We have been notified that the LiveRacers timing service will cease as of 28th August. They are turning the system off for unspecified reasons.

We will endeavour to find a replacement.

It’s worth pointing out that this service has been one of the ongoing costs of running SR4L - and the more active servers we’ve had running, the more we’ve been charged…

This could be good news (if we can find a free/cheaper replacement) - or we might find our costs go up…

Normally, I would pretty much ignore this - 'we' don't like updating servers until RCs have had a chance to bed in - particularly when new features (such as racing against content you don't own...) are being introduced...

HOWEVER! The timeline suggests that this RC will go into full production on February 21st (11 days from now and just two days after the first round of the Spring '23 season). At this point, we won't have much choice...

I have therefore updated the server as of 6PM UK time - all clients will need to update to the latest RC at that point too. Fingers crossed!]]>

10 minutes Qualy starting at 7:30PM UK time (8:30 CET?) - unlimited laps.
Race length c. 10 mins (5 laps) - normal fuel & tyre usage

Racing usually continues to c. 9PM UK time (10PM CET?). Join anytime but be ready to race!

Finishing positions of each race will be reversed for the next starting grid.
Race sessions will be rapidly advanced to Warmup soon after the last racer has crossed the finish line.

Nominal warm-up between each race while grids are set - keep an eye on the chat window as if everyone is ready to go, we will… Shout out if you need a quick break.

…but GTPC’s Arnaud has extended a significant courtesy to us in allowing SR4L to further modify vehicles to our taste. Thank you Arnaud (and the SR4L organiser who arranged this - wasn’t me!).

Even if you’re not a Wednesday driver, would you do us the great favour of giving the car an honest appraisal - it might not (yet) be your cup of tea, but we’d hate ‘to lose the ship for a pennyworth o’tar’.

And it might be your next League car - so if you don’t like the direction it has taken but don’t give it a proper go, you‘ll only have yourselves to blame]]>
