but let's just say I'm not proud of my pit stop. The problem is, why is there like 7-8 pit spots that are lit with red arrows, when you can't use them? I don't really understand.

Anyway, do add insult to injury, I tried going out and then back into the pits. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, crossing the starting straight back to the pits. OMG, I can't believe I really did that. Of course, pitstop was off already. I didn't realize what had happened, so I just drove another full lap with damaged car.

The rest is just me trying to get to the end. Thanks Rikard for putting an end to my misery with the 11th lap. Finished 14th. Not even close to the disaster I imagined, but I know I could do way better, if only I had found my pit and avoided a few stupid mistakes.

I hope we can repeat the Nords experience though, maybe at the end of the season.
Track is awesome, and I learned one or two more things about setting up my car here.

== League points ==

I've been chasing the admins to help with fixing the league points issue. It would be really nice to do that.
I'm a developer in my day job, I think I would be able to put a patch up, so we can get the standings going until a proper fix from the vendor is available.
I tried contacting Paul and Bryan a few times, but it seems to be a difficult problem, or something else is holding it up.
Please let me help! It's important for me.

It was a disaster for me.

I started race sensibly, I settled down in my (slowish) rythm and I promosed myself I stay out of trouble no matter what.
In first lap I was in front of Ricknau who was following me fast, but I holded my lines and he never got near enough to pass.
Mel was way ahead, but suddenly, I saw he was getting really close and at the 5th gear esses before the karousel, he lost it hitting the barriers at the left.
I kept my speed, it was easy to pass him, but as I did he decided to come abdruptly into track towards me.
Only way to avoid him was to step on the grass, but doing so I spun and I was hit from behind by the oncoming cars.
By the noise I heard there should be other casualties too, sorry guys not my fault.
Mel man, dont do this kind of stuff, when you lost it you lost it, there is no sense getting the rest with you.

Pissed off I decided to have an early pitstop, I cant remember if I requested one though, the result is I didnt get any fuel and I was out of it at the 8th lap while having a cool fight with Vittorio for 11th place.

Very bad luck for me this season as for the first time Im very well prepared at races and I really love this car, still something happens destroying my races, Im jinxed.

Wonderfull attendance once more, thank you SR4L.

No problem. It was quite hillarious seing your car coming backwards. I was thinking "He must have missed his spot between Marcel's and mine" until feeling the bump and geting my car 45ยบ turned left.

It would be great to have some kind of multiclass endurance event at Le mans.

It's very odd you got no fuel Nikos, does not matter if you press the pit request button or not, you should still get some. Have you still got your set-up saved, maybe worth you look at it to see what you got your fuel set to. The fact that you got all the way to lap 8 you must have got some, unless you fuelled to lap 8, then I don't know. Odd.

Even more odd Cosimo saying he had 7-8 pit spots that are lit with red arrows and none worked. That explains why he was driving all over the place lol. Cosimo, when you pitted for the 2nd time was there still 7-8 pits spots lit? :O I've never had that in all my testing.

Yes, this happens all the time for me with SR4L races. It's not limited to this track.
Happened again at TWS, to name one example that I remember of.

I had 60L all day and I started race with that, thats why I got as far as 8th.
I even rechecked my setup after race and it was set at 60L.
Yes I thought the same, there should be some fuel at pitstop but none did.

But did you define your pitstop in your setup screen? If it says 0 liters at stop 1 then you will get 0 liters. I assume you used my set and I'm fairly sure I had set it to zero for all 3 stops.

I don't think it's an issue with the track but rf2 bug...
