We ask for laps because we use laps and not time. We know it should be 26-28 laps but I've been surprised before. Maybe it's 30 laps or just 24. I'd like to prepare my setup and how much fuel to carry and how much fuel to add on pitspot (I don't use more fuel than necessary

I had heard that a set sometimes was used for more than one weekend. And is that fuel usage (2 liters per lap) for the double fuel usage rate we'll be using for the race?

I've been thinking a bit about this.
In the old days they raced mainly open road narrow tracks, with no scape-roads, low grip asphalts, risk of dead at the slightlest error.... so probably tires weren't pushed as much as we push them in the simulator.
Silverstone has a more abbrasive surface, is very wide and has big scape-roads along long fast curves where you can push really hard the limits of the tires (that is what causes the more tire degradation).
Going back to the old classics as Belgium and Montecarlo, even the "fear of dead" factor is no longer there and we can push harder, tire wear should be no problem there.

It is a fact that Dunlop tried to produce a slick tyre at mid 60s but cancelled it because compounds were very hard.
I think this explains their long life, yes I heard too that they could last more than a weekend.

Maybe a year ago I was looking at full race laptimes from late 60's races to see how much laptimes dropped towards the end of the race. Can't remember exactly but there was definitely a drop. Can't remember the website though...
