Bad Nikos Big Grin

I got to thank David Coyne straight off for his setup. Before that I was 0.5 seconds slower and tyres would not last that long. See Davids findings about some odd things about the Lola tyres http://www.simracers4life.com/index.php?topic=1230.0

With Davids setup I managed to get up to 2nd place behind him, but then luck for me I got a cheeky tow from someone near end of qually and got Poll Big Grin.

The race, I was starting on the un-rubbered side, so David got passed straight off at the start. Other people managed to get either side of me too, there was paint exchanged, felt the odd bump, but managed to keep 2nd behind David.
I followed David as he was fast, I was keeping in his tow. I did not try overtake as I knew he would just overtake me back and we would loose time and end up with danger of 3rd place man join us. I was in saving tyres mode, backing off for the corners then have David pull me close on the straights. This was working good until lap 17 suddenly David's car disappeared in front of me. His PC had crashed. This made me feel sad as this was his race. I guess the server did not like 13 drivers, unlucky number, someone had to go Big Grin.
The rest of the 120 laps was lapping cars. Had 1 or 2 close calls with the wall and back makers, but got the car to finish with numb bum, numb fingers and an odd pain in shoulder in 1st Big Grin. I guess I'll getting old Big Grin.

Qualy

My target here was second place as that was the rubbered side of the track , my thinking was to get into the lead and control the pace and hopefully pull anyone near into destroying their tyres .
Went out quick and set a time just behind Tim which put me where I wanted , DJ then pipped the pair of us so I went out again but overdid it and got pole , DJ then went out and was trying like mad to beat my time fortunately he got me in the dying minutes of the session .

Race

I got the start I wanted but didnt push too hard so this allowed DJ onto my tail , I then discovered something I didnt plan for or expect , when a car was close up to me in the corners it unsettled my backend badly and at one point I did a huge slide through turn 2 which gave me a wake up , I then started to lift a little earlier to combat this , at that point I thought this is going to the wire , we both settled into a rhythm and then I saw DJ go off in my mirrors at turn 1 , I was just wondering what went wrong for him when I ended up staring at the server selection screen . Dammit
Understeer - is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car
Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

hey guys..
first off I have to thank Tim for all the help he gave me for this race. I didn't get much practice in (this will have repercussions latter on in this report :-[ )
at the start of the race I seen a whole lot of action going on toward the outside of the track, so I went on the inside - paid off, I was in third - I went around and around in circles for some 40 laps and seen I was in second place - cool, time to pit. (here comes the not much practice part) as I got to pit entry I hit my brakes to slow down for pit speed - the car yanked left into the tire wall (I heard steve matchett and david hobbs go - OHHHHHH NOOOOOOOO! :o) i'm like WTF and next I know I am bounce right threw the grass and up on the track nosed into the outside wall hearing a lola at full song coming right at me. BOOM! sorry paul swire, I didn't know it was you at the time - had to look at replay. but, you did knock me out of harms way and back into pit lane. 187 seconds of damage for me and 5 laps down I finished 8th.. felt bad about messing up paul's race and a poor finish for me until I read Dave's report. I agree with tim, you deserved better dave.
anywho, tim got our team it's first podium finish, good on ya tim.. now, onto longford! Smile

like everyone else I have to thank deecee for everything he owned this track through lots of work and we all benefitted from it. had a good start got under DJ but he bumped me sending me into inside of track got back up to 3rd but could not save tires enough had to do 2 stops which killed me for any competition just hung in and finished pb 3rd. hard race on old mans eyes. Shame on deecee internet issues and Jerry's crash. Now I go back to mid pack.
