USF2000 League - Round 3 - Lime Rock Park - Reports
#1
I didnt practice here, been busy all week, and when I joined practice today I thought this race could end easily in carnage.

I also was very worried with me coping in such a tight place with the blue flags I was sure I would receive.

It turned out I was worrying more than I should. Everything went more or less ok, same or less damage than usual.

People I think were very carefull and I think I did good with all of this blue colour Big Grin

At the end, I grabed some points to help my teamie.

Tell us what you saw racers.

First time on timespeak. I had a very good time speaking with you guys (my english is quite bad when speaking, but actually that was my first ever time speaking in english with other people). Let's hope more people join our timespeak channel during future events.

It took me a lot of work on sunday morning to setup the car as this track relays mainly on a good setup. I did all type of blind changes until I found a setup that at least kept the car driveable for many laps (still having understeer on the left front but at least it was manageable).

Qualy
-------
Got a 48.1, enough for 4th, not bat considering it was only 3 tenths from pole position.

Race1
-------
Yuri didn't make a good start in front of me so I had to lift and lost position to David in turn 1. Luckily for me he made a little mistake and I passed him again on the next corner. The next of the first stint of the race I kept trying to chase the main pack. Hector and Yuri started building a lead while kristijan started struggling with grip. That helped me overtake him around lap 14.
At the end of lap 16 I took my pitstop, 33seconds. After everyone pitted I was again on third position and remained there until the end of the race.

Race 2
---------
Starting 8th I went for turn 1 right behind David after a couple of cars crashed on the entry. David almost lost the tail on turn 2 and I tried a move through the left, but he defended the line and I had to move a bit to the grass not to touch him. A little bit of mayhem there, Kristijan and a white car touched each other touching me as I reentered the track and in the situation me touching Ricky too. He was about to spin as I touched his rear left so I throttle back again pushing his front left to end that spin and put his car straight.
Race went back to normal from this moment, after my 38sec pitstop I came back to the track in second place and I remained there getting a second podium finish.

Its Minges fault.

His accent in Spanish is terrible.

You said about kicking him on track. Those words werebeing repeated in my head during the las 5 laps of the second race when he wouldn't let mi pass him. ;D

Yes it was a disgraceful block job. :-[ Gorgias was going like the blazes, probably could have made a real run for the win. The problem was I was in the fight of my life with Marko for a position. If I let Gorgias go, Marko would have followed. I was also having fun demonstrating the difficulty of passing at Lime Rock, even for someone who is maybe 2 seconds faster. I did the same thing to Cruicky in race 1, but he let me know immediately so I let him go. It's hard to know for sure who is following sometimes.

I also have to apologize for booting Nikos at the start. I was paying more attention to others flying off the road ahead.

I disagree with your estimation.

I was right behind you all, and all of you were battling for points and position.

Thats not called blocking thats called defending.

Btw from my viewpoint you three looked like a choreography Big Grin

Dan, there's no way I could catch Hector, I couldn't gain any time on him staying at 4 seconds distance all time just in hope he may had an incident and take advantage of it.

My only concern was that you may be thinking the car behind you was Marko and not me, that's way I even did some short honks behind you trying to say "hey, it's me, not Marko".

Hey, that was great last few laps in the race 2, I really enjoyed that. You went full Gandalf on him: YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!
And you were right, I was on Gorka's back just waiting for you to move aside for him so we can both pass, but you did a clever job Smile

Again, that was fun too in Race 1, I was also close behind you, I let DjC pass and was watching you not moving away. Well, that lasted like 1 lap until DC got mad ;D

DJ says, and I quote:
[big][big][big][big][big][big]
"OOOOT MA WAY!"[/big][/big][/big][/big][/big][/big]

My monitor died on Friday, so poor DJC was driving the race on Sunday on a 15 inch 1024x768 monitor. His FOV was restricted as a result. Hope to have a new one for the F2 race.

Two words from me.
Practice before qualy,cried for help!!
Couldn't feel the front,no grip at all and massive understeer.
Many drivers offered help, thank you all,and in way i cured underst.
I knew this track, right turns,is eating left front so it was impossible via camber and different rire pressure to save it.
Dan offered me a setup and viola!!!
Car is more planted now and i went to 58'!!!!
Thanks Dan!
7th in qualy and fuel for .....half race...BIG MISTAKE Sad
First stint all good, everyone in front started entering pits and i was 2nd when i took my pitstop.
58 sec!!!!!and all other drivers was 30-40 sec.
Lost a lot of time and emerged i think 9th....with the same fuel with others.
If i started the race, like everyone, with fuel for all the race maybe it was better.
Second race, full fuel for the race, started 2nd,had i good fight with John Cook, until fast guys was in my tail, took a little gas off to let them pass, and Mel Fisk was behind me,we had a hug in the last right downhill turn, went to the barriers, lot of damage,300 or more sec to the pits,
finished 11th.
Sorry Mel Wink
Every race with you i learn a lot!
Now F2!!!!
Have a nice day,or night!!!! Smile

grats guys nice racing

so at first i didnt want to race because i felt very weak.I was sick for the last couple of days Sad ..
decided to try to make few laps on practice and see how it goes.but then i had problem with usf v1.1 and took me 2 h to get it work(my fault, but that took almost all my left energy from me Sad i didnt eat for almost 3 day so you can imagine Smile my head wanted to explode )
but then i decided again to go online and just try few laps Smile i didnt feel to good but stayed to try to make few points for team

qualy:not bad because i was trying too much things in garage to try to make care car stable & fast with less grip loss (No success) Smile

race1:im happy with result in first race because my car set was not so good for race and i made to early pit stop & had to much fuel for race(13+ laps left at the end)..

race2:connection lost Sad after that touching in second corner.. i come back to server and i was 3 laps behind..did the race to the end Smile No luck for me Sad

All in all I am pleased, because in first place 3h before race i was sure im not gonna race.. it drained all my energy and second day i was all day in bed.. but hey im ok today Smile
sorry to hear DJ got problems to Sad not easy task to race with 15 inch monitor when use to bigger one

see you all on next race

cheers guys

I think Dan's setup file was someway faulty. Nikos was also using it and he also had longer pitstops than usual (double the time).

During race 1 you also had a moment when you almost were disconnected. Your car disapeared for almost half a lap around lap 2 or 3.

I dont think its a setup fault.
My long pitstop was due to my bad decision to load fuel, and that costed me approx 15 sec.
Dan's setup is fine and stable through the race.
If you know something else please inform us!
You used to post your setups after race,i remember, why did you stop?

After the BT44 league I kind of forgot about it, and as I can see faster guys on the USF league I thought it would be of no interest.
Anyway, if you want to test it at Lime Rock, here you have it http://www.mediafire.com/file/ot9nl9b75o...Height.svm

You'll find it oversteery on the outlap but as tires get hot car will be under control.
