Sim Racers 4 Life welcomes you to Season 3 of our Historic's League. This season we move up to the Historic F1's in what promises to be an action pack event. There's no way around it, it's a hard mod and with that comes massive challenges. One of them Finishing and being consistent will be the key to a good season. We see the return of the reverse grid race with this series and now with only two racers per round it add a lot more pressure on staying clean in those opening laps. Expect big thrill, big spills and lots of emotion to come out of this series.
SR4L wishes you good luck for the season.

Important #1:
For this track, we are bending the cutting rules slightly.
* turn 1, a wider entry is possible once black and white brake markers at the left are gone. Just don't over do it. Normal rules apply at this point. (don't cross white line with all four wheels)
* turn 2 is a little harder to judge. The single row of brakemarkers at the left, if they are gone, don't plow straight through gravel with all four wheels. At least have tires on the kerbs.
* the following chicane you are allowed to cross the white line with all four wheels but be careful, the solid black tirestacks won't move.
* exiting the fast left-right sequence, you are allowed to cross the white line at the left. The grey concrete will punish you and your laptime enough if you over do it so beware.
Important #2:
Exit pit like shown in images below. You can enter track after the black and white markers, before the cones.
Crossing yellow line marked as 'old' pit exit is allowed. Not while exiting pit tho.
We will have to see/test what happens when the black and white posts get smashed down, possibly blocking pit exit.
Important #3:
SR4L Adviser DjCruicky' Wrote:Only having 12 pit spaces this track, I would advise everyone in warm-up before the race to sit on their pit space and see who you are sharing with. You don't have to do a lap, just press the pit-request button and drive on it. If you sharing then you can discuss with that person when to pit or when not to pit etc.

I guess I need to start practicing for this track soon!
I had my worst league race ever at croft with the F2's I think I retired two races and finished 10th in one race....lol. Not my favourite track.
What about cutting the pit exit? Allowed or not?

You'll do fine, Im sure
Cutting yellow line marked as pit exit is allowed, I have updated 1st post.

Any exceptions to the deemed cutting rule? I think it'd be better to make an exception to this rule in this track to avoid any controversy. Anyway in the fast chicane going wide at the exit can be more dangerous due to bumps than helpfull.

Such an awful little track Snetterton is also a small track but there I could at least find a nice flow but not here. Almost every corner feels uncomfortable and I'm not sure how to set gear ratios (not often this happens) because I don't want to use 1st gear. Nah, the shifting at this track is just a pain with the h-shifter. I don't expect to be up there fighting for the win this time but hopefully I can finish both races without 300sec repair...
Doesn't feel like I'll be able to get below 1:23 at the moment but eventually I do if I just continue practicing : I'll try to just lap 20-30 laps in a row without checking laptimes, maybe I find a better flow.
Can't believe how this could be my favourite track in TOCA2, but of course it's a different thing with other cars
BTW I like the idea about the new pit exit.
And I don't think we should do any exceptions to deemed cutting rule.

About the deemed cutting rule, I remember last season, before the event the rule was pretty well explained and argued.
Then at qualifying and race many drivers broke the rule. I complained about that, big discussions and final conclusions were.... Nobody was to be punished even proved cheating, Gorka is a bad guy and friend because of his complains.
That's why I prefer this rule to be ignored here or to be pretty well discussed in this track.
Talking bussiness, this track is really a pain for H shifters. I'm definetly not using first gear on the last corner and prefer to concentrate on other things (as having a balanced car and better traction).
I'll be working mainly on a new setup concept more open minded and not using the "as hard as posible" config I've been using. The way I setup cars worked well at first races but has proved to be uncompetitive since then (don't know if faster people have found a better car configuration but I've definitely lost pace).

I'm trying a little softer setup for this track too, especially the rear, and it's working much better Probably because of the very low grip (like all feels3 tracks) even with a fair amount of rubber. Now I'm in the 1:22's, so I'm heading the right direction. And I am also keeping 2nd gear in the final corner.
Regarding deemed cutting... Yes I see what you mean Gorka. After a couple of laps I have changed my mind. There are already a lot of tire stacks and dangerous posts, so we can't cut the track too much.
Is it possible to remove the darn cones?? lol

I'm about to create a post asking for setup knowledge, as I'm quite desperate in setting up the car.

Yes I have been signed up at the League site. Thanks for the welcome. It was nice to be able to look at the stats again... thanks for that DJC.
Have to start putting in some longer runs and trying to find a setup myself. I have this weird thing that I'm preferring to drive the EVE F1 instead of the EVE F1B. I don't have a lot of experience per se in the F1 car but I have noticed this at several tracks now. The extra downforce creates a very tail happy car, the car without the wings never feels quite planted but also can be quite comfortable on the edge.
Has anybody else really liked or been on the pace without the extra wings? In my first 50 or so laps around the track I've a current race pace of mid-23. I'm sure this can be improved upon but it hasn't come so easily. I can't just easily jump into the F1B with the same setup because I can't really keep the car on the track. definitely will need to do some more testing...

I see the F1 version as quite useless to be honest. The F1B is the way to go because the extra downforce in front is very welcome, and the oversteer can always be cured with setup, but I also prefer a little oversteer to help the car turn in, it also saves the front tires a bit. The way I feel, it's either the F1B, or the F1C for very fast tracks like Monza 10k.
I think you should learn the F1B and find a setup for it, but you can do however you want In our Nordschleife event there was a guy called Roland Haans, and he was very quick with the F1 version. He was driving exactly same laptimes as me in race, until he was disconnected or something (?), but anyway, that's a very unique track...

Thanks for the response Hedlund. The tire thing seems like a non-issue as we have to do a pitstop and a tire change in each race so I imagine it's like a full out sprint from start to finish.
I saw your brother in there today easily running mid-22s for race pace. I had switched to the F1B but still was only able to manage mid-23 and be consistent. Obviously there are many things that can be done with the setup to change the characteristic of the car. Here is where the practice part comes in.
Two 21 lap races is definitely going to be a marathon of concentration here at Croft. Hopefully my fast setup will be one that's also quite easy to manage over the race distance.

Just stay with at least 2 wheels on the curbs, and everything will be alright?? ;D
Btw, how many pitspots do we have? I shared pitspot with Gorka last season and I had to wait like 30 sec for him because we pitted at the same lap
