I haven't tested more than 20 laps stints o_O I thought they felt quite worn after 20 laps (soft compound).. Haven't even tried the hard compounds.. Guess I will go for a stop anyways. It's not a crazy idea if you can lap fast enough with fresher tires and a lighter car to go for a stop. RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - 1976 F1 Season - Round 1 Brasil - Bruce - 07-10-2018 can't find password RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - 1976 F1 Season - Round 1 Brasil - parzoe - 07-10-2018 We opted for the no stop. Not quite enough data however to verify it was the right call. Still a decent result for us: 8th and 13th. I can't see who is on which teams in live timing. Is everyone setup properly? Also I did not see a championship setup? I have explored Live Racers pretty deep for another league and absolutely love it. Let me know if I can help. Would have been a great "fun" race don't you think? We test as much as possible. We all have Families, Jobs, personal life and so on and it's not always easy. I'm always up for feedback and we all do the best we can. After testing tyre wear on normal as far as I can see it was minimal ie; on my 39th lap of the race I ran a 1.29xxx and had lost just 25% off my front tyres, back tyres 8%. What I would love to see is a dramatic drop in times forcing you to pit, that brings tyre management into it... ideally. The problem I found is that x2 and x5 tyre wear while making the wear quicker again did not reflect slower times. The biggest issue with using tyre wear multiplier is that you increase the risk of flat spot vibration which although realistic is slightly over the top with the multiplier on. Remember, the more we info we share the more fun we have. And as always, Feedback appreciated. P.s. Conditions can change during the course of the season, we will keep you posted. Fergy RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - 1976 F1 Season - Round 1 Brasil - gorgias1976 - 08-10-2018 I was relatively cautious during, the race. Pushing hard but avoiding rear wheel spins and lockups. That helped me push at max the last 10 laps, getting my fastest lap on lap 39 too. RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - 1976 F1 Season - Round 1 Brasil - parzoe - 08-10-2018 I think the option of running the hard tire for the full race is really neat! Soft tires will not last and are quite a bit quicker. With the no stop, it evens things out. RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - 1976 F1 Season - Round 1 Brasil - chrispbbb - 08-10-2018 Regarding tire wear, I didn't have any issues with the softs heating up or wearing at all. I saw a lot of tires locking under braking and I suspect those having wear issues might be a bit too aggressive with rotating these cars. The small tires up front require a smooth input approach and minimal lock. RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - 1976 F1 Season - Round 1 Brasil - parzoe - 08-10-2018 You went the full race on soft tires? RE: Sim Racers 4 Life - 1976 F1 Season - Round 1 Brasil - Ricknau - 08-10-2018 I went soft tires for the whole race and the car was scary unstable for the last 5-8 laps. Not just sliding unstable but even just steering a straight line. Very strange I thought. But maybe if I had been gentler with them they may have lasted longer. Can we qualy on soft and race with hard? Yes, you can as it is not "parq fermé". I did all race with softs, I just tried to be careful mainly avoiding lockups and being gentle with the throttle on slower corners during more than half the race. I just didn't have the time do the math of how fast could I lap in a lighter car and a more aggressive style but adding a pitstop. Maybe at Kyalami. However, I have made a number of setup changes to keep the fronts unloaded to save them and avoided being harsh under braking and turn-in. I haven't even tried running the hards yet, so maybe the pace evens out if you can be more aggressive with them. Something to try out before Kyalami. |
