OK - there are a few details left to finalise, but enough is now in place to start releasing details of the SR4L Autumn/Fall 2022 league season...

Firstly, to allay the fears of our friends in the Americas, there *will* be a Sunday league...

...but to open up league competition to those with weekend commitments, there will also be a separate mid-week league running over the same period!

Headlines - Schedule:
• Sunday 'Feature' League - similar format to usual
• Mid-Week 'Sprint' League - two shorter races per event - both scoring points
• Mid-week league likely to take place on Wednesdays - Fun Races will be suspended while league is active
• Both Leagues will run weekly for eight consecutive weeks
• Enter one, both or neither!
• Leagues scheduled to start mid-October and finish early December before the Christmas social season
Headlines - Vehicles:
• Multiple Vehicles to choose from
• Drivers use at least three different vehicles during the season (to promote variety in the pack - free choice - no specific track/vehicle combos required)
• Possible bonus points (TBD) for underdog ('Slug') vehicle variants!
•
Headlines - Tracks:
• Eight tracks grouped into two 4-week half-seasons
• Six of the Eight will be announced up-front.
• Weeks 4 and 8 will be mystery wildcards! and will be announced only in race-week. Expect the unexpected!
• Feature League will race tracks in sequence 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
• Sprint League will race tracks in sequence 5, 6, 7, 4, 1, 2, 3, 8
More to follow...! All details subject to change.

A League Edition of the Trans Am Golden Era cars…

• Full car set (all 6 vehicles including the two ‘slugs’ - AMC Javelin and Pontiac)
• LE has a fully-adjustable diff instead of the awkward spool axle of the Houston Dissenter - much nicer to set up and drive
• Modestly increased draft effect
The two Slug options are relatively heavy and underpowered - if practical, these will earn bonus championship points - TBC.

Not for the Autumn - the M1 is the current prime candidate for a longer 2023 season as it is suitable for a wider range of tracks.

The Trans Ams (in default non-LE spec) were well received in the Wednesday fun races - but the League Edition we have our hands on should be even better because the change from a spool to a tuneable diff makes them even more accessible and fun to drive).

Cheer up Dan! This time* last year you were racing Formula BMWs!Wink

The M1s will come - they deserve an appropriate set of tracks - and testing and curating them (as the kidz have learned to say) will need a bit of time and collective effort.

Talking of tracks - I believe the set we’ve got lined up for the Trans Ams suits them very well. And then there’re the two wildcards…o_OWink

*OK, that was a bit earlier in the year and the BMW reference is unfortunate

Sprint Format
• Free Qualy (unlimited laps, fixed time period)
• Short warmup
• 15-minute* Sprint Race 1
• Short warmup
• 30-minute* Sprint Race 2 (reverse grid from Race 1)
• Overall Event session times will be similar to current Fun Races (I.e. approx 7:30PM - 9PM UK time) but are TBD
Additional rules:
• Vehicle used to Qualy *must* be used for both Sprint races.
• Both Sprint Races score points (discourages DNFs in Race 1 to game grid for Race 2)
• Drivers who miss the start of Sprint Race 1 may join Sprint Race 2 but will be placed at the back of the grid in joining order
• No mandatory pit stops, no pit lane limit
• ’Default’ cut rules - stop-go threshold TBD but likely to be 2-4pts
• Default tire/fuel usage
• Race length will be set in terms of laps based on estimate from pre-race practice times
All subject to change/confirmation.

Feature Format (Sundays)
• Broadly as usual…
• 45minute race - (set in terms of laps based on estimate from pre-race practice times)
• Mandatory pit stop (minimum criteria TBC but the tyres will probably dictate that themselves!)
• Pit-lane limit will be active - unlike Sprints, cars will be pitting and need to be controlled.
Both Formats
• Must use minimum of three different car types during season (e.g. Ford, Pontiac, Plymouth)
• Free choice of car per event - but same car used for Qualy must be raced throughout event (I.e. cannot Qualy in Ford Boss and then race AMC Javelin)
